Animosity
Value: -2 to -6
A character with Animosity suffers from a deep-seated, destructive hatred of a certain group or thing. Determining the value of this Flaw requires two steps. First, determine whether this group or thing is Uncommon (-1), Common (-2), or Extremely Common (-3). Then determine the severity of the symptoms: Mild (-1), Moderate (-2) or Beserk (-3). Add together the appropriate point values for the condition and the severity to get the final Flaw value.

Uncommon: Groups like porn stars, ghouls or astronauts: things like posters for a particular band, old-style typewriters or laser pointers. Encountering the group/thing happens rarely.

Common: Groups like Bear shamans, CAS citizens and baseball fans: things like vending machines and toy balls. Encountering the group/thing could possibly be avoided if the character put an unreasonable amount of effort and inconvenience into it.

Extremely Common: Groups like elves, blacks and stupid people: things like soda cans, street signs and cars. It is impossible to avoid encountering the group/thing constantly without becoming a hermit.

Mild: The character really hates the group/thing. If a group member, they do whatever they can short of violence to disadvantage that person, and if he could reasonably resort to violence he will do so...but unless it's the sort of thing they usually do, they won't use lethal force. If a thing, they may attempt to damage or destroy it, or maybe hide it, but they won't put too much effort into it. A Willpower (4) test is neccesary to resist if the character needs to.

Moderate: The character's hatred is all-consuming. If a group member, they will immediately commence insulting or taunting them as soon as they notice a group member, and will attempt to kill them if it is at all feasable to do so with a few hours' worth of effort. If a thing, they will probably try to completely destroy it, and may stomp on, shoot, or melt the peices. A Willpower (6) test is neccesary to resist the compulsion if the character needs to.

Beserk: The character is enraged at the very thought of the group/thing. A group member will be brutally attacked on sight, and quite possibly their body will be mutilated. An object will be destroyed in the most comprehensive manner possible: emptying a full clip of EX-EX into a computer screen, for example, or dynamiting a street sign. A Willpower (6) test is neccesary to resist the compulsion if the character needs to: the number of successes is the number of half-minutes they are able to hold themselves back before succumbing to their rage.

Note that a Common or Very Common Beserk character will probably be tied up or imprisoned for most of the time to prevent them from going on a rampage!

Adversary Shamans are more common than pornstars? What a cruel, evil world we live in... frown.gif

Oh my. It's the new Allergy. Munchkins, start your char gens.

Moderate animosity toward "Everyone who isn't on my 'I like' list" has suddenly replaced vindictive, and gives 3 more points!

I'd just use the old Intolerance Flaw from SR2, with levels from 1 to 4.
Shadow
I like it!

I am going to use it on the next appropriate character.

I would add one thing to this Flaw; GMs should be careful to only allow it to be treated as a Flaw if it is something that most people don't normally feel animosity towards. Otherwise, I could easily see people taking Uncommon, Mild animosity towards child molesters, drunk drivers, and toxic shamans, getting 6 build points despite the fact that most people probably have "mild animosity" towards those groups of people.

So if the character is sufficiently wound up, can he just stroke out one day due to a poor dice roll? I mean, since it's been proven that frustration at stupid people does increase the likelihood of strokes and heart attacks.

heh...couple this with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and you've got a real big winner grinbig.gif
Cool Flaw!
DrJest
Er... why not just use the already-existant Intolerance flaw? levels 1 to 4, IIRC.

No, wait, don't tell me - <chorus> It got cut from SR3 </chorus> sarcastic.gif

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Vindictive doesn't include you seriously plotting the death of just about every pedestrian you come across and going ahead with it if it can be done within a few hours?

Not to mention that I already suggested this very thing ...

It does with some PCs. But, yes, the rules don't force that action from vindictives.

Probably not, actually- the fact that he actually kills stupid people sometimes would serve as a kind of catharsis. biggrin.gif

Point. I'll change that to a more common totem.
To qualify, Bear Shamans are Common in the shadows but Uncommon in the world at large...shadowrunners see a lot more of the Awakened than do others.
