Basic concept:
Manna versions of elemental manipulation spells
You create a damaging/disrupting construct of manna and send it towards the target

Possible effects:
Works on Astral.
Only works on astral?
Could be used to shoot (dual?) creatures by passing through walls?

Comments? Suggestions? Better Names?

Just take any Elemental Manipulation spell and strip away the Elemental Effect and Physical Spell modifiers. Raw magic that works just like the Elemental Manipulations, but obviously without any elemental primary or secondary effects, and it works equally well on the astral as it does the physical. -1 Power and Drain Level.

In other words, it's just an Elemental Manipulation version of manaball and manabolt using different rules. Probably not a good idea overall considering how uber-everything Manipulation spells are already, but if you really wanna do it, that's all it takes. It would still suffer all the problems while gaining all the benefits of an Elemental Manipulation spell, though. That includes not going through walls without destroying them first.

And on a side note, it's "mana" not "manna." smile.gif

It's monna, actually biggrin.gif

Well: Mana, Manna, Monna, Cica, whatever, do people think it's fair/bamanced with the modifiers ACL mentioned? Should it be an astral-plane-only spell or copuld it be used like Manaball?
A Clockwork Lime
As a mana spell it's not astral-plane-only. If you wanted one like that, you should/could apply the Restricted Target (Astral Entities) modifier, droping the Power by another -1.

What I was actually thinking of was the fact that unless it was an astral only spell, it would be exactly like mananolt but with a fixed TN of 4, thus somewhat broken/overpowered against any characters with will > 4.
A Clockwork Lime
Nah, there's still some significant differences between the two spells. Sure, it has a fixed TN, but you also have to deal with range and situational modifiers that you normally don't have to do with Combat Spells. The effect also "shoots" from you towards the target, so anything that gets in the way -- even if you don't see it -- can block the effect. You can cast a Combat Spell through bulletproof glass, for instance, but this spell would have to blast through it first, lessening its effect at the very least.

It should be a combat spell.

It doesn't have to deal with range. No magical attack does.

Oh yeah, sorry. Another house rule we use that I keep forgetting is a house rule. Had to make Optical Vision Magnification useful for a mage somehow. smile.gif
