http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-19735959 I saw this on the BBC news and at once thought of sharing it here as an example of relics. Even the article says it seems to have more in common with Indiana Jones. It is supposed to be a Tebetan statue with a swastika in its belly. A common pattern for that part of the world. What is special is that this was carved from a meteorite and said to be absolutely unique. One of a kind, beyond price etc etc etc nuyen.gif should be appearing in the eyes of the more worldly of you.

Actually the more Runner minded are probably planning the heist as we speak.

Hmm. TOO rare. Unless someone specifically hires you to get it, don't bother planning (except as a thought excercise). Would be impossible to move on the black market, you'd end up stuck with it ... and whatever nasty juju got attached to it back in the 4th age (because in SR, that would indeed be a 4th-Age artifact, not something merely 1K years old).

Paging Ma'fan and Mika. Ma'fan and Mika, please answer the White Courtesy Commlink...

Actually being that its a rare meteorite I'd imagine it would be sought by anyone who could turn the stone itself into something worthwhile, such as a Radical agent or something

Money is no objective for me, priceless artifacts belong to a museum or like the Hope Diamond, should never be taken from the Indians at the first place (which was cursed to begin with). To the ancients, a meteorite would make them feel closer to a god or deity, like they actually saw it fall and they took the meteorite to make a statute out of the material. I seen the first "Indiana Jones" movie, the famous scene of how the Nazi treasure-hunters faced their untimely fates. eek.gif scatter.gif

Place your bets, ladies and gentlemetas. My odds have Ma'fan as the favorite; she's extra cheesed after that Fortune coin bomb Mika dropped in SL.

No, you really wouldn't. It's value is infinite as it is, but becomes finite when melted down.

The problem is, you can't sell something with infinite value.
pbangarth
But you could trade it.

Stealing something like this implies that you have a customer already.

I was thinking private collectors like the Atlantean society or big time spell slinger might think of it as a focus.

No mercury.
Snow_Fox
A lot of runs might be around it from groups that never lay a hand on it. People want to know about it, about WHO is asking about it and who is trying to get it. for example groups that don't have a use for it themselves "I'm sure it's a fake" may want to feed info to other gorupsa to try and get it, just to draw off resources
Tech_Rat
So, hire four groups of runners. Groups 1-3, info collecting, pay them, and they head for the hills. Group four: Lift it based on gathered info.

Bottled Demon

If it's been in the bottle for less than 300 years, it curses you and dashes off home.
If it's been in the bottle for more than 300, but less than 1000, you get a wish.
If it's been in the bottle more than 1000 years, you die by a method of your choice.
(How old is it? wink.gif)

Ask to die of natural death by old age.

Good plan.
Stahlseele
and, technically, you have thus been rendered impervious to ANY OTHER kind of death, if the spirit really decides to have your death exactly to your specifications . . because he has to help you get to old age and natural death, right? O.o
Tech_Rat
Good thing you mentioned the od age bit, because natural death has a variety of ways.

Bad plan. No comment about quality of life that you get.

And you can live a long time in very horrible ways.

Very true. The book this occurred in, the demon was trying to cheat (he'd only been in long enough to grant a wish) and the main character was thinking quickly.

End result: she got a half-wish,* the demon went back in the bottle, and it was clearly labeled to not be opened for another 100 years (by which point the main character would have died from old age, if not sooner) at which point the demon was free to go with no harm to the next fellow.

Her request was to find an appropriate gift within an unsorted hoard of mostly-junk (which also contained several other bottled demons). So it wasn't a very spectacular wish, but shortened her chore considerably (and as plot would have it, the gift was un-needed, but there was no way to know before hand).

And hope it doesn't have a way of aging you.

Remember, Spirits don't follow the rules of sorcery - some unique spirit MIGHT have time/space powers.
