Hi. Can you use the Laser spell as a laser window tap??
The Laser spell duration is instant, so this would have to cast several time I guess or create a modified spell.
Do you think this is possible??

well, you'd also need to design some kind of translation spell, and cast it while maintaining your low-power laser spell. i mean, i don't know how to read microscopic quivers in a reflected beam of light in order to derive speech sounds from it.

Wouldn't clairaudience be easier?

Didn't look anything up- maybe it WOULD be easier to handle and resist drain on a laser spell and a translation spell... *shrug*

or make a spell that combines clairaudience and clairivoiance (usually called clarisentience in my group) so you can see and hear what's going on.

Window laser tap spell. What an appealing idea! Think about it, it is an elemental effect and astral barriers don't work. A mage or spirit watching for a spell being cast or being active nearby wouldn't detect it. I like this idea. I would probably require two spells to be cast and maintained, thus making it a tough trick, but still possible. Laser Tap and Interpret Laser Tap, with Laser Tap being Elemental Manip, and ILT being Detection.
Too bad I am not playing a mage right now, my GM would love the concept!

Astral barriers work against elemental manipulations.

Oops, missed that line in my excitement.

Well, it's not really that huge of a deal, as usually wards are on the inside of rooms rather than the outside of a building.

Why would you want to cast as much as 2 spells for that purpose when we already have laser-microphones in our present time? I would suggest walking over to your local "shadowrun supply store™" (in game) an pick up the laser microphone, a headset and an extra battery pack.
That way anyone in your group can listen. You could even record the conversations to extract voiceprint IDs.

Because sometimes people find it suspicious that you're pointing some technological gew-gaw at the local Aries office building?

As opposed to a guy casting spell around said office building?
You could just hide the microphone in a car or under you clothes (think long black leather coat). Ok, that coat suggestion might not work on a hot summer day but you get the point. It's all about integration of the multiple aspects of reconnaissance.

Yes. At least 99% of the population has absolutely no ability to see or detect that method, unlike the tech version. I'm not saying that one is obviously superior to another, simply that the magic version does have some significant advantages attached to it (something you challenged in your first post).

Ok, point taken...
I guess that there might indeed be a reason to use the spell combination.
But then again, I've no idee how small laser-microphones have become by 2063.
I think we should continue the discussion in 59 years...
*takes out his calender for 2063*
My motive for my first post was just to give some alternative to the magic approach.
