I've been thinking about the culture of Altered States (my alt-history technothriller Shadowrun campaign), and just taking random notes. One of the primary aspects of culture is Fashion. That said, here are the predominant fashion trends of 2032:

• Shamanpunk. Classic Amerindian in black leather, including fringes, feathers, and elaborate beadwork. Ribbon shirts or faux bone armor are also popular. More popular outside the former NAN nations than in.

• Brutal. Sort of a neo-punk aesthetic complete with black leather and metal studs, mohawks, combat boots, and silvered horn-rimmed shades (showing Neo-Noir influences). Seemingly adopted by every single Ork and Troll in North America.

• Neo-Noir. 50’s clothing, including hats, suits, and horned-rimmed glasses for men (watch an episode of Mad Men) and bright, single color dresses for women (evoking Marilyn Monroe's dress in the classic subway grate scene). So 2020’s, it first appeared after a revival of Noir films early in that decade. Still popular in the United States, except Seattle, Washington, and California. Most high class functions in the Eastern 37 will involve Neo-Noir fashion.

• Callywood. A Bollywood-influenced style popular in California.

• Aztec Fringe. A development of Shamanpunk that moves towards Mayan and Aztec influences. Popular in Seattle, Washington State, and the northern states. NOT popular in Ute Territory, Texas, or California. In fact, could get you killed.

If you intend to infiltrate, know your fashion.
