Programming CCOC (http://ccoc.sf.net/) forced me to actually read the Matrix sourcebook. A few things I didn't understand :

1) What are Wireless FUPs ? Task descriptions of FUPs on p. 59 allow Wireless FUPs installation. Does anybody know what are these ?

2) What are the tools for the Design Task of Cyberterminal Constructions ?

3) What is the measure-unit of the Design Task of Cyberterminal Constructions ?

Answering these questions will surely lead to a better CCOC program (and thus for a better world nyahnyah.gif )

Thanks for your help !

2/3: As I understand it, cyberterminals are the exact same thing as dyberdecks, except without several of the things that make decks what they are. Specifically, the illegal stuff: hot ASSIST, Masking Persona Chip and Evasion Persona Chip. Other than that I don't think there's a difference.

What *I'd* like to know is exactly what the Application Design knowledge skill lets you design. Or, further, what specific Program Design Knowledge skill youneed to program each component of a terminal/deck (utilities themselves seem pretty straightforward, but spelling those out as well couldn't hurt.) I'd also love to see rules for building your own Matrix server/mainframe as well as a Host (the servre's analogue to the Icon is how I see it; is that right?)

1) FUP's (Fuchi Universal Ports) allow you to connect peripherals to your cyberterminal (monitors, printers, etc). Normal FUP's require a fiberoptic cable to connect the peripheral. Wireless FUP's don't.

2) Computer B/R Kit? Do you even *need* tools for the Design Task? (I dont have my books with me, and its been a while).

3) Don't know.

Well, I suppose we should ignore the first 2 questions and concentrate on the third one smile.gif I sent an email to WizKids.

1= FPU is a plug for accessories, wireless FPU is the same without wires, as said above. Basically FPU is like what youd plug your mouse cord into, while a wireless FPU is what youd use for a wireless mouse.

2= If you mean what tools are required for the design task, probably none. As long as they have access to a computer Id say it was okay. You could say it requires at least a computer b/r kit given the surrounding context of the section, but its not mentioned specifically so anything useable to record a plan or outline, such as a pocket secretary, should suffice.

3= Good question! Some of the tests are hours, some are days. Be nice to get clarification on which unit of time is the base of the calculation for this activity.

given that the Time section comes only one section before the Design Tests section, i'd look to that. that section talks in terms of days.

I implemented it as Hours in CCOC, analogical to Program Plan.

Ah, FUPs, because no one in the 6th world would buy anything called a U(s)B.
