it's just my thought. that is deck hand shouldn't have that much say if someone wants to see the captain. on a normal boat there isn't much of lvl's of authority, normal on one that pick up deck hands at every port to fill up spots, it's the captains word and then everyone else's. So i wouldn't have thought i would have go that much trouble from this guy, but i guess he's being the aka security man on the dock.

Precisely. OOC: Knowing they have their crew filled except that one slot, the captain puts a deckhand on the pier ramp to wait for the guy they're expecting. The captain is busy making sure they have all their cargo, the manifest completed properly, works with the navigation officer to ensure a course is plotted correctly ahead of time, is receiving weather reports ad ice drift reports, etc, etc. He certainly dosn't want to be bothered by just any dude, so he puts a deckhand out there to screen "visitors". Also, this has the (more important) benefit of preventing people from coming out and messing with the cargo they just unloaded, and acts as a measure against stowaways. This is south america after all.

true but if a guy says the captain is expecting him and asks to see him i would think that would be enough to get him to take him to the captain. the deck hand is taking his job alittle to seriously i think but some people do. and Koe is having to deal with one witch is fine.

if not Koe will ask how long till they depart and ask where the nearest kitchen supply store or market or what not store is and try and buy a cook bk and a good chef's knife or something so he can say he went to get the knife and try and sneak the bk on without anyone noticing it but if someone does notice it he will say " oh i just hear a lot of good things about this cook bk it has some really good recipes in it that i wanted to try out." if it comes up i'll roll etiquette. Koe has 3 unused karma to learn how to cook if he has the time, I'm sure the first meals he makes will be the basic's hehe with the excuse of "I'm still getting to know where everything is so be patent and i'll be making some better stuff soon."

Sorry, I am not good at describing scenes either. To clarify, the young guy is somewhat out of the way (to the side and a little behind the scarred man), to do so will open you up to an attack by the scarred man (meaning he will get in effect favorable ground against you). Normally I wouldn't mention this, and just let it roll out, but in this case I think it is my fault for not describing it accurately enough.
If you want to continue through, you can and I will describe the action for you. Here are the companion's rolls:

Qill, You make a special note to ask how often the Arctic Star ports in at Halley, and find out that there isn't really a set schedule. Usually, it will be irregular, depending on supply levels, time of year, if they have to make stops at multiple bases, etc... All in all, very irregular. Anywhere from twice a month to once in 3 months.
You'll need to roll perception/intelligence to search for the crevasse using the rods. If you have a different, more novel idea that finds it and finds a safe way around, it's prolly worth karma (no i don't know any, it's up to you on that one, otherwise just use the rods).
The only thing is if you do a shitty perception, and I roll a bad random die, you may fall in one
Don't cheat your dice rolls though please, these guys are trained in case something like that happens.

Crevasse detector is basicaly a little radar system. You'll still have to bust some intelligence and you can use it to help find a safe crossing point. It says it can locate snow bridges, but you're looking more for ice since big vehicles need to cross.

okay i have come to my conclustion after a couple of days of thought. I will pass my turn so me and giles can Gang Rape (that is what we callled it in my home games) the dual wielder. I will reroll my attack roll when the time comes.

Ok Clim, Giles has attacked using a close combat maneuver (after this run he may be able to teach you the art he knows if you ask him about it). The scarred man seems to be using the "whirling" maneuver (bonus vs. multiple opponents), but you're not sure.

Clim, The scarred man is using 2 points of spell pool in shielding, increasing your target for the bolt to 6 meaning you got 2 successes (seeing how you tarted at moderate rather than light it looks like you expected this). He attempted to reflect it back at you, but only got 2 successes so it dissipated (he needed to exceed you to send it back, and he can only use the number of dice he exceeded you by to do that. I.E. If he'd gotten 3 successes, he'd have 1 die to try and cast it at you.)
