QUOTE (Rotbart van Dainig @ Mar 18 2011, 09:50 AM) *
Releasing Emergence right after System Failure and putting the new AI uprising "a few weeks later", then introduce TMs to the general public would have worked.

OK, prequel to 4th Ed using 4th Ed rules would also have worked...even sound quite nice from the fist impression.

@X-K: Body six means it's large enough for a reinforced (3 slots) turret (2) Weapon Mount plus Armour (1) up to Bodx3. Or how about a standard (1) flexible (1) mount on each arm, 18 Armor (1) again, and a Nano-Maintainance system?

Aliens lifter sounds about right to me.

Well, that's where it gets interesting. The Steel Lynx is only Body 4 and is pretty damn big. Of course, it also has a built in gun mount and armor. Then you have the Suzuki Mirage which is a sport bike that has 6 body. I own a motorcycle and they are not that big. You figure these "drones" are just servos, actuators, and frames, that only reduce agility by 1, not to 1, and it becomes hard to figure out just how big and unwieldy these things are.

Except not really. Artwork between the Mirage and the Steel Lynx says otherwise. Damn you, rules! *shakes fist*

Body = general Size is only true for non anthroform drones, for everythink else there isn't that much connection between body attribute and size, except for more body is generally bigger.

Alright, just finished going cover to cover.

Artwork is very good for the most part, and more than passable even at the worst. The intro fiction for the chapters that have it works well and there is useful information for both players and GMs throughout the book.

Several sections are particularly useful if any group wants to do a few runs in LA and go for the whole glamour lifestyle there, particularly the Trid Scene chapter.

I personally didn't see much in the fashion styles presented in the book that particularly appealed to my character, but your mileage may vary, and one of the whole points of fashion is to make it fit you (or in this case, your character). There are certainly plenty of options provided. /dev/grrl actually has a use in this one without sounding like a complete corporate brainwashed idiot which is a nice change.

Overall view: very well written with lots of good shadowtalk that mostly seems to be properly in character. If this is the look of things to come then the Shadowrun line is back on its feet.

EDIT: Ok, I just realized I now have the rules to make a t-shirt that's 9/2 armor. It'll cost 1200 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nuyen.gif) but it can be done.

To be fair, she's talking about things that are probably her favourite subjects, primarily fashion since she narrates about half of that chapter.

Teenage girls talking about clothes and makeup... sounds about right (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif)

From the fact that she's coming across like a 14 year old non otaku hacker/script kiddie that got invited to a meet and greet on a board with people like immoral elves and great dragons.
She does not fit with the grimdark tone the veterans that usually make up in there . . also, she wrote a frigging school paper about DEUS, one of the 3 great AI's that nobody was supposed to know about.

Corp people. I remember that much. She's in the Corp guide giving the 411 on Growing up a corp kid. I remember one part about her talking about her parents meeting in an inner corp mixer or something.

Heh, corp insider that is too young to be properly indoctrinated in the company ways. And with a bit of "luck" she may spill some internal matters she overheard to try and curry favor with the jackpoint big wigs.

If I can harp back for a moment on the Iron Will, how big are these things? I can't imagine them being as large as say... the lifter from Aliens, but we aren't given any real relative size on it. No artwork to get a good gauge or real description of the item.

The description states it's about 2 and a half meters tall.

So, troll-sized, more or less.

Sure they do. They may just not be the same ones that the next guy has. Remember morality is a taught trait, not an imborn imperative. And it's not a 'yes/no' sort of thing either. It's a huuuge swath of gray, darker on one end of the chart than the other..

OK, allow me to rephrase...

Are there any members of the JackPoint that aren't borderline-sociopaths, or full-on sociopaths? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif)

...

Maybe Frosty and Sunshine.

Sure there are. Not all of um are "Kill um all and let god sort um out" Many have moral codes they follow. Some don't kill women, some don't kill kids. Some won't kill innocents at all. Lots of members of Jackpoint are hackers and don't kill anyone. Some won't steal but will kill and some will steal but not kill.

Are some sociopathic? Sure some are. I think Kane has shown that he's right on out there. lol

How many long-term, successful, Shadowrunners do you think there are out there that don't have some sort of mental issue that keeps them from dwelling too long on the nature of their business? I'd say borderline-sociopathy is something of a job requirement, really.
