Anyone with a name like that is about to trigger all system security, so it's best to log out as soon as possible.

We have two NPC deckers that everyone in the party reveres: Slimline and Darkwire. Don't know how they sound outside the box, but everyone within gives their just props.

Had one campaign wherein one of the legends of the local decking community went by the fear-inspiring handle...... Fudge.
Led to one amusing bit with the PC decker, on the wrong end of a Black Hammer, screaming, "I refuse to be killed by a confection!"

Coming in late to the party: my Saturday group has a big-shot decker as a contact, name of Big Jim. His icon is that of a grizzled prospector, and (though the team doesn't know it) he's got a Mage friend by the name of Little Tramp and a streetsam who goes by Black Larsen. Points to anyone who gets the reference.

Our group almost exclusively contracts out to an NPC decker that calls himself Wasteland. Funny thing is, he's not even that good, the team is just so un-computer savvy he seems awesome to them.
They tried to get him to do some decking on a system he wasn't good enough for and he told them something like "That thing's too hot for me.", and the team was like, "well screw it then if Wasteland can't handle it".

He wore a kilt, drove a corvette, acted like an a-hole, and the rest of the running team hated him.

We have a number of deckers/otaku in our group, thanks to people running multiple characters and a lot of thigns being done PbP. Some of the more interesting ones...
The Maniac Family - a group of kids who basically set out to confuse and annoy everyone they meet. Members all follow a set of bizarre rules, including specific ideas about names: always three letters long, middle letter always "E". The four current members are...
Zem The Maniac - combat decker who does melee. Generally considered the leader of the group. Known for making cryptic statements, insulting everyone around him, and making up words at a whim.
Ler the Maniac - decker and sorcerer. Something of a pyro, and prone to screaming about bloodthirsty demonic chainsaws or smiley faces eating him. Known for frequently quoting the "Evil Dead" trilogy and leaving to get a soda in the middle of life-threatening situations.
Rei the Maniac - otaku. The best of the group as far as Matrix abilities are concerned, but also the youngest, and very easy to distract.
Mel the Maniac - pure decker, as far as we know. Nobody's really sure what she does, but she's known for strange speech patterns. Sentence inversions, speaking backwards, newspeak, speaking in haiku...
Aside from them, we have Dot. Dot is probably the best decker we have, but nobody likes to admit that. He's a complete spaz who eats almost nothing but candy, tends to be paranoid, and has a strange fear/hatred of cats. Once turned down pay for a run, instead taking a box of Fruit Pebbles, several bags of candy, and two porn magazines. Despite all this, his computer and tech skills are unmatched out of all our characters, and he has the best tech cyberware as well.
Also, his player is the only one of us to know and understand ALL of the Matrix rules.

Heh, my NPC Decker creation is Bun-Bun in the digital world...the sadistic bunny with a switchblade. He's actually quite good - braved the Arcology nets at the beginning of the Shutdown and got out with a basic floorplan without getting blasted into electrons...
His real name is Riffington.

And yes, he has emergency pants.

I thought all of the references to angels in shutdown was pretty cool.
if there was a decking group with demon names like baal beezubub, etc ... that would be intimidating, especially if you run into one after another.
a name like "luvs resonance" would make me laugh but be wary.

Anyone badass enough to have the icon of a mini-lop and still command respect is best avoided. (The real bun-bun is likely some sort of insanely powerful free spirit, with Adept powers and some very high attributes.)
To those who have not heard of him, Bun-Bun is a character in the excellent webcomic known as Sluggy Freelance. You can find it at sluggy.com.

I would argue that the comic was stronger for the first 3 years than now, but it still has its strong points.

Bun-bun makes several appearances in sci-fi/fantasy novels written by John Ringo as well. A really nasty tank has bun-bun as a nickname (and a character that just screams "I'm Riff") appear in several of his Posleen books (
When the Devil Dances and
Hell's Faire IIRC). Ringo also has an AI entity named Bun-Bun (complete with attitude) show up several times in his Council Wars series (
There Will Be Dragons,
Emerald Sea and
Against the Tide). Apparently Ringo is a bit of a fan...
