Miriam laughs and claps. You are a coniving bitch. I love that.

Help Oz finish the Posse. I'm sure you have a few plans of your own. Do that and you'll be Captain. Do it well enough to impress even Oz, and I'll make you sottocapo. Blake has his eye on the spot of course, especially now that Mancuso is dead. So does Cynthia. But I'm sure she knows you well enough by now not to challenge you for it if you're made Captain. Vince is as ambitious as you, but not as ruthless. There's competition for that seat at my table.

You already have a leg up. But then, they've been proving them selves for years. I know that you can run a business. I know that you can plot and plan. I know that your ruthless. Show me that you know how to wage war, and I'll push you past the rest of them.

Lady Door
Lucky contemplates Miriam's words for a moment and then nods. Very well. Lucky regards Miriam for a moment.
If we're being honest, Miriam... why did you ask me to bring Dante here? From what you've said you could have cared less if Sinn lived or died, why the concern for his son? ... or should I say, my son?
fistandantilus4.0
Because Sinn concerns me. Like everyone else, he has crossed me. I'll see to it that he knows that his son is in my house. The very thought will be more anguish on him than I could ever inflict. his imagination will inflict more dreadful horrors than I could ever conceive.

Besides that, I want to meet the boy.

Miriam smiles sweetly. So that we understand wach other Lucky, this is the last time that I will explain my self to you. Her voice is still sweet. The words are sugar coated venom.
Lady Door
Lucky takes Miriam's threat without reaction. By now, her mind is to numb to succumb to the fear she felt before, too strained past its limits to register the anger she would normally have felt.
I understand, Miriam. My apologies. I did not mean to overstep my bounds. Why do I feel as if I just sold his soul and mine?
fistandantilus4.0
Miriam finds a few other interesting places to put Lucky, starting with on her knees, and eventually taking her to bed with her. Lucky crashes hard from the Long Haul some time that night. When she wakes, she's still in Miriam's bed. Her commlink shows 1800, the next day.
Lady Door
Struggling to her feet, Lucky's first thought is Dante. She dresses quickly and splashes some cold water on her face in the bathroom. She opens the door of Miriam's bedroom and looks around, lost. Finally she pulls out her own commlink, using it to track Dante's.
fistandantilus4.0
She eventually finds Dante in the back yard. He's 'playing' with one of the cybered death machines they call 'dogs' here. One of Miriam's men is watching then play. He has a remote on his wrist. His name is Jason, a tall elven man that Lucky's only seen once or twice.
Lady Door
Lucky smiles and walks up, watching Dante play.
Hello, Jason. She waves when Dante spots her and nods, encouraging him to keep playing.
fistandantilus4.0
He waves back and keeps playing with the dog/death machine.

Where you at Lady Luck? Feeling any better? I know Mancuso was your boss. He looks genuinely concerned.
Lady Door
Thanks, Jason. I ... well, it's not one of my better days, you know? Lucky reaches into her pocket and pulls out her pack of cigarettes.
Can I?
fistandantilus4.0
Was about to offer you one acutally

He pulls out a nic stick of his own, offering her a light first, then lighitn up him self. He watches the boy and the "dog" play for a while, giving Luck some personal time. He glances sideways at her occassionally, but doesn't intrude more than that.
Lady Door
Lucky talks... not in one of her "introspective-quiet-time" moods... (wait, has Lucky ever had one of those??).
So, Jason... where you at? Lucky rakes her fingers through her hair and then tosses it over one shoulder, smiling at Jason. Her gaze seems to beg him to talk about anything but death and voodoo.
fistandantilus4.0
Doin' alright my self. Made 3 large off the last Tombstone's game. They seem to have the Predator's number. Take those guys every time ,even though the Predators are in third for the league. Makes for great odds. You in to the brawl at all?

Dante keeps playing with "Killer"
Lady Door
Lucky laughs. Are you kidding? Have you seen my truck? I'd own stock in the Tombstones if O'Neill would ever give up a share. Did you see that last game with the Cavaliers? I thought Bruno McNabb was going to kill Farrah. God, it was brutal. Game was fraggin' orgasmic. Lucky laughs again and takes a deep inhale of the cigarette, letting it roll out of her lungs slowly.
fistandantilus4.0
Jason seems to take a moment just thinking about Lucky saying the word "orgasmic". yeah Mcnabb is a hell of a Heavy. He ain't no Titan, but I saw him square off against IcePick once. Never seen an ork take on a monster troll like that before. Then there was that throw down with the Screamers lady Jansine back in '65. Never seen a guy take a shotgun blast like that and keep going. It was a goddamn Mossberg. Good thing they had a good cyber doc on hand to replace it with a cyber arm, or he'd have missed the next game.
Lady Door
Oh, I know. I keep telling Apollo... he's a fighter I manage... that the real money is in Brawl, but the guy's stubborn. Lucky sighs. Oh God, the '65 Terminators... now that was a team! I couldn't believe it when I heard Voodoo died... Lucky trails off, pissed off that somehow she broke her own rule and brought up both death and voodoo in the same sentence.
She just shakes her head and smiles at Jason again, enjoying the subtle interest in his eyes.
fistandantilus4.0
The two of them keep chatting for a bit, mostly about brawl, and whatever tangetns it happens to lead to. Enocuraged, Jason's flirting gets a bit more overt, although not pushy. Dante keeps playing with the dog. It's apparently very good at fetch. He's throwing a metal pipe. It's putting holes in it with it's "teeth", so that it whistles when he throws it.
Lady Door
Lucky laughs, the tension easing out of her muscles. It feels good to laugh again... though I shouldn't draw this out. I don't know how Miriam would feel about me flirting with her "help". God knows, Cynthia's told me enough.
After a moment, Lucky stubs out her cigarette in the nearby ashtray and smiles.
Thank you, Jason. It felt good to laugh again... I should go get a shower ... feel myself again, you know? ... Hey.. you ever get tickets to a game though.. you know who to call, right? She nudges him playfully with her elbow.
fistandantilus4.0
Damn right I do. Don't worry 'bout the kid, I'll watch him. I'm sure Miriam'll have lots for you to do, now that you're up and about. He waves a good bye and watches her go.
Lady Door
Lucky wanders back into the house, her eyes taking in the decor and the artwork hanging on the walls. Having had to take an Art History class as part of her major, she can tell that some of the paintings are originals.
Wow... she whispers as she walks through the house. Finally, she finds a room with her things laid out near the bed. She smiles and walks into the adjoining bathroom. Soon she's lathered up and enjoying the hot water.
No creepy ghost like thing. Bonus.
fistandantilus4.0
Lucky manages to finsh a shower without the water turning scalding hot or freezing cold as it does so often at home. She lingers a bit longer just to enjoy the sensation. She dries and dresses, taking her time, for once actually having that luxury. Being a house guest, voluntary or not, at least means that she doesn't have to be anywhere "right fragging now".

Wandering down stairs, she tracks Dante now to the parlor where she shot Terry last night. Entering the room in a bit of a panicked rush, she fins it remarkably gore free. Dante is in the room, sitting on Miriam's lap, playing Dunkelzhan's Quest.

Miriam smiles. He's really quite a bright boy.
Lady Door
Lucky freezes for a moment and then relaxes. She smiles.
Yes, he is. Lucky sits on one of the chairs facing Miriam, her face calm.
I'm sorry I slept so long. A hazard of the job, I suppose. Lucky watches Dante as he plays, noting the green nanopaste.
As long as I can keep her from mentioning Sinn, I think we're okay. If she tries to turn him against me...
fistandantilus4.0
Dante waives as Lucky sits, then goes back to his game.

Then I suppose it's a good thing you were here when you crashed. This young man and I have been playing most of the day. It's amazing the amount of energy he has. He's been quite amusing.

Dante just smile slightly and keeps playing.
Lady Door
I'm glad. Well, since he's so good at amusing himself with that thing... why don't you and I take a dip in that luscious looking pool I saw out back? Lucky smiles.
fistandantilus4.0
[ Spoiler ]

fistandantilus4.0
Miriam smiles and nods. She helps Dante down from her lap and stands.

We'll be back Dante. We're goig to go take a dip. Dante simply nods and keeps playing.

Miriam leads Lucky up to her room, where she changes in to a black bikini, letting Lucky pick something out for her self (assuming she didn't bring her own suit).
Lady Door
(Lucky always brings her own suit...)

Following Miriam outside, Lucky is clad in her own dark blue sateen bikini. She smiles at the sight of the pool.
Now... this... this I could definitely do all day.
fistandantilus4.0
Miriam swims out in to the warm water, going under for 15 feet before surfacing. she waives for Lucky to join her.

The water's delicious today. Come in.
Lady Door
Lucky dives in and joins Miriam in the deeper end. She comes up and takes a deep breath and slicks her hair back, revealing her oft hidden elven ears. She smiles at Miriam and treads in place.
It feels good to relax. I don't do it often.
fistandantilus4.0
There will be plenty more later. Relax while you can , enjoy the good life. if you neveer enjoy it, then what's the point in having it? Miriam smiles and begins floating on her back.
fistandantilus4.0
The next two days are very surreal for Lucky. She moves around the Kozlowski manor and grounds, at least ,where she is allowed. Occassionally a one made man or another wil ltell he r a certain area is off limits. It doesn't take long to find for example that any excursions in to the basement and the west third floor are completely forbidden. Lucky gets the impression that the men guarding them don't even know what they're guarding. There are plenty of men throughout the house that are supposedly made men, but seem more like hired security in suits.

Miriam spends a lot of time with Dante getting to know him better. She also spends a lot of time feeling out Lucky's personality, or pushing her in to darkened rooms. The entire expereince leaves Lucky feeling dirty, although sure that her place as Captain is now assured.

Erik Weissler's funeral is held on the second day of Lucky's stay. It's a very somber affair, with an undercurrent of rage. None of the reprisals have begun yet. On Miriam's order, they've been held until Eriks is put in the ground, making his last days about him, and not the Posse. The funeral is beautiful, with almost 200 people in attendant. Lucky is given a seat at the front. Unsuprising in the Big Easy, it's raining on the day of the funeral. It fits the mood. Everyone knows that tomorrow, the war will begin. There will be a lot more men put in the ground, but in the end, no one doubts that the Voodoo Posse will be wiped out.

Lucky arrives home in the morning alone. Miriam has insisted the Dante remain at least one more day. If Lucky is going to war after all, she won't be able to properly protect him. She's been charged with hunting down the members of the Voodoo Posse so that Oz may wipe them out.

Lucky - In the Clink

Harvey leads Lucky back to the individual holding cells. Another female officer follwos her in for questioning. The small all-white cell has a small window out in to the hall at head level. Harvey removes the cuff. The officer is holding a white jumpsuit.

Strip.

Lady Door
It's at moments like these that Lucky feels oddly grateful for her other life as Lucky Starr. She undresses with no qualms or shame, folding her clothes neatly and placing them on the table.
Turning, she places her hands on her hips and smiles, looking at Harvey expectantly.
Well now that that's out of the way... what do you want me to do now... Lieutenant. Lucky draws the words out seductively, then licks her bottom lip.
fistandantilus4.0
Harvey rolls her eyes. Turn arond and face the wall. Hands on the wall, shoulder width apart and spread 'em.
Lady Door
Lucky does as she's told, casting a glance over her shoulder at Harvey.
Lieutentant Harvey... you little minx! Who knew prison could be this much fun?
fistandantilus4.0
Harvey snorts. I've heard it all before Santangelo. Save it for your cell mate Bertha. Officer Tenya.

The officer steps forward and quickly and efficently searches Lucky.

Clean

Harvey snorts as if she doubts that. Get dressed Santangelo. She tosses her the white jumpsuit.
Lady Door
Lucky raises an eyebrow as she dresses. Bertha? Really. Well, this should be fun. Tell me, Lt., how long do you think it will take before your commendation comes down from on high? ... course you didn't really do much.. it was mostly all the A.D.A, but I'm sure they'll give you the benefit of the doubt. I'd vouch for you. Lucky winks at the Lt. as she finishes dressing.
fistandantilus4.0
Harvey says nothing as Lucky dresses. They move her next in to procecssing where she is fingerprinted, and has her mugshot taken. Lucky of course takesthe time to fix her hair before the shot.

They move her through processing, taking care to check for lice, then submit her to an astral scan.

Roll Masking vs Astral Scan
Lady Door
Masking:
[ Spoiler ]
fistandantilus4.0
She's waived through the astral scan, and brought to her solitary holding cell.

You'll be here for a day or two, then moved to county until your day in court. Then it's off to federal. Enjoy your stay.

Harvey smiles as the officer closes the door.
Lady Door
Lucky raises an eyebrow and waves at Harvey through the bars.
I have a feeling that thrills in your life are few and far between... so I'll give you this one. Lucky winks. You're not bad looking, you know. You get bored... you know where to find me, kay sweetheart?
With that Lucky turns and takes a seat on the wooden bench running against the length of one wall. Lying back on it, she stares up at the ceiling... plotting.
The scan must not have turned up anything or I would be in a whole different kind of situation by now. Good. I'm going to be hurting soon... bliss, cigarettes... I knew I should have given them up when I had the chance. Shit. Time to see what they have available here.
fistandantilus4.0
Lucky is transferred to the county lock up the next day. By now her frustrations at the lack of life's basic necessities (bliss, booze, cigarettes, etc) has already made her nerves a bit raw.

Apparently the NOPS are not taking any chances. They laod her in to an armored vehicle inside the station, with a trio of escort cars. The whole ordeal seems a bit over the top, but apparently, they really want to hold on to their new prisoner. Usually a county transfer takes a bit longer as well. Better conty jail than the federal prison though. That comes after the trial.

At least no one is gawking at her any more.

Taken in to county, Lucky is again searched thoroughly, and put into a cell. Like the station, this cell is sliding bars, at least a step up from a white room with a window. On the plus side, being a high profile prisoner, she's kept seperate from the general population. Meaning some unobserved time where she can try to convince a guard to give her a "goddamn cigarette now!"
