Well I'll be missing the Meet & Greet this year, step-daughters wedding in Oct so while we can't afford a hotel room for the four days, we'll be down Sat and Sun, staying with my stepson in the outskirts of Indy.
Critias
Just an FYI for folks, but right now me and a buddy have some extra sleep-space in our hotel room, especially on Friday and Saturday nights (another freelancer is crashin' with us Wed-Thu, but then he's got to jet back home for the weekend).

So if anyone's looking for a spot, and is cool with a rollaway bed or a couch or something to crash on, just holler. We're at the Fairfield Inn (by Marriott), which is pretty close to the action, but the more the merrier, to defray the room costs a bit. wink.gif
CanRay
I got my train tickets and room already booked.

Gotta see if I can make the meet & greet...

You've got a beer waitin' for ya, sometime over the con. Just remember to keep me in the loop about any SR games you sign up for. I want to be able to say "I was there when CanRay got to play," and tell my grandchildren about the glory of the slung dice.

Heh, I'm thinking about making buttons. nyahnyah.gif

Bull somehow convinced me to GM for a few demos.
nylanfs
I would totally have taken you up on that Critias, about 8 years ago, but for some reason my wife has strange ideas of sharing a hotel room with strange people. grinbig.gif
Doc Chase
Doesn't look like I'll be making it this year. :/ I'll have to start saving for next year's festivities.
CanRay
Damn, lots of folks I was hoping to meet... frown.gif

Well, we don't want an uncomfortable wife!

At any rate, I think we're all booked up at this point...I've got four people there the first two nights, and three of us the last two, so I'm not sure we wanna cram in too many more. I get the hotel cost defrayed a little bit, and other gamers get a roof over their head instead of trying to sleep in hallways or something. Everyone wins. wink.gif
Redjack
Hotel room for the wife and I are booked as well. Looking forward to a meet up and several good days of gaming. Anyone running a pickup game on Wednesday?

Got to wait and find out when I'm running official demos.

I think I'll only be doing pick-up games this year. Not sure how well I'll handle GenCon. dead.gif

Count me and LadyJack in. Let me know your schedule and we'll game some.
grendel
I could probably be convinced to run a game Wednesday night.
Redjack
Count us in for two... Would that convincing need food, drink or begging?
Critias
Y'all know I'm game, too. My plane lands around 4:00, so I should be in the clear by an hour or so after that. Just lemme know when, where, and what bribes to bring. wink.gif
CollateralDynamo
I'm looking forward to my fifth year of missions and the scramble and my second year of the tournament! This also marks the first year of the girlfriend attending Gen Con with me...lets see if I finally scare her away! wink.gif

I should be up by dinner time Wednesday and probably be looking to play in something, I'll at least stop in at Claddagh!

I'm partial to Code Red. That's usually enough to start/keep the game going. smile.gif Anyone have a suggestion on where we should run this pickup game?
Mister Shed
I'm down for a quick game, I've no suggestions for location though. Also as I'm not sure when I'm getting in Wednesday (or at this point how I'm getting there) I can't promise to make it at this point.

And on a somewhat related note, if anyone heading to Gen Con is driving from, or passing through, Kansas City I'm looking for a ride if you've got extra passenger space.
Bull
The Meet & Greet location should have game-type tables, and I sincerely doubt anything will be running in there Wednesday night after we're done. So that might be an option. People use open space like that all the time, especially on Wednesdays when there's no regular gaming going on.

And if nothing else, the M&G may be a good "gathering place" for everyone regardless. smile.gif
CanRay
Really gotta go over my tickets to see when I get to GenCon...

Sweet. Anyone fancy a game of Pathfinder?

If I'm available at whatever time you decide to start, I'm willing to give it a shot. Never played it (regular 3.5 is the closest I've gotten), but heard decent things about it. SR would take precedence, but half the reason I dig GenCon so much is the chance to try new stuff, too.
Shecky
I'll be there again this year. Hotel and Badge all set. I Might be up for a Wed Pickup game.
CanRay
OK, I get there on the 15th. I think.
Critias
Event catalog went live yesterday, in case anyone missed it.

Start diggin' and find some games!
Bull
As a note, there are still missing events from the Event Catalog. They have the RPGs and Mini's events, but a lot of the other events aren't finalized yet. For example,. the SR Meet & greet (Wednesday at 6 PM), the GM Boot Camps (Basic on Thursday at 4, Advanced on Friday at 4) and Whose Run Is It Anyway? (Saturday at 8 PM) aren't listed yet (Or weren't yesterday, they may have been added since then smile.gif)

Bull
CanRay
I might be late for the Meet and Greet on Wednesday.
Critias
Bull (or anyone else who's got a complete list), any chance you can post all the SR stuff here somewhere? It might be cool to get a big fat list of just Shadowrun stuff, and know it's complete, instead of folks havin' to dive all through the GenCon event catalog. If it's something y'all have handy, and could just copy-pasta real quick, that is...

Like Origins did, it'll go up on SR4.com once everything been finalized.
Critias
Swanky.
NorthernWolf
So event sign up was yesterday. How did everyone do? I managed to snag 3 SR Missions games before every single SR event sold out within 1 hour.
CollateralDynamo
I did pretty well in comparison. I was signing up for 7 (!) SRMs plus the scramble and the tournament. Even though I clicked the 'process' button at 12:00:02 (Eastern) 2 of those were sold out before I got my tickets! I was shocked!
CanRay
OK, I'll be in Indy just before Midnight on Wednesday, so I'll be able to make the meet & greet! biggrin.gif
Critias
I got into about 2/3 of the stuff I wanted, and the bright side was that one of the things that was sold out just opened up a time slot I needed to reschedule another one that was sold out; I've done the Privateer Press "speed painting" every year since it was a thing, and now it's just a fun little tradition, and an hour off from the rest of the con. I'm glad I was able to get into one, after all. None of my speed painted minis are gonna win prizes any time soon, but it's a cool way to spend $2 on a miniature, and have something cool to take home from every GenCon.

So who else is in the Scramble, at this point? Anyone feel like groupin' up?
CanRay
Now I have to figure out how the Generic Tickets work, and how many I should buy...

Generics are $2 each. You need a number of Generics equiv to the cost of the event. Missions are $6, so they're 3 Generics., for example.

OK, thanks. Now to figure out how many to get. Already over budget. frown.gif May end up just GMing. Again.
nezumi
I didn't realize you have to purchase your cart w/in 24 hours frown.gif I guess I'm GMing as well.
CrystalBlue
It makes me sad to see all of these people that GM all the time and never get to play.

If you guys want, I can kick my brother out of a few of the games and let you in to play some games and have some fun times. I know better then most how GMing all the time can be a drag. frown.gif
DWC
Through dumb luck and button camping, I managed to snag all file Missions events I was looking for, along with a Scramble spot, and I am open to getting recruited for a Scramble team.
LurkerOutThere
I have been blessedly able to get into games with generics most years. Of course the fact that I GM usually counts in my favor.
vladski
After years of going to GenCon annually,1993 to 2006, (yes, clear back to the Milwaukee days)... I am finally making it back! Back in the shadows. What could have changed? wink.gif What do you mean Deckers are Hackers? Meh. Oh, well. Trolls are still 9 feet tall, Predators are still your best friend and you still should never make a deal with a dragon. Right, omae?

This time I am bringing the next generation: my 15 year old stepson and his friend. This is after literally YEARS of him begging to be able to go. The stars aligned and this is the year.

It is unfortunate that all the SR events are completely sold out. I was possibly interested in the tourney. 2006, my last year there, I was part of Team Whiskey Tango Foxtrot that won the event. We had a blast. One of the best SR tourneys I had ever been in, and I had been in quite a few up til then. Oh, well, I guess there's always generics and begging of GMs.

I do have a question about the Wednesday Meet and Greet. The informal one at the Claddagh. Are they open to minors or is their an age cut-off after a certain time? I would love to swing by there and see some fellow DS'ers, but I am not sure what to do with the teenagers whilst doing so.

Vlad
DireRadiant
Clasdagh, minors are ok ealrier in the evening if we are inside and eating. Later on at night it's not going to work. I think after 9 they check id at the door.

Did you check on the Missions Scramble? It's an eight hour event, but that's because it's basically two games in one. Half of it's a LARP, the other half is a sit-down tabletop game (with the same characters, continuing/finishing the same session). Last I checked it still had some spots left, and it's a lot of fun.

Hey thanks for responding. Indeed, there are openings left for the Scramble. However, 8 hours starting at noon on Saturday is a little too consumptive of the time I have available. I am taking two 15 year old boys to Gencon this year and it's their first time. That would essentially eat the entire day I should be spending with them. The tourney was a possibility since it starts at night and I could spend the day with them in the dealers room, checking out exhibits and showing them around. I was hoping for a 3-4 hour session or two over Thr/Fri/Sat... maybe something that they could also get involved in. We will only be there thru Sat as I need to leave early Sunday and drive for 11 hours to get them back for school on Monday (and me to work!)

Thanks again for responding, tho! I am sure that we'll manage to get into something using generics and no matter what, we'll have a blast. smile.gif

Thanks for the data, chummer. Good intel is always helpful in planning a Run. wink.gif Your cred stick has been appropriately fed.

Hey, my Gen Con picture brightened up even more. I went to the GC website to check if there were any new SR events... lo' and behold, there were two tickets available for the Tourney! I snagged them up as fast as I could tear my credit card out of my wallet! Now, if I can just come up with a third ticket. Or, maybe I'll just let the boys play and watch from the sidelines. smile.gif

Really starting to get enthused about returning to GC. Seems all month has been about making plans and taking care of the little things:

1. Install new speakers in the Durango so we have a rocking roadtrip. CHECK
2. Get AC repaired so we can be chill while we rock on said roadtrip. CHECK
3. Dig out old GC paraphernalia so we can be pro's at the con. CHECK
4. Call old friends to let them know I am coming to Indy and staying with them for most of a week... um... I guess I had better get on that. blush.gif
