Reading the Canadian/Uruguayan blogger's comments about us "rabid fanboys" on Dumpshock got me thinking. A poll was the most socially acceptable response I came up with.
well as I'm the second person to vote on it, and 'venue to discuss' is still 100%....

Define "rabid" and "fanboy"? If we're just talking in terms of time and attention dedicated, I need to go wipe some of this foam off of my mouth. If we're talking FanPro can do no wrong or SR3 is utterly perfect or anyone who criticizes SR for any reason is an idiot, not so much.

I went with like and venue 'cause it is the truth. I don't own all the books, I don't follow all the news, but I do spend a lot of time on DSF talking about it.

Technically, a "fanboy" refers specifically to someone who is a fan of DC Comics to the exclusion of all other comic companies.
Example quote: "Batman is the best. He can single handedly beat anyone. Galactus won't stand a chance!"
Contrast with "Marvel Zombie."
More generically applied to anyone who is deeply committed and passionate about a "geek" or "nerd" passtime.
This is for the "What's a Fanboy???" responses, if any.

I don't think any fanboy or fangirl can qualify as rabbid untill he or she writes a slashfic and draws slash artwork.
Thankfully, I have not degenerated to that level yet.

I would like to dedicate my "nuckin futs" vote to Kagetenshi. I would also like to donate my month's earnings to having someone go over to Kagetenshi's house to "convince" him to never, EVER post again.

That isn't the kind of self-insertion I meant.
Big D (So that's where he got his nickname...) is a fairly well established character. He also isn't a complete godmoder. If he was he would have turned away the horrors with the power of his mighty dragon penis and sucessfully pushed through a Constitutional Amendment making him President for the rest of his natural life.
In order to reach the pinicle of bad fanficery one must study from the master. The rancid piece of literally used toilet paper that is Artemis's Lover.
On second though, don't study Artemis's Lover. It makes most of its readers blnd themselves so they don't have to read it again. But that doesn't work because they will always have those horrible memories and images in their heads.

Although that reminds me of my favorite piece of my SR fic. It was about Nadja Daviar just sitting in her kitchen in the middle of the night talking to someone about Dunk and life six months after the assassination. The someone happened to be, well, me. Or something like the 2057 version of me.

Since returning from a 6+ year hiatus, I have been desperately struggling to not become the Witch-Lord of Thread Necromancy. This effort has been mostly successful.
However, I have discovered that my best piece of SR fiction is not what I thought it was, and I must share the fruits of my inspiration with a new generation.

I still don't consider myself a fanboy. I probably should, given it's twenty fraggin' twenty one and I've officially been thinking about this game for thirty years now.

Three wives.
Three, no, four jobs.
Multiple trips to Peru looking for lost settlements. Found one!
Kids grown to adulthood, grandkids followed.
Six different communities in which I lived, way more houses.
One constant through it all? Shadowrun.
