Full Version: Decker app

I am wishlisting here, but since I am not a programmer, I can't answer my question. How difficult would it be to write an app for ipad/iphone/tablet, etc... that would simulate what a decker does during a shadowrun game? I mean, perhaps at best, it would be a mini-game, whose "programs" and layout were arranged by the GM, and when the need arises, the decker of the group busts out his ipad and plays the mini-game while the other PCs do their thing. Perhaps it could import relevant info from chummer or herolab, and then when something important happens, the decker could read the "file" or text on screen to the party, as relevant. I can't imagine it would need to be very complex, but it would solve the whole "everyone take 15-45 minutes while we run the matrix with the decker..."

That's...not a bad idea, actually.

It would definitely be a welcome addition in terms of RPing, in that since the player playing the decker really WILL be futzing around on their tablet/smartphone.

No idea how plausible it would be coding-wise though...

So you want a nicer version of this with levels (and probably character stats) set by the GM ahead of time?

http://sourceforge.net/projects/decker/

That does sound like a really good idea.

For anyone interested, there is interest in creating this app at the SR4 forums http://forums.shadowrun4.com/index.php?topic=11030.0 the call has gone out for folks willing to contribute.

I'll add my yea to this. I'd like to see something like that. Sadly no programming skills so the best I can add is enthusiasm.
