I know Dundjinni is coming/is out with a very nice map creator for the fantasy genre of games. Object layer based with awesome detail. Does anyone know if there is something out there on the net similar but in a modern setting. Kinda like the GPS maps in Dragon Magazine? Just wondering if anyone has seen anything.

Look for a program called AutoREALM -- I've used it to my satisfaction to create maps for buildings, and while there are some bugs, if you save often enough they don't cause too much problem. One of the nice things about this program is that you can make scaled maps to graph or hex paper -- very nice when planning out something that will be drawn on a battlemat later!

It's also open source, so it's free. Look for it on Sourceforge.net.
