Lady Door
Hal watches Daylin leave and then turns back to the control panel. Well, let's see what we can do about docking this baby. Hal switches the system to manual before carefully maneuvering it into position.
Okay, so now... I'm wishing I would have paid attention more to this in class. Heh. Biting her bottom lip, Hal docks the Hawk against the larger ship.

Piloting Roll
[ Spoiler ]
ludomastro
Hal glides the Hawk into place alongside the old capital ship and then ever so gently, moves into position at the docking ring.

The old manual controls require a little work but are a testament to the designers. The ship makes a connection and you are able to set up an atmosphere on the other side of the air lock.
fistandantilus4.0
Out in the blackness of space, Daylin, tied off to the Hawk, floats over to the manual door controls.

Haven't done a space walk since I was 40. Hope I don't bounce of finto nothing.

Taking his time, he opens the panel and works the maual lever for the airlock hatch, opening it for the Hawk to dock with, then keys the comm.

All is set Captain. 2 meters to go.
Lady Door
Hal closes the remaining distance and then locks the ship into place, listening for the pressurized hiss of air that tells her the airlock is functional.
Over the comms system, Hal calls to the other passengers.
Okay all, we're locked and set to check out this old bird. Kolbacca, you and your translator droid will be stationed here in case anything goes wrong with the Hawk. Rand, Daylin, Oolan and I will head over to the ship to see what we can salvage. Everyone, stay alert. There's really no telling what we could find.
... please no bodies, please no bodies, please...
NerfHerder
By the Mist, this suit is constricting, of course, I am a little bulkier than the Humans it was meant for.

Struggling slightly with his space suit O'olan once again checks over his equipment to make sure all is within easy reach.

Heavy blaster, check. Smoke grenades, check. Mist deployer, check. Extra power packs, check. Oxygen to the suit turned off in case any of the others needs it. Looks like I'm ready to go.

Slipping into a brief Findsman trance O'olan relaxes and lets his inner mist coalesce, opening his mind to the external tendrils of mist that can sometimes tell him when those unseen are near.

[ Spoiler ]

If anything untoward happens out here I'm probably the only one with much combat experience. So the defence of this group will likely fall to me. Although the old man does move with a certain grace. An aged one, but there none the less. Hope the kid can keep his head if the poodo hits the refresher, I know I barely did my first scrap.

Gand will take point If it pleases the Captain.
Ophis
Rand nods to himself and leaves the turret to help Daylin. Once the suits are checked he readies himself, and suppressing any nerves about being in space with only a suit to protect him follows the others out.

On hearing the Gand's statement Rand nods and says,Sounds good, I'll take the rear then.
ludomastro
The four of you make it over to the dark capital ship. The docking bay is clean, in fact devoid of anything interesting. Your suits indicate that the atmosphere is too low in oxygen for humans to breathe.

Daylin enters through the Hawk and heads over with everyone else, trying desperately to remember the ship's layout. He looks around in the derelict's cargo hold for any sort of map, or at least any corridors that lead in the direction of the engineering bay.

We should all stay within sight. I didn't notice any blast damage, so it probably wasn't combat that crippled her. Could be an internal problem. Wouldn't be good to fall through a deck or something and have no one know.

Any orders Captain?
NerfHerder
Daylin is correct, keep visual contact with at least one other person at all times. We should do a comm check every 15 minutes to be sure they are operational at all times as well. Any idea as to which way we should proceed?

Results for Mechanical Rolls

[ Spoiler ]
Lady Door
Hal nods to both Daylin and Oolan. We're doing this together. No splitting up, no exploring ahead. Stay within 10 paces of each other and stay alert. I suggest we start with the areas where the probability of finding survivors would be higher. Escape Pods, Living quarters, etc. I know that the chances of finding someone are slim, but we maybe able to get a better idea of what happened. Daylin, Rand? Any suggestions?

I think our search will be much easier if we can do something for oxygen and power. Our search will be much harder if we have to go around sealed blast doors. Besides, if anyone is alive on here, I don't think a few more minutes will matter much.

Taking a moment to center him self again, Daylin reaches out with his sense, trying to feel for life on the derelict.

One round to prep + Emptiness Rolling for Concentration then Life Sense

[ Spoiler ]
NerfHerder
Gand brought extra power packs if we are not able to get power up and running, they should allow us to bypass blast doors if we can find their access panels. If anyone starts to need oxygen they are welcome to the supply in my suit. My technical abiities are not up to your levels so Gand will keep an eye on our surroundings.

Walking past Daylin O'olan mutters, almost under his breath Been in hiding long have we? We must speak later.

Stopping in the middle of the bay O'olan starts to walk slow easy circles fine tuning his senses to the feel of this new ship, noting the positioning of entry ways and any cat walks that may be abobe the group.
Lady Door
In her excitement at the prospect of exploring the old derelict ship, the concerns of oxygen and proper gear seem to pass over Hal's head. All she has eyes for now is the darkened hulk of metal shifting slowly outside her window. A dozen possibilities play out in her imagination... each one ending with her finally able to send some money home to her family and to have some kind of recognition outside of the 'Hawk.
Turning around, she goes to speak to Daylin. He always seemed to know what to say to calm her down, to keep her centered. But, instead she sees Daylin standing with his eyes closed as if in trance, then he's approached by the Gand. The Gand says something and Daylin starts before moving away quickly.
Unsure of what to make of that strange scene, Hal makes her way to the equipment room to suit up.
Have to ask D about that later. The last thing we need is for some bounty hunter to start asking questions.
fistandantilus4.0
Stunned, and figthened by the Gand's words, Daylin wuiccly dons his helmet to hide any emotion on his face. It takes a moment to come back to the calm he felt before, to return to the Emptiness.

We'll ... we should get to the spare oxygen tanks in the docking bay first. We won't want to release too much right away. We'll have to check hull integrity. The Hawk's sensors didn't show any hull damage, but this ship's computer will be better at checking for damage. We should get power up first.

Daylin almost asks the Gand to proceed, but instead lamely gestures with ihs arm.

What does this hunter know? Or think he knows? Must not leap to conclusions, but I cannot believe I'm walking into such a potentially dangerous situation with such a potentially dangerous being!

There's something here. Perhaps a left over spirit. A malignant will that wouldn't go quietly into the next existance. Not good.

Giving directions from what he can recall, and any signs on the ship, Daylin trails the gand to the engineering bay.
NerfHerder
O'olan walks the corridors of this long dead ship as wary as he has ever been.

This place gives Gand the creeps.

Staying a ways ahead of Daylin O'olan looks the corridor over using the Gand's natural ability to see the ultraviolet spectrum, checking for blood traces or anything else that may give a clue to the fate of this ships occupants.

fistandantilus4.0
There's no life left here. But there is something. So trace left. Can't you feel it?

He says it to no one in particular, but sill hopes someone answers. If only to let him know he's not going crazy. That it's not just the dark taint on his soul that he feels.
ludomastro
The group continues their trek through the abandoned and lifeless ship. Here and there along the way, a droid is frozen in place due to lack of power. At an R2 recharging station, there are several R2 units clustered around a droid that never received its share of power. The ship looks as if it continued to operate without any crew for some time. When the group finally reaches engineering they are greeted by a sealed blast door - the first they have seen.

Something is smeared on the blast door. I have seen faint traces of it on the walls as well. It could be blood, but it is too old to be sure. Gand suggests we be very cautious, Daylin says there is nothing alive and Gand believes him Bows shortly to Daylin but something in here makes Gand feel wrong just the same.
Ophis
Rand keeps his eyes on the surroundings as the others work.

What happened hear? Shouldn't there at least be some bones, some sort of remains of the crew.
fistandantilus4.0
Let's concentrate on one thing at a time. Power first. It will make any search we do much easier. We'll try to keep the main engines off line for now. Just get power to the rest of the ship.

Daylin continues on cautious, but hurrying. Lurking things don't atack right away. They wait for you to get comfortable. Let your guard down. Might as well do waht he ycan in the time they had.

O'olan
[ Spoiler ]
Lady Door
Hal's eyes widen at O'olan's words and then even more at Rands'. Her voice is strangely high pitched, verging on tremulous.
There doesn't have to be bodies! Or bones! Why do you have to be like that? You don't have to say that! Besides, it's probably not blood... it's probably like oil... or grease. I mean, probably had mechanical problems right? Had a bunch of oily men running back and forth into the main cabin, right? Splashing oil everywhere. Makes perfect sense.
Her eyes go from O'olan to Rand and then to Daylin. She looks longer at Daylin, almost as if she's trying to catch hold of her sanity in his steady gaze.
Ohhh... I can't do this. Help me, D. Help me.
fistandantilus4.0
Daylin looks back over his shoulder at Hal. He hesitates for a moment, then nods.

Could be oil.

He looks forward again as he moves on slowly, watching the gand.

How could I forget she's not made for this? Probably never seen a body body before, much less dozens. She wasn't in the Clone Wars. Wasn't in the Rebellion. This is all new to her. Take it slow.

That Rand kid better hold together. I can't keep them both from falling apart.

...Something about that Gand too.... this isn't the time to test it though...
NerfHerder
As we get closer to the door the more Gand is convinced it is blood on the blast door. It is covered at the bottom and smeared as it goes up. Something happened here that someone did not survive. We may find those remains you were asking about Rand. You may want to turn away Captain, until we determine the way is clear. Hit the deck if you hear blaster fire.

We will be hard pressed to come out of this alive if we have two people freaking out on us. At least Daylin is old enough to have seen a little action in his life, if the way he moves is any indication.

O'olan unholsters his heavy blaster, pointing it at the blast door, waiting for someone to pop the door.
Lady Door
For a long time, Hal simply stares at the Gand. Her face is expressionless and pale. Finally, she speaks,
I. Don't. Like. You.
Without another word she turns back to the blaster door and stares at the 'oil' stains.
ludomastro
Daylin finds the controls and opens the access panel. The controls allow the door to open without problems. The smell of old, stale death rolls out of the engineering bay. The lights are out so the bay is dark. The little light spilling over from the suits and handheld lights shows the entryway and the back of one of the consoles.
NerfHerder
[ Spoiler ]

O'olan slowly steps in the blast door, looking all around, left, right, up, and at the floor as he goes. He steps to the right of the control panel to get a better view of the room.
fistandantilus4.0
Daylin follows, signaling Hal to hold back. His blaster pistol is drawn, althouhg he's not expecting to have to use it here. He does a sweep wth his flashlight in his other hand to get a look at the surroundings, looking for anything he can use to get power restored.
Lady Door
Hal chokes back a gag at the sudden stench. Pulling her own blaster pistol from her belt... Great, Hal. Just great. They're dead... what are you going to do? Make them more dead?! she eases into the doorway.
Taking a look around, she waits for Daylin and O'olan to move further into the room.
What are you doing?! YOU'RE THE CAPTAIN!! Get over yourself and get your butt in there!!
Hal takes a deep breath to steady herself and moves into the room, following the beam of Daylin's flashlight.
ludomastro
As Daylin and O'olan move around the room, they discover the source of the decay. There are three bodies, skeletons truly, in a position that suggests they were hiding behind the console when they died. The consoles otherwise appear to be in working order.

O'olan
[ Spoiler ]
fistandantilus4.0
Daylin holsters his balster, confident that O'olan will watch his back. He moves to the console to bring up the controls, and see if he can get he power brought up.

Maybe the action will keep Hal's mind off the bodies. Told the girl to stay there.

He carefully but clamly moves aside any bodies in the way. He takes a moment to reach out with his senses for anything else there.

Sense Force 1D6+6 +1D6 for taking an extra round

Lady Door
Hal moves up behind Daylin, eyeing the console. Do you think we'll be able to get pow... Ohhh... Hal's voice trails off as she notices Daylin's foot nudging a body further under the console.
A body. There's a body under the console, D. Why is there a body under the console? Hal's voice goes flat. Emotionless. She stares at the slightly protruding leg bone of the skeleton.
fistandantilus4.0
Because that's where he died Hal.

He knows he sounds harsh, but it's hard to keep calm enough to multitask, much less keep his emotions under wraps enough to calll on the Force.

Don't worry. he's 300 years beyond caring. He belongs to the Force now.
Lady Door
Hal looks up at Daylin, the first flicker of emotion on her face.
The Force? Seriously? You're going with the Force as a way to make me feel better? She rolls her eyes.
Okay... so bodies... right. She takes a deep breath. Can we tell how they died? I mean, I don't think we should be touching ANYTHING until we know that something we do here isn't going to kill us.
fistandantilus4.0
Annoyance doesn't so much 'creep' into his voice as walk boldly in.

Alright then, Captain, why don't you check the bodies while I work on getting the power up?
NerfHerder
They are beyond helping now, but their positioning may tell us much about what happened here so many years ago. Try not to move them any more than you have to, Gand would like to investigate further when we have power, until then Gand will guard while you get the console opperational.

Ophis
Great move chucklehead, you're upsetting Hal.

As the others enter the room Rand glances briefly inside then positions himself halfway into the door squatting down, his heavy blaster pistol out, shifting steadily with his view as he scans the corridor. His body language suggests a readiness to move, this seems a familiar thing to him,
Unarmed
Kolbacca wanders around the empty corridors of the ship, and eventually arrives at the bridge. She slumps into one of the chairs there, and takes a bite of old republic rations that she'd grabbed from the 'mess hall' earlier. The droid follows at her heels all the way.

Grrowr... arrahrah... Gnnnah.

Madam, I do not know why they never make wookie-sized space suits.

Rrrrarr! Grrr... Arrrowr.

Well, I'm not happy to be stuck in here with you, either!

Grr! Arrrahgrr! Nnnayh!

The droid leaves the bridge, disheartened. It mutters at a low volume. Of all the beings that could have purchased me, I get stuck with the most foul-mouthed wookie in the galaxy...

Kolbacca fiddles with the comms a bit, to see if she can hear what's going on over on the derelict spacecraft.
ludomastro
Kolbacca is able to tune in to the chatter between the suits without much difficulty. Seven continues muttering until it reaches a convenient spot to recharge. With a great deal of sarcasm, for a droid anyway, it says, Master, unless you need me, I will be 'sleeping'.

Daylin is able to figure out the controls. The engineering for these type of controls has not changed much in 300 years. Just as easily as he has done in the past, he is able to bring the internal sensors on-line and bring up emergency power. The main power is showing a fault at a near-by junction. The bridge and other command areas in the forward portion of the ship are still without power. The board does not indicate why.

[ Spoiler ]
fistandantilus4.0
Daylin works at restoring life support and identifying the fault so he can see what the issue is specifically.
ludomastro
The sensors indicate there are several micro-breaches in the outer hull. The bulkhead is holding and the computer indicates that the blast doors can be sealed against vacuum in most locations. In the few places that they can't, the standard doors will provide about a 99% effective air seal. Computer indicates life support can be safely restored; however, it includes a suggestion to close of the offending decks manually. There are repair kits available in the lockers.

There is no information about the junction malfunction. The computer provides a schematic of the location.
fistandantilus4.0
Daylin brings up a holo display of the sites, and downloads it to his datapad, while pointing out the doors that they need to close.

We should check out that junction while we're here. I'm restarting the life support in just a second. I'll leave the extra oxygen for now, just in case we need it. First though I want to see why the power is off in the first place.

Daylin checks the engineering logs to see if the power went off automatically as a safety precaution, if it was switched off, or if it was something else entirely.
ludomastro
The Engineering logs are jumbled; however, there is a holo entry that appears to still be intact. It shows a haggard looking human male, mid 30s, with more dirt and grit than an engineer should have. His image tells the following story.

May the Force be with us.... I don't know how much longer we can hold out. Our food is gone and the water is going. Rachus, says he can hear the damned thing talking to him. I don't know if I can trust him anymore. Oh, may the Force have mercy, why did I sign up for this haul. I could have had a vacation on Coruscant.

The transmission is interrupted by a rather crazed looking fellow screaming, We must bow to the will of the One!

There is a struggle and several out of focus people from off the screen jump the individual and beat him down. The recording ends.
Lady Door
Hal's face falls slightly at Daylin's tone. She opens her mouth to say something but then shuts it quickly and kneels down to inspect the bodies. Finding no apparent physical damage, Hal struggles back to her feet.
There's no... um, physical damage... to the...bodies. Not that I can see anyway. So, not a blaster battle. Possibly... She looks around at the darkened control room and then sighs. But, then what do I know? There wasn't a class in this at the Academy... or maybe there was. Hell, if there was I missed it.

Hal's attention is diverted by the sudden appearance of the hologram. Watching it is gut-wrenching and for a moment the need to wretch is back with a force. Holding onto D's arm she waits for a moment before finally steadying herself.
What in the... what would make someone do that? A hallucinogen pumped into the air supply maybe? Some kind of toxin? Cabin fever?
NerfHerder
The will of the One? That doesn't seem to make any sense.

You bring up a good point Captain. Daylin, run a diagnostic on the contents of the life support system before starting it if you can.

If these people were beat to death that could explain the blood splatter, but why would there be more outside the blast doors than in? At least Rand looks to be holding up fairly well. Thats one less thing I have to worry about, although that could change any time...

Gand would like to take a look at the bodies, Rand will you keep an eye out for a moment?

O'olan moves over to the bodies and takes note of their positions, what way they are facing and, leaning over further, examines the bones themselves, looking for tiny hairline fractures or outright cracks that may give any idea as to the cause of death, he also checks the surrounding area for any clothing scraps or remains of tools they may have been carrying.
fistandantilus4.0
Daylin nods and runs the diagnostic before switching the system on.

If there's something dangerous still here, I'm quickly rethinking the notion that salvaging this should could be a 'good idea'. Good thing Kolbacca is still aboard the Hawk. Something did this and I suspect that something is still here.Spores maybe?

Spacers get cabin fever, but they usually know what to watch for. A big freighter like this makes stops, so it's unliekly anyway. I'm checking the system, especially for any kind of spores. We should keep in mind Captain that whatever caused this may still be on board. it might not be anything sentient but it could still be dangerous. Let's not get to attached to this wreck.

If this thing has ben floating out here for three centuries, there's also the very real possibility that we're not the first to find it. Others may have as well and fallen victim to whatever killed the original crew. Maybe not. But take some time to pay attention to the clothing and equipment on any of the bodies.
