I have a pair of questions about chipjacks and expertdrivers:
First, if I read the expert driver description correctly, it applies to any skillsoft at all, right? Knowsoft, activesoft, and linguasoft? And this doesn't get restricted by skillwires for an activesoft, so for example an expertdriver of 3 and skillwires of 3 will give me 6 dice on a rating 3 Athletics chip?
Second, if an expertdriver is hooked up to one of the multi-slot chipjacks, do you have to designate which slot it applies to or can it apply to any of the slots on the fly? So could a character with a Negotiations chip and a Pistols chip use the expertdriver for the Negotiations and then switch on the next action to Pistols (when negotiations fail, heh...) without ejecting and reslotting the chips? And if so... free action? Simple? And can you then split the expertdriver dice pool between two chips, i.e. 2 from a rating 3 expertdriver towards negotiations and 1 towards pistols?

Don't have my books with me, but I believe that you'd have to buy an expert driver for each slot if you wanted the benifits to each chip.
If you've got a 3-slot chipjack and 1 expert driver, you'd have to designate before-hand which chip was in the slot with the expert driver.

1. Yes, it applies to any skillsoft.
2. Yes, you have to designate which slot is modified. Using a skillsoft jukebox plugged into the desginated chipsoft port or having headware memory routed through it will suffice for any skillsoft loaded into those devices, too. But even then you only get one active skillsoft (as opposed to ActiveSoft) per chipjack port, so there's no splitting of dice between different 'softs or anything.

Are you sure on this?
IIRC, the CED is only available for a chipjack and headware memory requires a knowsoft link, not a chipjack...

The CED is only available for a chipjack, but some people like to expand on its functionality.

Hence the use of the word "routed" as in "using a router to allow Headware Memory to communicate with the Chipjack since they don't normally do so." Sorry for not clarifying that originally. See M&M p. 22 and 46 for more information on routers and interconnectivity between devices that don't normally transfer data to one another. The router is basically just turning Headware Memory into a Skillsoft Jukebox... and considering the costs for both, that's not a real savings either way.
A Chipjack Expert Driver is indeed an accessory only available to Chipjacks and aren't normally available to Datajacks, even those with Knowsoft Links. That's why I didn't even mention those.
