Full Version: The Necromancer

Ancient History
Okay, see, back in the day this was an NPC I used with my 2nd-edition SR game. Found her stuck in the pages of my old Seattle Sourcebook. so I decided to update her to 3rd edition and present her to the community...y'know, in case you want to use someone like this in your games. A note: this character uses the old Summoning Talent Edge.

History: The Necromancer is a hermetic mage, originally from New Orleans, with a rather unique access to certain spirits types relevant to her area of interest. Her principle focus of study will be spirit lore, and she could make a lovely villian, specialist contact for a PC, or anything else you can dream up. Please note she's not a necrophiliac or that she needs to summon up a horde of undead monstrosities to satisfy a power trip (though she can, and could if you want her to). Rather, she prefers a scholarly existence: her current area of interest is in shedim.

A note: The Necromancer prefers to use spirits in combat, and will have one on hand at all times (usually an Ancestor spirit or Spirit of Ghede at Force:5). When summoning an Ancestor spirit, the Necromancer prefers to summon Great Form ancestor spirits, who resemble ancient, mythological elven heroes. She centers by speaking invocations in Coptic.

Female Albino Elf

Apperence: A slim woman, whose smooth skin belies her thirty years of age. Her sharply-pointed ears poke from her silk-fine platinum-blonde hair; and her slanted eyes are a piercing blue, surrounded by blood-shot whites. Standing nearly two and a half meters tall, the NEcromancer's pale ivory skin is stretched across a hideously thin exaggerration of the typical elven body, her breasts are small but firm looking, and her hands and fingers are exquistely long, tipped by silver-hued nails.

lol... except for that little tidbit of unnecessary information, that's an excellent NPC. She'd make a darned alarming villain!

Some whacked Player once bugged me to know what her rack looked like. <shrug>

Charisma:8

I'm curious how you explain this... I know charisma has many many non-physical aspects, but it seems a bit strange to me to have a physically repulsive character with such high charisma.

This doesn't sound particularly chic to me... I would call that Normal clothing if anything. What makes it so fancy?
Ancient History
Charisma is more than appearence (some people like the ultra-thin, pale look); the clothing...well, real materials for one, and I think it would look good on a girl...whattaya want? A designer dress?

Chiming in on the 'Charisma' thing...

Charisma is both 'appearance' and 'leadership'. If you rememer AD&D 2 Player's Option, those were the subdivisions, and it's apt. Abraham Lincoln had lots of charisma, but he was one ugly slot. Hitler was charismatic as well, but he's no supermodel either. They both had mad leadership tho, and that's how they got their charisma 'rating'.

Conversely, J.Lo. is attractive (to some people, that is), but if she was going to run for President, she'd be laughed off the podium. Arnold Schwarzenegger also has charisma (look at the California Election farce), but I'd not think that he's got all that much leadership potential.

All four people I've mentioned have Charisma, but not all of them are 'cute', so Charisma isn't just looks. Just because you look like Maria Mercurial doesn't mean that 10 air elementals are going to do what you say (or 5 Great-Form Ancestor spirits, or whatever). They do what you tell them because you exude leadership.

Ugh.. good to have that off my chest. That seems to be a common complaint....

More on the charisma issue...

...simple, she's so charismatic that she' capable of projecting into people some sort of energy, or presence that make her look like someone ya aint gonna mess with.

Verryy interesting, AH. You dont mind if i make a char. sketch out of her, would you?

I'm going to make an NPC for our MUD game named "Hitler" and give him fourteen or fifteen charisma.
Ancient History
Go 'head, Foxxy.

[/edit] I should note the reason I didn't give her Sacrificing. Basically, it would bea nice addition to the character, but it makes her far too much of a target for player characters looking to turn her in for a bounty.
