Full Version: Admirals Marchand and Doucet

I regularly (at least once a day) make a trip to the Sixth World Wiki and check out if there have been any changes. Recently, someone posted to the Quebec entry the following:
2010 - October 31, Québec secedes from Canada. (SoNA.102) Admirals Marchand and Doucet were on the front line of the independance of Québec and are now national heroes.
2021 - April 30, Goblinization occurs, and Québec is quick to extend full rights to all Francophone metahumans. Anglophone metahumans are left out. Admirals Doucet and Marchand invaded and annexed Acadia after a long and bloody naval battle against UCAS Navy's warships. Admiral Doucet ship sunk and the hero died in the battle. Québec commands a statue for his heroic memory

Who are these people? Are they canon? Or is this simply another person's attempt at injecting non-canon information into the Sixth World Wiki?

Non-canon crap, AFAIK.

The only other source that I know which I cannot check (due to not owning it) is the novel, "Run Hard, Die Fast", which has some information on Quebec.
The Question
According to NAGtNA, page 64-65, Quebec seceeded from Canada on January 1, 2000. This may no longer be canon, but its the only reference I have so I'm sticking with it!

Other than that, theirs no reference to even a shot being fired between Quebec and another country, nearest thing is it inviting the Maritime Provinces in 2017, an invite only Labrador accepted. They also invited UCAS to join them in 2017, but no mention of any naval battles between the two...

No info on its military, but I wouldn't have thought that Quebec alone could have beaten the UCAS navy in any kind of battle. Correct me if Im wrong, but I never thought Canada was known for its maritime might...

Either way, smells like male cow guano to me...

Interestingly enough, Canada did have respectable naval assets around the World Wars (barring subs, but can anyone be more precise ?). However that situation reversed itseld decades before the year 2001. Today we have a couple of very nice frigates for peacekeeping and the odd argument with Norway over frozen rocks in the Arctic ocean..

There is absolutely no way a newly-independent Quebec could inflict any serious defeat on even partial assets of the former US Navy, whatever rationale or mitigating factors one could try to find in canon. For that matter, there's no hint that independence for Quebec was anything but peaceful, if not barely noticed. But heck, if some of my fellow Quebec SR players want to develop their own alternate history (like I did), fine - just stay away from canon sources !

Thats the feeling I'm getting. Its less like oh my gosh, not Quebec! Send in the troops!!! From what I can see, the rest of Canada was quite pleased to get rid of them...

Well, the fact that they won with such a crappy navy against the UCAS is why those two are such big heroes! (Yeah, that's the ticket)

They could have had corp backing. What chance would eth Hawaiian islands have had without the Aries thor shots. Although something like that usually rates a mention

I'll remove those changes, then, and transfer them to the unofficial page. Quebec is one of those few entries that have both an official and unofficial page (although the unofficial page has a few crazy things in there, like "Zero Metahumans" intolerance policies).

Problem is, until the creation of the Free enterprise zones, Quebec had very few corps setting up shop there. Being forced to speak in French didn't go down too well with the AAA's...
