Marko Djurdjevic, terror specialist? grinbig.gif

Try editing out your sig. It will make Synner's life easier.

Also: Minor editing to the Aztlan article.
JongWK
Synner, could you please summarize what you want for February's edition? Hawke's editorial mentions several issues, but I'd like to have a complete list of topics.
Synner
Hawke's editorials are very general guidelines and mostly I only mention the stuff I know I will be putting in. This time I mentioned Kanada's Protectorate reporter because I think it was an interesting post in the last issue and there's a lot of public interest in general about that particular situation.

What I can do is mention a few key timeline events for February 2063 that might be relevant:

- The Eurogovernments and eurocorps announce the NEEC will be inaugurated earlier than originally anticipated (in DotSW) and will now be launched in April (SSG).
- There are minor clashes on the Salish/Tsimshian border but the situation will calm before April (possibly due to Sovereign Tribal Council intervention).
- Minor clashes also between Pueblo and Aztlan in southern California over the latter's incursions Mojave, rumors of PCC backroom deals with CAS ensue.
- A number of missing person's cases reported in Las Vegas.
- Renraku Arcology is finally cleared (minus about 10 floors) in February and March. Discussions begin over fate of the Arc between Seattle metroplex and Renraku (SSG).
- Tir Tairngire begins massive tourism campaign to boost economy (SSG).
- First clash between New Zealand preservationists and Japanese Pacific fishing fleet. (SSG)
- Rumors of failed hostile takeover attempt of Frankfurt Bank Association by Proteus AG (SSG, Shockwaves).
- Frankfurt shadowland node crashed by unknown parties (Shockwaves)
- Leonard Aurelius and Damien Knight meet face to face for the first time in four years during the Grand Ball in Paris marking the end of the Grand Tour's 2063 Winter Season. Lofwyr appears at same ball with Ladmilla Reanka on his arm. (DotSW, SSG)
(more as I dig them up)
Kanada Ten
Can we get one of these summaries in the back of every book?
JongWK
SNI Edit: Kyle Fox = James Red Fox.

BTW: Come on guys, let's have this second issue in time. smile.gif
Kanada Ten
For the record, Static ke'Raeint can never talk about terrorists inside Tir. He lives there and would like to continue living.

QUOTE (Kanada Ten)

That's a thought... But seriously maybe its something that can be done on the website as the books come out and the timeline progresses. I'll bring it up with Rob.

Anyway if there's enough interest I'll continue to provide one for this thread.
Kanada Ten
I think that could work well (either web page or here).

Then we could have an "In Brief" section like the local paper. Just wrap up everything not covered for February by authors in segments of three sentance paragraphs.
JongWK
Anyone willing to do an article from Hong Kong or Japan?
JongWK
Another one, which will hopefully bring back some nasty memories. wink.gif

Come on guys, keep 'em coming! smile.gif
Synner
For those that are following, that last post was a loose tie-in to DotSW and SoE. wink.gif

I'll be posting more stuff tomorrow.

Kanada Ten
Horray for forgetting the year! AND Horray for EDIT!
Well, SotA doesn't say when the albums were released, so I made it December 2062 nyahnyah.gif

Synner, is the WMI "rules set" slotted for SotA:64?

Synner
That's still very much on the drawing board. The WMI originally came up in T:M IIRC, and both Jon Szeto and I took a liking to different aspects of it which carried over into DotSW. The background of the whole thing, Erika Telecom and how it came about should be in SoE. The current timeline calls for the system to be wide scale beta-tested in '64 so I doubt the tech will reach the streets by SOTA2064 (which if true to form should be dated Nov/Dec 2063) and when/if it comes online it will be first as a structural network upgrade rather than a user-end upgrade. What exactly it does beyond "contained direct Matrix linkage"or how it does it is subject to immense speculation - and all interested parties please report to the Scand Union for runs.

However, I do have plans for it and certain spin-off tech will be making the rounds if I have anything to do with it. As of DotSW (February 2063) Celedyr has snatched up partnership in the WMI from Lofwyr and takes round one.
Synner
Just noticed. Jezzuz, you guys are on a roll. I spend a day away from the computer and you turn in 4 articles? Should do it more often.
Fortune
Or not! smile.gif

Synner: Are you eventually going to release a .pdf version of the last issue?
Synner
I'm working towards getting a copy of the Adobe Acrobat package which includes the plugin. I can't guarantee when I'll have it though.
Wonazer
When is the deadline for this current issue? I am continuing to add fluff and want to know when I should stop...

Also, by the lack of respone I assume that I have been consistant with my names, dates, etc.?
Synner
I'll wait until we've got more or less 25 posts before closing this edition of the NSI. I've got a couple of pieces to upload - a market update and a media piece - but I'd also like to see at least one Sports news item and a Night on the Town nightspot/restaurant review if at all possible.
Synner
Sorry for the absence but my PC has been acting up. Posted the first of three reports. Still looking for a Sports and Night on the Town items though.
Synner
Anyone?
Kanada Ten
What do you want for Night on the Town?
Synner
Basically the ideal would be a nice location profile done up like a critic's review, see the one in last month's issue.

Regarding Sports I can probably come up with something but if anyone knows Baseball I need some results for the Seattle team since I have no idea how the scoring works.
Shadowrunner13
I'm familiar with baseball, but when is this issue supposed to be in print? If this is the February issue, Baseball may be in down time before spring training...

If that doesn't matter, I can look into doing a baseball game write up for ya...

SR13
Synner
I had no idea that Baseball had a winter break. That'll cover the needed explanation for the scoreboard at the end of the NSI. Are there similar breaks for the NBA and NFA?

Fortune
Hockey and Basketball run from fall to early summer (Oct - Jun). Baseball goes from spring till late fall (Apr - Oct). Football is in the fall and early winter (Sept - Jan).
Synner
Anyone?
Synner
Thanks Kanada.

Apologies about the delay with Issue 2 to all involved a combined virus problem on my PC and the fac that I'm spending the holiday season out od the country has kept me from completing work on it. I will be back on Jan 3rd and get right to it.
Synner
Okay, I'm back and ready to roll.

I'll have NSI issue 2 edited later this week (probably won't be introducing any new layout yet though) and will kick off a new IC thread tomorrow. Thanks for the patience.
Synner
Issue 3 is up and running. I should have two articles posted tomorrow night one of which concerns the NEEC announcement in the editorial. The remaining stuff in the editorial is up for grabs although I'll get to them if no one seems interested.
Nath
QUOTE (Andrew Hawke)
Following this will be reports on the worsening corporate feud between Ingersoll & Berkley and Gaiatronics and the fallout for the wider Snohomish community.

You probably meant Ingersoll & Berkeley and Gaeatronics ?
Synner
Thanks, it was late and I was tired.
Synner
Apologies for the tardiness but RL keeps hitting hard.
Kanada Ten
"...consitutional protocols in January last,"
last Januray

"The 200.000-strong protest held in Vienna..."
200,000

Real Life is the enemy of us all. I've got ideas for a Night on the Town and others, but we'll see how much time I find for it.
JongWK
Shadow: IIRC, Kyle Morgan was an assassin in Mercurial. He'd been killed by Aztechnology by the time of DotSW.

Just a correction. smile.gif
Kanada Ten
Synner, I've got a plan for April in San Fran. You could mention a "riot" or "hostage situation" in that month's editorial.

[EDITED] Also, a political shakeup in Portland (with syndicate action on the side).
Kanada Ten
Bah, humbug. Any Portuguese speakers want to comment about my use of words and slang? Please?

JongWK
Well, don't look at me. I've taken classes, but my portuguese is still a very good russian silly.gif Synner? Bira? Artemus?

On the other hand, you might like to revise the name of the Argentinean reporter. It's the first time in my life I meet someone named Maíza. wink.gif
Synner
Sorry guys, I've been flooded. I'm trying to catch up but paying jobs take priority right now.

There's nothing really wrong with the Portuguese, except nuances. For instance the style is simply known as "Samba" whether it is sung or intrsumental. The full form is necessary for "Música Popular Brasileira" (which btw these days is used for a style similar to country-pop). "Bahia" needs an add-on in its simple form it means just the region rather than the sound (known as Tropicalismo if you mean Caetano Veloso and Ney Matogrosso style melodics or Foró if you mean the rugged Samba-rock fusion of recent years). I don't recognize "Forma Velocidade" which I take to mean you've made it up but it sounds cool for some form of Amazonian thrash rock hybrid sound.
Kanada Ten
I'm glad Forma Velocidade sounds "cool" as the online translators sugue muito.
Synner
Close enough.
JongWK
*BUMP*

Let's keep this moving, I don't want the corps to silence the Truth. wink.gif
Kanada Ten
What a weird... anyway.

Anybody remember the name of Ersatz!'s competitor? Books (SotA or SSG, I think the latter) at home and I know I'll forget to look it up. Unless someone posts, then I'll remember it. I have an idea for a sports report on the Drone Football scandal.

I hate doing more than one in a row though.
Synner
Finally getting my head above water and managing to post. I hope to be back to speed by the end of the week.
Kanada Ten

Um, I guess Nath's story on Proudtree should go before mine in the cronological order, eh? They don't seem to conflict otherwise.

QUOTE (Kanada Ten @ Mar 18 2004, 09:15 PM)
Um, I guess Nath's story on Proudtree should go before mine in the cronological order, eh? They don't seem to conflict otherwise.

Now I reread both, I should have introduced more details about an international career of Prdoutree to justify "his track records of neutrality". The same goes for the said "lineage of mixed tribes" that I don't explain at all. Well, I can't put it at the top of the threat, but there's still the edit option.

A recurrent question I ask myself concerns the publication date of SI as it's a monthly news magazine. I guess the "March issue" is actually published on April 1st covering the events of March. I did it myself but articles shouldn't contain reference to "yesterday" "next thursday" "two days ago" and so on.
Kanada Ten
You're right. I tended to think of the SI as a collection of news articles, but it's actually more like Reader's Digest... Humm... I'll have to rethink everything.
Synner
Apologies for the continued absence but on top of everything else on my plate I just got greenlighted for some freelancing. I'll add stuff as soon as I can find the time.
