Rayo dodges aside, feelign the slugs form one of the pistols slam in to his jacket, bruising and crackng body parts that shouldn't be bruised or cracked. he sees his rounds tear apart the elf, then slips form the wet ground and bullet hits. He hits the ground hard.

The man flies back as Ray ounloads in to him. he hits the ground i na spray of blood, not moving.

Rayo keeps breathing really heavily, turning around to see if there's someone else who wants piece of this though dwarf. It seems that there's no more bullets firing, so Rayo takes a long sigh and listens the sirens coming up from the distance.

Rayo quickly checks the bodies for any identity or if any of them are alive. Most likely they're on their commlinks, but there's no time for that. Rayo thinks of moving the bodies farther away from boat, but ther's no time for that either. Rayo runs back to the car, takes his best effort lifting the package to the trunk, throwing his FN HAR with him and driving away as casually as possible with the autopilot. Rayo takes of his jacket and starts looking for a medkit.
Drek, drek, drek.. why here, why now. Somebody must have seen me coming out from that boat and somebody really must have seen me getting in to this car. Need to find a new wheels.
As Rayo finds his medkit, he spots the car three others might have drived, takes his car next to it. Somehow they had left the car running.
Great.. somebody up there still likes me.
Rayo pops the trunk and start moving the package and his other stuff to their car. After that he puts the autopilot of his rental car, to drive back to rental place and takes the other car a bit farther away from the docks where he patching up his wounded left arm.

The car drives wile Rayo takes the time to bleed all over the nice upholstery. He's not a block away when he sees a roto-drone buzz over to the dock area. A few more blocks and a patrol car zips by. A few more kilometers, and a second patrol car, followed by an ambulance go by. At least no one is after him.

First Aid check: Logic 3 + First Aid, Combat Wounds Specialization 3 + Medkit Rating 6 - Wound modifiers 2 - Applying remotely through Medkit 2 - Conditions 1 - From Essence lost 2 = 5 dices : 6, 6, 6, 4, 1 = 3 successes. Lowering Physical Damage From 5P to 4P (The maximum damage healable with the First Aid skill is equal to the skill's rating, which was 1).

Rayo lets his medkit to run diagnosis and pump drugs to his veins, while he keeps eye on surroundings. He tries to get to the next town, stop there to check if the package is alright after a bit hard treatment. He also wants to check the car in case of bugs and if he finds any info on the guys who were shooting him. Also a bit of sleep would be nice, but it can wait for a bit closer to Milwaukee.

Going over the car, Rayo finds the usual assortment of spent wrappers and bits of change, crap in the glove box ,etc. The car does have a bit of concealed armor, and teh system shows a custom engine to compensate for the work. Who ever's ride it was knew what they were doing with it. The Registration shows the car registered to a "Michael Darring" and pictures the ork that was shot in the back of the head, meaning the guy had a SIN, or a thorough fake ID.

There's a sawed off shotgun in the back seat, and spare predator under the driver's seat. There's also a tarp in the trunk, a couple of medkits, and some rope.
The gas tank is full, which is good, because Rayo has a long drive, and doesn't know the correct ignition code for the vehicle. Refueling could potentially be an issue. But the tank should be enough to get him to Milwaukee.

Michael Darring. Need to keep the name on memory.
Rayo also takes a picture of him in the eye memory. Rayo drives 90 miles to Rockford via Interstates 88 and 39, leaves the car running on supermarket parking lot and taking his 3 hours of sleep. Before that he checks again the condition of the package.
It's now only 80 miles to Milwaukee. I call Rob in the morning and ask him about where to deliver package. I might also call to Danny. I need to hear somebody familiars voice..
Danny was Rayo's human brother who lived in New York with his family. It was over 700 miles from Milwaukee to New York, so visiting them wasn't now an option. But just talking with him would be nice and making him forget what happened earlier just a little while.

Rayo catches some inadvertant shut on on the way to Rockford. Thank God for a competent auto pilot. Chrysler had been using some cut rate ones for a couple of years. Good thing they went wit ha new model. The nap in the parking lot seems to help to. With only a 3 hour drive from Davenport to Milwaukee and a stay over at the Kong-Wal-Mart, Rayo is pulling in to Milwaukee in the early morning. The city has it's share of morning smog, but most of it is taken away by the crisp winds off the Great Lakes. At least it's summer. This palce would be freezing in the winter.

Rayo decides to take his change and call Rob this early in the morning. He seemed to be the guys who never sleep, unless you happen to call him at any time of the day.

He changed the plans in the middle of the things and I didn't like it. My other route wasn't flawless either, but I managed up here non the less. It's cool, chill. We made plans with Tito, that he would set me the boat berth and he would deliver the car there. When I called near St.Louis he wanted me to find my own boat berth, then get to some freaking parking garage where there would be a car with ork waiting for me there. I really can't be that long away from guarding the package in unknown place, you know? That whole plan stinked from miles away. I decided to take changes in my own hands, that's what my job is all about, you know, and take a detour to Davenport, north to St. Louis. Somehow there were three people waiting me in there too, one of them ork named Michael Darring, also elf and human. They just started blaizing with their guns, no negotiation or anything. I got shot, but I can manage. Now there's three dead people in front of my boat, Lone Star everywhere and I'm in a stolen car with a freaking corpse in the back! Now please, let me just deliver this thing away, I got already enough trouble of ever getting back in CAS.. sir.

Rayo start calmly, getting upset in the middle, nearly being desperately furious, but manages to calm down in the end.

Yes, I call it corpse. It has stink that way since you gave it to me. If Lone Star would pull me over they would first think of it as corpse and check it later when I'm dead. But I have done everything you asked me to do for it, giving water and all. It seems to be fine.

Running the scan on the commlink, there doesn't seem to be anything more than the average Spam-inflicted spyware. Nothing sinister or out of the usual certainly.

Rayo stops at the near by gas station and checks his tail lights, just in case.
I don't want to get pulled over just because of broken tail light. That would be an embarrassing moment.. or maybe I have just seen too many B-grade trids.
Then he sets the course to Warehouse number 15, warehouse district, Madison, Milwaukee, Wisconsin and keeps eating pain killers.
I call Danny later. Don't want to make him worried..

Half an hour later, Rayo pulls up to the warehouses. There's a long line of them jsut a block from the waterfront, the first bank of warehouses from the piers. The area here is all broken cement with grassgrowing through the cracks. The wild temperatures in this region are very hard on construction. The warehouses are a combination of stuccod cinder blocks and corrugated steel buildings, depending on whether or not they're manned by drones. The temperatures here can drop below freezing in the wnter months, and drones have little need for heat retention.

Most of the warehouses are blcoked off by individiual electrified chain link fences, and patrolles by a pair of sentry drones. Looting warehouses for fresh cargo brought across the lakes s a lot easier than taking it off a boat, so they had to adopt some sort of security.

Number 15 's gate is open. There's a trio of cars out front, as well as a large SUV, and a step van. Waiting out frontof the warehouses large tracked door is a dwarf . He's wearing an armored longcoat, slacks and a shirt . His hair is well manicured, and thankfully he's beardless. That sterotype gets annoying. The requisite sunglasses are firmly in place, as in the combat shotgun in hand. He waves your car over his way. As the car rolls up, the t racked door slides open, giving you space to drive the car inside, where a grop of similarly dressed and armed men wait.

These fellows are serious.. dead serious. Better watch my every move.
Rayo carefully opens the door, keeping the hands were they can see them, and slides out of the car.
Yo guys. Your package is in the trunk. Let me open it up..
Rayo reaches inside, slowly, and pops up the trunk. Rayo takes a quick glance around the building and people inside, but doesn't record anything or anybody, as Rob suggested. He tries to look as though and cool as he can with these guys, which is hard, as he doesn't even have sunglases.

The men simply watch for the moment. There are eight of them inside the warehouse. They are all wearing expensive clothing, most or all of it armored. They have the look of hard men that are doing well for them selves.

A dwarf with a small SMG stands near Rayo as he opens the trunk. He levels the gun at him as he opens the trunk. A tall troll in a three piece suit walks up as Rayo opens the trunk, looking inside.

The troll is wearing a large gray over coat with a white scarf, and a matching fedora hat. His hair is combed and greased. He seems to be the one in charge.

I trust that you did not open this up, except to administer the the IVs?

He motions Rayo aside as he beings unwrapping the "package." The dwarf with the SMG leads Rayo along side his car, out of view of the trunk. The troll looks over the man inside for a moment. His face is impassive, as if he's examining what's inside.

He waves over a human man who produces a medkit. The man opens it up, pulling out what looks likea stim patch, and leans in to the trunk. They stand there for a moment, as if waiting. The dwarf is still watching Rayo.

After almost a minute, Rayo hears a groan out of the trunk. There's a few more groans, then Rayo sees the troll smile. He grins broadly as the groaning stops. Rayo thinks he hears the word "drek" from the trunk.

The troll leans down a bit. Hello danny. Welcome back. His smile dissapears and his fist comes back, then plows in to the trunk. He slams the person in the trunk again and again. It goes on for almost a minute. Finally, the troll stands back up. The man with the medkit hands him a wash rag and some handy wipes. The troll straightens his hair, and walks over to Rayo, still wiping his hands. Rayo can hear more pained groaning from the back.

Rayo, right? Your work here is done. I'll pass back word to Rob, let him know you do good work. The last car out's for you. The ignition key'll be in it. You have a nice trip back. Ave, give 'em a grand.

The troll walks past Rayo, still fixing his hair. The bloody wipes are on the ground. The dwarf with the SMG lets it slide to the side. He reaches in to his pocket, and walks up to Rayo. He slides a wad of cash into Rayo's pocket. Gas money. he says, with a smile that doesn't reach his eyes.

The track door opens again, just wide enough for Rayo to walk out. The dwarf steps aside.

He groans silently as the pain comes back to his left arm and he quickly changes to his right one. On top of it there's lying his FN HAR. He craps the bag from the handles, assault rifle hanging from between them, pointing forward. He slams the door close, start walking outside at his new ride. He tries not to look behind him to what the guy in the trunk looks like.
Nice doing business with ya.. he says to other dwarf as passes him, looking him directly into his eyes behind the shades with his ice cold blue cybereyes, without a hint of smile.

The troll looks back over his shoulder. It'll be hot within a few days. But you've got until then to do whatever you like with it. Enjoy.

Oh, and feel free to scratch the paint of you like. It came from someone that won't be missing it.

The dwarf escorts Rayo out, all the way to the car, watches him climb in, and drive out.

Rayo tosses his stuff on the back seat, gets behind the wheel, starts the car and drives off.
Danny. I really need to call to Danny. No, no.. what could be the possibilites, that my Danny would be that Danny. Danny is so common name, even nickname of Daniel or Dan-somethingelse. No, no, it can't be. Must call him.. must find payphone. Can't use my commlink. Oh gods..
Rayo finds the nearest bus or train station, uses his credstick and calls to Danny.

Rayo takes up a 3D-picture from his memory spinning in AR, which shows him and Danny as a kids on their mother's and father's lap in front of some italian restaurant, probably owned by local mob. On the other side is Danny, his wife and their daughter, maybe 2 or 3 years old in that picture. Rayo turns around the picture with a wistful look.

She's good. Mostly biz as usual. Sounds like you're keeping awfully busy. Why are you still tooling around in the deep south? You know they'v'e got mosquitos there the size of my hand. And all that voodoo crap...

He looks a mixture of concern and annoyance. Same old arguement.

Rayo listens to a moment of phone beeping and then puts the phone back hanging. He had lived his whole life as an orphan and only couple of years ago found out that he had a brother and a whole family back in New York. The change had been dramatic and sudden, but still the idea of him not being alone in this planet was a bit absurd to Rayo. Still, if Danny hadn't picked up the phone and after a lot of legwork Rayo would have found out that the man he had delivered all the way from New Orleans would have been his own brother, Rayo could see in his eyes a scene where he kicks the giant warehouse door down, black glasses shading his eyes, big cigar on his mouth and carrying a troll size minigun and firing a automatic fire untill everybody inside was dead, except Danny who's chained to a chair. Then Rayo would turn to the camera, take the cigar from his lips and say with an middle European accent "Now I have nailed your punny ass."
Wait? No.. that was from Terminator VII - Here They Come Once Again. Anyways, I would have looked like an ass in those tight leather pants..
Rayo gives himself a dry smile and heads back to his car, buying today's paper to his commlink on the way. Before he starts driving back to Davenport and to his boat, he needs to find a doctor. It wouldn't be nice if he waited all the way to NO and Dr. Tell to be heard that "Sorry Rayo, it's too badly infected, we need to amputate it". Well, half of it would already be cybered anyways. Just need to hope, that cybered part wasn't hit, repairing that would make a new hole to his wallet. But he really wasn't going back to those guys asking the nearest doctor. Maybe Rob would again know somebody, who would know somebody else, who would know one good local black clinic. Or at least they could shoot him and end this horrible pain.
Rayo dials Rob's number.

Rob picks up on the second ring. Apparently he's been waiting.

While waiting Rayo puts his autopilot on and changes the bandage on his wound. Rayo just lets the car drive straight to south.

The commlink beeps with an address sent via text from Rob, and a handy link for the autopilot. The message says that the street doc, "Cooper" will be expecting you.

Rayo clicks the link and let's the car drive while him seeing the sights. He also sends Benny a message.
Benny, Rob's job is done. Let me know where to pick your electronics. Also give me any info of them you can, do I need to buy something to cover them or do you already have that covered?

Just standard stuff. It'll be a night pick up. I got a guy that works at an electronics store. Roadtrain drops a trailer there at night. He unloads it. He owes me big , so a few extra things are going to go missing. Everything should fit in a car. Just bring it back down this way and don't get caugt with it. soka?

Wonderful. It isn't all high end stuff, but there's a lot of commlinks in there, some great stereo equipment, that sort of thing. If you can get more space and bring more along, that'd be even better. Don't worry about Louis. The little drekker deserves what ever trouble he gets in to. If you can move it, you can take the whole damn trailer as far as I'm concerned. Hell, I'd even cut you a percentage. A nice sized one at that.
