I have been searching for rules on something as simple as a gas mask but technically I cant find a basic description on any masks in the SR3 at all. I've looked up the CC but only see it listed on the large list of equipment but I cant find it in the book or any others? Can anyone simply point me in the right page?

Sr3.294 respirator dosnt block out all the gas but makes it a lot EZer to handle them

Yes I know and I am going to use the rules for that until i find some on the gas mask, however, I am referring to the item listed as a Gas Mask w/air tank on page 122 of the CC. I haven't found a description for it and am curious how different it is compared to the respirator.

Hmmm, how about a shamanic mask?
*ponders* What other masks are there....
The spell mask.
How could you go about making the unique focus 'The Mask'?
I think theres rules for masking your scent (as in for hunting) in one of the books.

That sounds more like an SCBA, and for an hour of air (give or take 15-20 minutes), you'd prolly need two tanks.

Probably, though an ordinary SCUBA tank would give about an hour of air to anyone who was just floating along the surface.

Another question. What ever happen to breathers in third edition? Did the air suddenly get a whole lot cleaner?

Isn't that just a respirator?

That is what I thought too, until I reread the description.

I'd guess they just scrapped the Fellini Med-Breather 'cause it had no practical use other than make the Gm keep track of the smog index.

Maybe the air got much much worse and a breather just doesn't cut it

Nah, the price for vat-grown lungs plunged when some company developed a way to factory produce them, and now, in the long run, it's cheaper to just wait till the lung is "used up" (takes roughly 20 years in Beijing and other industrialised chinese cities, and I doupt air in Shadowrun is worse than there), and then run for your hospital of choice and have it relaced, than to buy a new Fellini MedBreather every time the fashion changes (means, every 2 weeks).
Also, the "barelunged" trend makes socialising all the more easy - and BBQs feel a lot less like a day off at Stormtrooper camp.

I just started using the air filter from T:W to replace that.
