Anyone know of excel sheets, or programs or such that work on macs? I find some excel files seem to lose something in conversion.

A given Excel doc should (heh, in theory) work fine if you're running the right version for it… (are you?).

For what purpose? What are you trying to do with them?

i'm looking for details SR4a char sheets. i found 1 that seems great but when opened it's drop down menus are not functioning....then again maybe they don't work. lol.

was reading all about hero lab but really i don't know if i want to pay $30 some odd for that (only cause it includes the supplemental stuff)

Hero Lab is now available for Mac and it is fantastic, though not free.

Hero Lab is awesome, but to get allt eh supplemental stuff will set you back a grand total of $85.

$30 only buys you the program, and the core rules.

For situations like the more obscure and specialty applications (like homebrew SR4 chargens), you might enjoy investing in Parallels (or Fusion, but Parallels generally is reviewed as 'slightly better'). They're frequently on sale or discounted as part of bundles. You can also use Boot Camp, but that's a pain.

For me, fighting through the books to chargen manually is half the fun.

I run VirtualBox on my mac / linux machines, with Win XP for just such occasions as these...Chummer works great on it...and VirtualBox is free

Just use Damians Sheet, it works "ok" in LibreOffice.
You may experience one problem though, oftentimes some cells with blow up to VERY big heights and make it all look a bit...messy.

Anyone know if Chummer will work with Wine?

Probably not - Wine would need Mono to run Chummer (uses .NET 4 I think?), and I think I remember Nebular saying that Mono wasn't full-featured enough yet to support Chummer...
