Ok, some rolls for Raven. When the oppurtuntiy presents itself, and if in fact these guys turn out to be anything mroe than mildly threatining, here is what she will do.
She will quick draw her Five-seveN and put a three round burst of ExEx in to the one she has the best shot at. If both are equal then the closest one. At the same time (No doubt adding to her modifier) she will tumble to the right off the bike and atttempt to find some cover in the trees.

You can always do stuff like that. Remember, I'm pushing the game along on purpose, so I'm not going to penalize you if you don't have a chance to pause for breath in the middle somewhere.
The NPCs aren't bright, but not for the reasons Misfit originally thought.

Jun 15 2004, 02:23 PM
Okay, I'm not using surprise for either encounter since both sides have had a chance to assess the other (that, and I don't want to instant-kill Belfast who still didn't beat the guards on the test... they had delayed actions to shoot you guys if you tried anything).
The guard shooting Bel hit with 6 successes. He was shooting at TN 4 (Short range, +2 TN for being in cover, -2 TN for smartlink). Go ahead and dodge if you like.
The damage is 9S base. Go ahead and resist and then let me know which goon you're magicing (if you still are).
Raven's TN was 7, by the way (base 4 + 4 for cover + 2 for walking on difficult ground - 2 for smartlink - 1 for stationary target), and he dodged/soaked enough to bring the damage down to S.
The bear will have to wait till I get home this afternoon because I need something from a book I don't have with me

Oh, umm... Tom will be here at the end of the round.
TinkerGnome
Jun 15 2004, 02:54 PM
Cover and how it works.
I'm using the cover rules from CC (p98) because effectively using cover makes it more difficult to hit your target. You can generally choose the level of cover (provided you're behind something) you are in at the start of any initiative pass (default is the middle +4 with a +2 penalty to shooting) and the cover modifier remains until your next action.
Note that if you're not in cover at the start of the pass, you won't get a cover modifier till the start of the next pass. This is because movement is spread out over the course of the phase and doesn't happen instantly. I'll allow an exception to this if cover is very close by as compared to your movement rate (half or less of your move per phase). To do so, you also need to take a penalty to your attack rolls for the round.
Shadow, Raven can pick on cover now if you like. She's close enough, I think. It'll just mean a M wound for her target instead of an S. Also, did she mean to fire two bursts? You only rolled out one.
The first guard used his simple action for something else, so he was only shooting Bel once, in any case.

TinkerGnome
Jun 15 2004, 04:39 PM
Raven is hit with two successes on the first shot and two from the second. Both are 9S.
His TN was 6 (Base 4 - 2 smartlink, + 3 wound penalties +1 for camo). Also, I've forgotten to use the camo modifiers of the suits the guys are wearing against you. They'll be in effect next pass.
Addendum: Make sure to remind me of stuff like this when we get into combat. The big one is going to be ammo type. If you don't say what you're firing, I'm assuming it's normal ammo.
Misfit Toy
Jun 15 2004, 04:43 PM
Does Camo apply when targeting on the astral? Since I was casting a spell I didn't apply the TN penalty for performing a mundane action, but you did say the area was weird (was I supposed to get a PM about that?). Either way, I'm still relying on it as my eyes. Rolls for my next upcoming action are coming soon.
TinkerGnome
Jun 15 2004, 04:50 PM
Magic's a funky thing that way. If you're actively percieving, it dosen't. If you're not percieving it does. Auras extend past clothing and all.
Don't know what I meant about the area being weird, but it's hard to see too far on the astral because of all of the plant life. Really your vision range is the same on both...
Astral perception will be important in a couple of passes, though.

Shadow, TN is 12 (base 4, - 2 for SL, +2 for Raven's cover, +3 recoil, +4 cover, +1 camo). The one Belfast hit did go down, he's just not out. I'd let you reroll it knowing that, but there's not much point. The dodge TN is 10 and he's nto got much CP left.
Results in the IC.

@ TKG,
I only meant to fire one, I figured with built up recoil a second shot would be a waist of ammo. Raven is going to drop her thermal vis. on and take a gander at where the Rednecks were (or more accuratly, poachers/tree-huggers/terrorists)
If she can see him, she is going to pop off two single shots at him.
