I like the idea of doing an intrusion, but I know that 30 is not kitted for it right now.

He doesn't even have his piece with him.

I say we do some light surveillance until Stuntman and Opti are free. Then we gear up and throw together a plan.

From what I can tell so far, Cerus has less security than Cangene, so it would be the better place to hit.

Thoughts?

Ok, one more shot before we just call it a night and come back tomorrow after some sleep.

I will try for a negotiate as well, to back up Stuntman's story.

Negotiation 5 + Charisma 6

Ok - your roll - I took off 3 dice because the guard is now Hostile
And the guards roll

I'm going to include that in the guard's response.

Sorry for the delay guys - work was a nightmare today (IMG:style_emoticons/default/frown.gif)

I assume from wherever we're standing I can see two sides of the building or only need to move a short distance to do so.

I'll use my magnification and low light then repeat with magnification and thermographic to study the two sides of the building. I'm looking for security measures including 'doggie doors' for drones. I'll also be trying to see all the entrances available. After studying these two sides I'll like to repeat on the other two sides.

I understand that the backside may not easily be viewable, if so just do the sides I can easily get into position to see.

Ok, so you are not going to be able to see the back of the building unless you actually go on the property. Even seeing the third side will require you to get close.

For now, I'll describe what you see on the two sides you can see without moving.

We'll call the "front" of the building the north side. You are looking at the north and east side of the building. There are doors on both entrances, cameras on each. There are no drone entrances in either.

There is a small visitors parking lot in front of the front entrance, and the parking lots on the west side - ostensibly for employees.

Your perception check is here

You notice there seems to be a housing on the roof - about the size of a small shed. There are no doors on the sides of it. You also do not see any guards outside the building itself.

Can I give contact info attached to a fake SIN? Better yet, is there a non-hacking way to give out untracable info, like a "burner" cell? Obviously some of these options may not be available in the heat of the moment, just trying to get a feel. It's the kind of "real world" example that, reasonably, they don't cover much in the book (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Slick would like to use his Laser Microphone to listen to what's going on inside the lobby of Cerus. If there's nothing immediately interesting, he'll only listen for about ten seconds.

Intuition 6 + Perception 5

Afterwards, Slick would like to take ten minutes or so and walk around to get a feel for the surrounding neighborhood - types of buildings, street layouts, lighting, security features, whatever he can spot.

Intuition 6 + Perception 5 + "Searching" Perception Specialization 2

In particular he's interested in two things.

1) Any service business within a couple blocks that might be open and serving patrons, like a bar or a taco stand or a gas station, although given we're at "Dove Valley Business Park", I imagine the only things nearby are gonna be offices, warehouses, and commercial type buildings, so I'm not really expecting to find anything.

2) Anywhere nearby with obviously lacking security that seems empty and immediately useable as a disposeable "forward fire base" for this possible intrusion on Cerus. Basically someplace with cover and concealment that no one is gonna be paying any attention to this time of night, and that Slick could get away with picking or forcing a lock or two without much risk of an alarm going off or someone being alerted to the situation.

Ok - good thing to discuss - probably should have been done earlier - but I got ya covered (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Ok, so Commlinks. You can buy a Commlink for as cheap as 100 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nuyen.gif) and a fake SIN for 2500 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nuyen.gif) - but, in order to use a Commlink, you need to have some form of SIN associated with it - fake or otherwise.

Next, fake SINS - as an example, Slick has two Commlinks - a cheap one that is registered to his fake SIN, and an implanted one registered to his real SIN.
So, for example, hypothetically, if one of you were caught, and made to talk, and told whoever caught you that you met at the Augusta, they could track down that Commlink when he used to pay the fee at the door - which would mean that that fake SIN was burned - i.e. the next time he uses that Commlink to do anything, all sorts of red flags show up. However, he can just throw that Commlink away, and never use that SIN again, and he's ok (well, he's out about 8,000 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nuyen.gif) - but he isn't going to jail).

So for you, your Erika Elite is, I'm assuming keyed to your actual SIN. You could have another commlink that was keyed to your fake SIN - you don't have one now, but if it was a rules issue, I'm not adverse to allowing you to purchase one for the purposes of having it linked to your fake SIN.

I don't want to screw anyone over because they didn't understand the rules - eventually though as we all get familiar, the retconning of purchases will stop - so make the most of it while you can (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Your Perception check here

The guard at the desk is quiet, and the only noise you hear is the faint sound of a vacuum from the floor above. The guard must be busy watching the cameras, or the Urban Brawl game, or both (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

1) As you are walking, it is going to take you about 20 minutes to get a sense of what's around. As you might imagine, all of the buildings in the area are similar office buildings with their own security. If you do a quick search via your commlink for eateries or gas stations, you find that there are several within a 5-10 minute drive, but that would be a long walk.

2) Per above, all of the other buildings in the area are office buildings with their own security - not really anywhere you can just break in without dealing with their own security.

Ok Slick, Hosepipe and 30, you see a Lone Star patrol car coming.

Are you going to hide, stand where you are, or something else?

If you would like to hide, there are a few options - some trees, behind one of the signs that stands outside every corporate building with their name on it, there are also a few places where the ground dips down where you could get down out of sight of the road.

Let me know (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

If the patrol is obviously more than 100m away, I kill my link and find a spot to hide, Agility 4 + Sneaking 6 + "Urban" Specialization 2, limit of [5].

-or-

If the patrol is less than 100m away, or Slick isn't sure they that aren't close enough to have seen his commlink on the Matrix, I leave my link active and walk lazily down the sidewalk, smoking, nonchalant, futzing around with my burner commlink looking up the latest Urban Brawl scores.

Human, decent looking suit, openly broadcasting a SIN, listed profession of "sanitation consultant", UCAS resident, walking down the sidewalk in a neighborhood full of offices? Just some chummer going home after a late night at the office. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

If 30 and Hosepipe are near enough that we look like a group, Slick will tell them to "act casual and follow my lead" and start discussing the latest Urban Brawl scores. If Slick is still separate from the others because of his little walkabout through the neighborhood, he'll attempt to appear uninvolved with the others, but will turn on his Shadow commlink in Silent Running and be prepared to back them up if he has to.

This would be after your walkabout, as you are returning to the group - so I will follow your first instructions (the car is about 200 meters away).

I'll wait for the other two to post before I post the IC response.

I definitely woulda gotten one of the 100y commlinks if I'd known about that, so I'll assume myself to have one if that's cool, and pay for it of course.

A fake SIN and a forged SIN aren't the same. A fake SIN comes with backstory, consistent facts, and lots of work on the part of the creator to make sure that it is passable and credible at its level. A forged SIN is an on-the-fly hack job that can be used as a prop or to get booze underage. At least that's how I read it.

Evidently I didn't see the Using Forgery (on the page after the forgery skill)... I had assumed it was since it was listed right after the repair skill that is was going to be one of them really long interval threshold things... the higher the rating you were going for the higher the threshold... I didn't think they'd be a toolkit for forging SIMs as it's electronic data doctoring... but rather youl'd have needed a workshop representing servers and such...

But since it's not a Fake SIM, I wouldn't be spending 7skill points to be able to buy a burger, or beer or get on a bus...a level one Fake SIM is relatively cheap enough and would do all that.
Oh well, live and learn. Can I change the specialization to counterfeiting.

Ok the Lone Star Officers give you a once over.

I took away 2 dice due to size, and 1 more due to visibility.

They notice your cyberdeck (I don't believe you have anything else that is restricted on you).
