Alright folks--
This is the recruitment thread for the second Bounty Hunting team.
QUOTE (Ecc) |
The group will be both paranormal and criminal bounty hunters. Characters are to be built with 130 points. Then you can tack on 100 karma, buying nuyen at 1 karma for 10000 nuyen. Initial Creation--Max rating 8, Avail 12. Cultured, Beta are ok if you have a background for it. |
I'm going to take all the characters that were submitted to Ecc and any new submissions sent in before the 26th. I will get this show on the road Monday September 27th. Yes, I know it seems like a short recruitment period but that's why I'm accepting the people that didn't fit in the other game.

The more detailed a background I have, and the more team-friendly a person is, will be the main two determining factors in who gets in and who doesn't.

Sparky--Feel free to send more than one in. I'll look at whichever one you send last unless you tell me otherwise. By team-friendly, I'm mainly going off of personality but I will try to make a balanced team with all the necessary skills.
HMHVV--Something that gives me a feeling for who the person is moreso than a bunch of numbers on paper. If the character seems to breathe, the background can be 2 sentences or 10 pages.

I will give everyone a quick overview of my character JT...I will also post my background in a few mikes. ----
J.T. Taggart is an aspected dog shaman (sorcerer) and his familiar-like German shepherd, Kane, rarely leaves his side. The two have been together since Kane was a pup. Raised as a police dog, Kane and JT worked on the force together for five years in Sacramento, and another five on the streets of Seattle as bounty hunters. Everyone that has come into contact with JT here in Seattle have grown to respect him for his loyalty, knowing that he always has their backs. As most dog shamans, he is a protector of his friends and family, true to those who return his loyalty. Sometimes stubborn as the way of his totem, JT can be single minded, but it is usually with the best intentions. Exhibit your kindness to this shaman, and you will have a friend for life.
Bastard
Sep 25 2004, 06:28 AM
Ok here is my background--if anyone has ideas of how we all came to be a team post it or send me pm--
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jason T. Taggart grew up in a well-to-do family in Sacramento, CFS. His father ran his own veterinarian clinic while his mom owned an exotic pet store that handled animals from all over the world. Though JT had access to all the technological wonders of the sixth world, his childhood was spent camping, hunting and fishing around the American River, Tahoe and the Sierra Nevadas. At an early age he had a gift with animals, they all seemed to love the little tike...which was unfortunate for the deer that he hunted with his father.
In high school one of his teachers realized that he had much more than a gift of woodsman. Mr Jenson could sense his strong magical aura and notified his parents that it would be in young JT's interest to go to a school where his skills and powers could be developed. The very next week JT was enrolled in Napa Valley Magic and Metamagic Learning Institute (also known as the Napa Valley M&M Institute) for gifted high school and college students. The school allowed open interpretation for the students, allowing them to find there own way in the world of magic. Let it be shaman or mage, the Institute did not decide...only to guide they young minds in their awakening.
At the age of 18 Jason had graduated and was ready to move onto college at the M&M Institute. He found his calling under the Totem of Dog. His professors knew if he continued his studies he would be a great shaman, but JT had other plans. As you know the Dog Shaman is loyal and trustworthy, everything JT believed in, but there was something missing at school. He missed the thrill of the hunt and the prowess he had for the rifle as young kid in the wilderness. Where could he combine all his life's desires? Law enforcement.
Officer Taggart had little difficulty in the academy, he learned quickly and the physical training not only strengthened his body, but also his will. A year out of school JT made Corporal and was training for Sargent so he work for the K9 Unit, but the Police had other ideas for him. Magic was very valuable to the department and they could use Cpl Taggart's skills there.
This did not deter JT, instead he used the position to gain his rank then transferred over to the K9 Unit by the age of 20. It seemed like he had everything in life he could ever hope for, and he did for a while. He went through the ranks quickly, but when it was time for him to advance to lieutenant, he ran into what they called "reindeer games." Office politics as they are called elsewhere, some looked down on SSG Taggart because he was a shaman, or because he was K9 and not a tactical officer, and the mages looked down on him cause he was not a full magician. Others didnt like him just for being young. The same old shuffle, its who you know not what you know.
After a year or so of being passed over, the 28 year old aspected magician decided that it was time to move on. Somewhere that he could at least put his input in, and that his coworkers would appreciate his loyalty and honesty, but where he could still use his knowledge of animals, firearms, wilderness survival, tracking and hunting. He would become a bountyhunter, but not just of criminals, he would also track big game...the awakened kind.
JT Taggart resigned from the force, taking with him his K9 partner, a large 5 year old german shepherd named Kane. Where else would he start his new life but the metroplex and crime capitol of Seattle. There definitely would be some work there for someone of his skill.
After five years on the job in Seattle, JT has made quite a name for himself. He is known for his ability to always find his mark, and for his loyalty to his friends, family and "teammates". Starting off with nothing but his savings and his dog, JT has created a wide web of friends and contacts, and would never leave Seattle (except on the job of course). He has found his calling...and now with his name out there, he can start reeling in the big fish.

The story of Gonzales starts in the… Frag it I am telling my own story here, and I ain’t gonna use the drek eatin’ language used in bloody upper circles to tell it.
I grew up in the Meta part of downtown Seattle; my younger years were spent in school and having fun with my friends. There were 5 of us back then, Carl, Johnny, Myself, Lisa and ‘Nique. We played the usual kid games, built tree houses, did all the usual suburban kiddie stuff that so many shadowrunners wished they could have done as a child. At the time Carl was my sworn best friend forever, we've become more distant since then, but that's another story.
When I was 10, Carl came round to my place and told me about a new part time job he got, a paper route. Sounds pretty lame now, but to us it was more Nuyen to spend. Carl also got me a job there and soon we were using our fetish for Roller blades (they let me keep up with the damn elf) to deliver papers all over town.
A couple of years go by and someone offers us a ‘promotion’ to be package and data couriers in the corp district. Being kids we snapped up the chance to earn more “bling” (a neighborhood slang for money). When Carl’s folks find out, they seem a little concerned and ask us to come with them to see a friend of theirs. We figured that Carl’s folks' friend was a doctor or something that was going to try and talk us out of what we really wanted to do. Not even close. She was a doctor, but she didn’t plan to stop us. She was to give us cyberware. This lady was cool! She introduced herself to us as Christina D, and showed us what was going to be placed in our arms… Smartgun Links.
My parents were less than thrilled at first over these developments, but there wasn’t a lot they could do as the implants were in my arm before they knew. After the scarring stopped hurting I found my new gun arm to be very accurate, as a couple of gangers who tried to stop me could testify. Gel rounds don’t kill (mostly), but they hurt, a LOT. Gangers messed with Carl and me less after that. I also went back to Christina D when a Lone Star Citymaster crushed my feet, Lone star’s insurance helped defray the cost of my new feet, and my saved courier pay added the cyber skates.
A few years Later ’53 I think it was. One delivery went to a guy called Jason, and he read the letter before letting me leave… Apparently Jason had been asked to find a “skip”. Only problem is Jason’s entire stable was working at the time. This is how I got my break and got into the bounty hunting business. The rest as they say, is history.
Most of my other ware was picked up after either a very well paying bounty or a very painful one, if I did well on one I would treat myself to some cyber or bio that I thought would be cool, if I got halfway smeared I would acquire something that would keep me alive next time. The Synaptic was one of the smartest choices I ever made, as it enables me to think faster and not suffer the street Sammie problem of act before I think. The tail has been a nightmare on occasion but it has also saved my life twice when I had to make long jumps. The hand blade was acquired after a time a skip caught me with a taser, and locked me up I wanted a way to cut open doors and similar. The rest of the parts bear similar stories.
The blood shaman job.
QUOTE |
'57 was a very interesting year for me. The election and related situations cause all sorts of job opportunities for me. Unlike some bounty hunters, I take corporate contracts as well. and so many people were posting bounties for all sorts of things. I still remember the bounty for tracking down and finding some dragon egg, just find it and tell the employer. Apparently some runner team of patsies had it and the egg got home safely. The death of the dragon at the end of '57 was a surprise. But the will was a shock. I saw some opportunities in that, as soon as I got out of hospital, that is. I looked into the bounties section of the will and found that Toxic and blood shamans were bountied. I spent a few months tracing one down. The first three leads petered out as the toxic in question was taken down by someone or other. then I got a break. A former Azzie blood mage named "Kano" after some old flatvid, had returned to his blood magic ways, with a Vengeance. I contacted Jason. He told me that a newcomer in the scene was avalable ad he felt I needed a magical companion for this one. I asked him about the catch, and Jason told me that a friend of his in lone star asked me to set his buddy up with a more experienced bounty hunter as his buddy was changing careers. I agreed, glad that the weefle was at least experienced in catching bad guys.
How wrong I was... not about the experienced part, about the weefle part. This guy was skilled, and good at tracking. He was able to find out from his contacts about this "Kano's" past. Apparently this sick fragger wrote his thesis on the joys of blood magic. and had gotten worse...
We tracked the ma... monster to a warehouse in Redmond. He was preparing to summon a blood spirit for some ungodly reason. We took position to take him down, and, he noticed us. He fired a colt manhunter at me knocking my taser out of my hand. That's when Taggart's dog came into play he wrestled that sick magician's staff out of his blood drenched hand. and bought us some time.
Kane and Kano wrestled as I struggled to my feet and Taggart Banished the Blood spirit. As I got to my feet I saw Kano knock Kane aside with a sword swing... "NOOOO!!!" Taggart cried as he leapt to his dog's rescue and Kano moved in to finish the mutt... for the purpose of launching a killer spell, of course. He never got that far.
I always consider it silly to ignore one combatant to focus on another when you are alone, Kano made this mistake. So as he went over to taggart, I pulled out my Supersquirt II and let him have some Gamma Scopolamine in the back of the head... This put him down for the count.
After this I considered Taggart a good partner to have, Loyalty and competence are two traits I look for in a teammate and this guy has them in spades.

Some Contact data:
[ Spoiler ]
Carl Mattherson L1 contact.
Elven Courier
Caucasian Elf, 6'0" Pale skin, blond hair and green eyes. A penchant for Cuban cigars and Caribbean rum, hence his poor abode...
Carl and I grew up together. Both of us became fast friends when we were 4 years old. since the trid at the time (2040) was somewhat tolkeinesque the main theme of elves and dwarves was they didn't get along... and since both of us were at the stage where rules were meant to be broken, we became friends to spite the trid. when we were 10 (2046) we both got part time jobs after school as paperboys, two years later we were 'promoted' to inner city package couriers (using rollerblades no less) we had long discovered a mutual love for rollerblades due to the fact that it meant I could keep up with Carl. Carl also helped me to the hospital after the Lone star citymaster "accidentally" crushed my feet (fragging racist Stars) Since then he has become a secure data courier, and a rigger.
Johnny Moronic L1 Contact.
Troll "Decker"
Troll, 9' 6" Dark skinned, with black hair, brown eyes and horns that curl back along the skull.
Decker of sorts, has Electronics at 6 and Knowledge (Computer hardware architecture) at 6
Johnny grew up with me and carl, he was born troll, to human parents. During our younger years, when we watched the shadowrunner trid shows. Johnny always loved the deckers... he was fascinated about the idea of datasteals... We always used to make good natured fun at this, as trolls were known not to be deckers. "I'll find a way! I'll do datasteals that will make half the deckers of seattle green with envy!" was his response when we jibed him. He later realised that running the matrix was not easy for a troll so he did things another way. He studied computer hardware design and electronics for years, while Carl and I made nuyen as couriers, Johnny studied... making his parents so proud. He learned the designs used to make mainframes and how to extract data storage hardware intact. he has been a shadowrunner as long as I have been chasing bounties, and is a good friend to party with.
Jason Masters L2 Contact
Fixer: For Bounty Hunter Circles.
Dwarf 4'0" 65kg, Sandy hair, grey eyes, fair skin, dresses in amante.
I've been working for jason on and off since '53. Jason is the one who first found me in the courier service and suggested I try something a little different. We have developed a strong working relationship since then and often go to matchsticks together when we aren't working.
Sam the Man L1 Contact.
Armorer/ Fashion Guru
Human 6'2" caucasian with blond hair and blue eyes, good looking, and is all too aware of it.
Sam was introduced to me by Jason, who said I needed some serious fashion adjustment, (I was wearing nothing but rapid transit at the time) Sam showed me how to co-ordinate armoured ensembles for any occasion, and how to bring out the hidden beauty inside me... Yes Sam is gay, his Significant other is an Ork, and sam would love to be in the next edition of 'Queer eye for the Straight guy: Seattle'. He would do justice to it, as well.
Gemma L1 Contact
Arms and combat drugs Dealer
Ork, damn georgous 6'1" athletic figure, always dresses well (for obvious reasons) Raven black hair, purple eyes, and small tusks
Sam was the one who introduced me to Gemma, he said that if I was going for an armored wardrobe, "... that third hand Ares predator just will not do." I was taken to see gemma the next day and she fitted me up with the manhunter, along with it's accessories. she also showed me the advantages of long haul and offered to sell me some... that stuff has saved my hoop on long distance 'dead' jobs, it also meant that I didn't have to sleep until I got my man. although i don't regularly use it. Gemma is someone I consider a true friend, as she shows respect to all those she works with.
Christina D. L1 Contact.
Shadow clinic doc
Human 5'8" serious expression, Asian features, Black hair and green eyes.
Carl's folks, unbeknownst to us kids, were retired shadowrunners. When we got into secure data couriering, they took us to see their old friend Chrissie. Chrissie runs a small beta shadow clinic somewhere in puyallup. Carl's folks bought us both smartgun links that day (they said it was an early christmas present. and had Chrissie install them). My folks hearing about this, were somewhat angry... but Carl's parents pointed out that the ware was legal (they'd helped us get the permits) and that the gel round predators we had were non lethal. eventually my folks settled down, although my mother worried for some time after that.
Akira Nayota L1 Contact.
Bail Bondsman
Human, Japanese, 5'10" corporator, Black hair, Brown eyes,, expressionless face.
History/Relationships: Akira is a bail bondsman with ties to Renraku, Shiwase and Mistuhama. He met me in '57 when he needed a bond jumper tracked down, I did the job adequately, more than adequately actually, but Akira is short on praise. Nevertheless he started hiring me on a semi regular basis after that.

McQ---All our weapons are registered-right. Should we send our teammates our characters also? That way anyone still working may see a whole in the team and fit that into their design. It would kind of suck to catch a large paranormal and not have a way to get him out of the woods other than rope and a large stick.
Kremlin--nice work...forgot to mention, I try not to use deadly force (or at least JT doesnt) unless neccessary, and he isnt a shadowrunner....cause that would be illegal---hehe. Love the way you worked COD in there--haha--I think that was one of my fav missions to run. Some one tried to take on Masaru-and earned the name Dragon Slayer.

Check out the spoiler section of my background you'll find Jason is a bounty hunter fixer not a shadow fixer also guessed non lethal force would be the order of the day.
FYI Kano was one of my old characters, semi reformed blood mage. He fell in love with a free spirit (one he accedentally freed btw) and she led him to almost full redemption. That was about when the Gm forced her out of my life as a plot device and Kano went downhill... I figured this could be a good write out for one of my most realised characters.

Sep 26 2004, 02:51 AM
Ok, here's a bit more about Helios.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Personality Profile: "Helios"
Helios is a vampire hunter of the most dedicated - some would say psychotic - kind. In his mind, all of the Infected must be exterminated to make the night safer for metahumanity. His views have been criticized as reminiscent of Humanis-types, but Helios and others like him defend his actions by pointing out that normal metahumans don't prey on helpless victims by nature, while vampires and the like do.
This dedication does not necessarily make Helios criminally insane, however. Though he has been known to slay vampires without a contract or provocation, he never does it in such a way as to put him or teammates in danger or at risk of arrest. Indeed, he is very cunning and patient, waiting for the perfect opportunity to slay a target without being detected.
Helios normally works alone, but has been known to ally with other vampire hunters on occasion. He usually works well with these fellow hunters. On a few occasions, Mr. Johnsons setting up "dead or deader" bounty hunting jobs involving the Infected have called him in as a specialist to work with shadowrunning teams unfamiliar with such creatures. Typically these arrangements have worked out well, although he sometimes grows inwardly frustrated with his teammates "lack of support for the cause." Rarely does he make these feelings known, however.
This professionalism often manifests as a level of emotional detachment that often shows up during jobs. Outwardly, he appears to be the ultimate professional, rarely letting his cool composure waver. Inwardly, however, he takes silent satisfaction in each kill, and eagerly awaits his next mark.
One exception to this detachment is that Helios has a sense of humor that sometimes shows through on jobs, though it's something that most teammates find unnerving. Sometimes he'll make snide comments toward his prey in the heat of battle or make off-hand (and off-color) jokes to his teammates. He also has a running joke about his Walther MA-2100 sniper rifle, which he refers to (in a fake "redneck" southern accent) as his "Huntin' Rah-fle." He often speaks in this accent when observing or shooting at his marks from the scope of this rifle.

Short Profile of Grave aka Revenant: (the long psyche profile and bio can be found in the original thread)
He is an amnesiac. He doesn't remember anything about himself or who his friends are. All he knows is in the dossier that he was de-briefed with by his superiors while he was recuperating. He knows who he is, he knows what he likes and how he behaves, his erswhile personality, etc. He feels like an actor expected to play a role, that's why he moved to Seattle and hooked up with Clark's security company and is working as a bounty hunter.
He is not so naive as to believe everything he is told or that the world is black and white. But his new personality is still fairly unscarred and uncynical, he is willing to believe the best of people and behaves is an old fashioned all-American kind of way - a handshake is a bond and a man's word is his honour.
He has flashbacks when he's headaches or fevers or groggy (basically, Stun S damaged?). During these flashbacks, he sees people from his past. These flashbacks act as a link or gateway to the memories that are somehow locked away by his conscious mind.
