So I was disussing with a friend the option for implanted chips for skill wires. It states that the size is 50% of original and the design cost is 150%. the index goes up by +0.25% and it only uses 1/2 rounded up the ASST value of the skill wires.

So now the question... What would the figures run for a level 8 ettiquette chip and what would the essence cost be?

I came up with a figure around 28,800 per chip... just wanted to know if I was insainly cheap or expensive?

lastly.. how do people/GM's feel about direct/implant chips?

Cost is based on design size.

8*8*3=192mp

192*150%=480mp

480*100*1.25=60,000 nuyen

The chip does not cost any essence, however the dedicated chipjack and the skillwires will cost essence. Chipjack is .2 essence and skillwires will be minimum .8 (4*.2) essence at standard grade. Skillwires just to run this chip will cost 4*(192/2)*500=192,000 nuyen.

Because they seem more like Knowsofts?

I just feel that Social skills rely more on instinct than either book learning or programmed responses (although the latter two certainly do play a part).

I wouldn't know, personally. I have drek for social skills. I guess that is why I look forward to being able to get them on a chip.

Well, it's works fine according to canon. I just (often) use a house rule against it. It just doesn't feel right to me.

One could allow it, but say whenever they're used one could allow the one their being used against a roll to notice them. If said character does, then penalize the chipped character in his remaining attempts. It would sort of be like the reaction one might have when you realize that the smart ass message at the other end of a telephone is just a recording.
