Nine Inch Nails has a new album out in September. Here is the first track
So new SR type music to go with the new SR edition. Sounds good to me. I figure there has to be more than a few Dumpshockers who need a new track or two for their games.

New Queencryche album coming out.

No Geoff Tate, so it sounds a little off, but otherwise, pretty good. And Queensryche *is* the official soundtrack to Shadowrun.

Hmm. I'd argue that but not much.

Not much to argue. If you looks through the art in SR1 and 2, the Queensryche Triryche Logo is all over the place. The original Shadowrun crew were huge fans.

The music's also got a lot of very strong cyberpunk themes running through it.

I'm a huge NIN fan (probably my favorite band) but I really hope the rest of the new album is better than this. The europop synthesizer garbage he's been making with Atticus Ross is getting old. Trent said this album was supposed to be a return to early NIN but this might as well have been a hidden track on The Slip.

Personally, I think you don't get more Shadowrun than the Year Zero album (especially the Great Destroyer).

Can't really comment on Queensrych. Never really been a fan.

Ok, not bad. It's very listenable. What woul you say is their very best song I can listen to?
Neurosis
I have learned stuff from this thread.

My first impulse is to say the entirety of their album Operation: Mindcrime. It's a concept album that tells a very cyberpunk style story through the songs and snippets of dialogue on the album. I think it's fantastic head to toe. Another album, Empire I think is actually stronger with some of it's individual songs, but the story and themes that tie Op:Mindcrime together are fun. One of these days I'm going to turn that into a full blown Shadowrun adventure.

A lot of their songs have strong cyberpunk themes... Abusive corporations or governments and the like.

For individual songs... That's tough. There's a lot of good ones. I'd say the title tracks for both those albums are some of the best.

Empire and Operation: Mindcrime

I'd also look at Jet City Woman, Silent Lucidity, Another Rainy Night, Revolution Calling, Suite Sister Mary, Eyes of a Stranger, Tribe, Take Hold of the FLame... Ok, I could go on, but... Then I'm just rattling off half their discography.

Seriously, get ahold of the entirety of Mindcrime and give it a shot. You want the full thing, because the little snippets in between the songs help tell the story.

Prime Mover
Mind crime and Empire both on our game day playlists back in the day
Prime Mover
Some KMFDM DOGMA.
Prime Mover
The Cult on that early list too.

Operation Mindcrime is definitely one of the greatest concept albums ever, and totally fits the "Man against the Machine" Paradigm. Other bands I tend to listen to while preparing or running SR games include: Danzig, Slayer, Motorhead, Nirvana, Prodigy, Lords of Acid, Smashing Pumpkins, Perfect Circle, Rage Against the Machine, Sisters of Mercy, Lacuna Coil, Alice in Chains, The Cult, and of course any older Nine Inch Nails.

I think that Anarchy X would make excellent Shadowrun trailer music. On the album, it's followed immediately (without pause) by Revolution Calling. I also love Speak and Spreading the Disease.

Eyes of a Stranger. For those of us who started in the summer/fall of '89 this was the soundtrack to Shadowrun.
CanRay
During my brainstorming sessions, I have Queensryche on the jukebox.

And speaking of SR music, take a look at the lineup for this music festival
