So, I logged in just to resurrect this thread.
I'm totally stealing this idea, but making it as a sort of a joke character. My last character was a supremely munchkined mystical adept that was better than most of the rest of the group at their chosen roles just by being. Granted, this is partially due to a lack of understanding in some of the players (our technomancer is an idiot, for starters), but I still felt bad for alternately taking away the spotlight or being blamed for our group screwing up because since I was best at [whatever] and I gave the second best a time to shine...ah, heh. Right. Not that I'm bitter. Back to the character. I'm playing a minotaur luchador named El Toro Negro with the Incompetence (Stealth) and Reduced Sense (Partial): Hard of Hearing defects. Also, Evil Twin, but that's mostly for the WTF factor. Thing is, due to the fact AGI is capped at 5(7) and Unarmed Combat is AGI, I'm actually a pretty terrible wrestler: even with a specialization I'm only at 13 dice without tricks. So my question is this: What tricks should I be running? I'd prefer to be a phys ad without ware since my GM uses RAW concerning essence loss (reduces both max and total, so having that fifth point in MAG would be 25 BP) and I'd like to actually be useful as something other than a bullet sponge. I'm not too familiar with subdual combat and CTRL-F has proven useless to me, so some help there would be appreciated too... Edit: I should mention, in case it's not obvious from playing a metavariant, this is SR4A. |

Subdual Combat has one major advantage in SR4.
It's the only thing that deals straight up STR+x as Damage once propperly applied, and not just STR/2+x. The Problem with this is, that you need to close to the target and actually stay there too, instead of just running in, doing damage, finding cover. You will, realistically speaking, be spending most of your combats flat on the ground doing stuff that would get you a role in a cheap porn flick without the clothing. So you need to be A: Really fast to get into clost combat reach B: Really good at dodging ranged combat C: Really good at soaking ranged combat If you can't sneak woth shit, this only gets harder because as a surprise attack being grappled by a troll is INSANELY effective. Surprised means they don't get to try to dodge and maybe even not defend themselves. They only get to soak your STR+x-their Armor Damage. Seeing how this is stun, it also means their stun track is the target. So if you are a Troll with STR12 and have some damage modificators on your side, then you will be dealing more than enough stun damage in one round to knock anybody out that you can surprise. |

Would Celerity and Satyr Legs go towards that "getting in there quick?" Surged for the legs, for theme. My movement is 30/70.

Celerity stacks with Satyr Legs no problem, and definitely counts for "getting in there quick". (And arguably you can stack both of those with Inline Skates (as well... but you might piss off your GM (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) .)
If you're going the Adept route and you feel your dice pool for grappling is too low, toss in some ranks of Improved Skill: Unarmed Combat (bearing in mind that it is limited to 1/2 your natural skill rating). Combat Skills are pricier than non-combat, but it can be well worth your while. I know you aren't keen on ware, but technically you could burn a point of magic for some bioware to get you above your natural Agility limit, as the Adept powers are completely inefficient above an attribute's natural maximum. Also, even more technically, you can turn a pair of Hardliner Gloves into a Weapon Focus, but those are pricey in more than one way. Martial Arts are your friends too, giving you even more dice to attack with and allowing you to use Maneuvers. Roll to Grapple, then upon success immediately use your next action to employ Finishing Move to apply damage before the enemy has a chance to break free. Oh, and while we're at it, let's go back to the movement speed absurdity and crank it even higher - get your friendly neighborhood summoner to bind a spirit and then "lend" you a bound service, then ask the spirit to use the Movement power on you. A spirit of Force 4 can quadruple your movement speed if your Body is 4 or less, or double it if your Body is 8 or less. They can also maintain the power indefinitely (if Bound) and can even do so while following you astrally. So your 30/70 jumps to 45/115 with Inline Skates, and then if you're a big heavy Troll that gets doubled to 90/230, or if you're a bit more slim you end up at 180/460, at which point you can easily outrun an Aztechnology Aguilar-GX Attack Helicopter. If the spirit also knows Concealment, then you can enjoy a free Chameleon Coating that stacks cumulatively with an actual Chameleon Coating! Now they really won't know what hit them! ~Umi |

go here and take a look at the pixie puncher
http://forums.dumpshock.com/index.php?showtopic=24131 some of that should be applicable to your Luchadore Troll. @Umi I have trouble seeing a Troll with less than 8 body, let alone 4 o.O |

I actually tried to find a way to produce a 4 Body Troll, my first instinct being the Impaired Attribute negative quality, but that only drops your current Attribute if gained during play, and it doesn't technically lower your Minimum, meaning you still couldn't drop from 5 to 4 with it.
I kept searching for other options for a while, but I ultimately decided it's simply so much easier to boost the Force of the Spirit using Movement by 1 point. ~Umi |

If something like muscle-augentation would exist, it would be the no. 1 sales-item of the world. Think of all the lazy guys that suddenly start up with a six-pack. ^^ I would be one of them...of course.

I had a troll named Chromed Demon. He was a guatarist in a rock band. He had enough cyber in him (Cyber everything) and a distinctive chrome look to everything including his guns and bikes. Yes he was a thrill seeker.
