The Jopp
Oh, yes, definitely Johnny Depp as The Laughing Man, after seeing Sleepy Hollow and especially Pirates of the Carribean he is THE actor for the role.
Entropy Kid
Adam Beach as an adapt or shaman, if going conventional; as a samurai if going against type.

Wes Studi as the same, but older and meaner.

Benicio Del Toro as an Aztlan adept going Twisted.

Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, veteran samurai.

Keanu Reeves as a decker. For those that don't see it, check the film of Johnny Mnemonic, that's what it looks like to be scorched by black IC.

Ron Perlman as an ork anything. He's already doing Hellboy, not too much of a stretch, also check Quest for Fire. He could also voice a troll (with some audio effects helping), since I don't think it would work having actors in troll suits.

Treat Williams as Mr. Johnson (...begins with X ends with X...)
mrgoat
Sammie: Rodney Dangerfield.
Adept: Bill Murray.
Rigger: Gilda Radner.
Face: Jennifer Tilly.
Decker: The Comic Book Guy, from The Simpsons.

I would have the most hilarious. Shadowrun team. evar.

Or even better "The Name of the Rose" he was the half witted monk they burn at the stake.
Siege
Actually, how about the main villain from "Blade" as Harly?

-Siege
HMHVV Hunter
Deacon Frost?
Siege
That's the one -- Stephen Dorf.

-Siege
Abstruse
Dorf as Laughing Man? Yeeeech!

The Abstruse One
Zen Shooter01
Okay. Here we go.

Ian McKellan as Johnson.
Hugh Grant as the Face.
Rene Zellweger as the Merc. (Against type, I know, deal with it.)
Tom Hanks as another Merc.
Clancy Brown as the adept shotgunner.
Michael Wincott (he was Top Dollar in The Crow) as the Covert Ops specialist.
Eliza Dushku as the Cat Shaman.
Gillian Anderson as the Rigger.
Ving Rhames or Michael Clark Duncan for the edged weapons adept.
Drain Brain
Actually, Wincott would be better suited to the Edged Weapons adept - IIRC he's an Olympic standard fencer.
Connor
Well, here's my list of must-have's some with, some without parts.

Sean Connery: I think he'd make an excellent corporate ceo-type. Make him look a bit younger and he could even play Damien Knight I bet!

Gary Oldman: I could see him playing just about anything, but he'd have to be part of the cast.

Then there's the other obligatory actors, Al Pacino, Robert DeNiro, Christopher Walken, Andy Garcia, Joe Mantegna that would all at least need to be in supporting cast roles.

Ed Norton: I think he'd make a great central character, probably a face-type

Jack Black: gotta have the wacko in there somewhere, maybe not a part of the team, but he'd make a great BTL Fixer contact or something smile.gif

Other people have mentioned Ving Rhames, Adrian Paul, Steve Buscemi, Kevin Spacey, Branden Frasier, even The Rock. I think they'd all make great actors to put on a team.

What I would find more important than the cast however would be writer/director thoughts...

Christopher Nolan as a director with perhaps co-writing credits going to him and William Gibson...fun stuff!
HMHVV Hunter
As far as directors go, I can see Troy Duffy (The Boondock Saints) or Quentin Tarantino doing it, depending on the story.

Or maybe whoever directed Blade 2.
Lucyfersam
Monica Bellucci - Raven Shamen (Brotherhood of the Wolf, Matrix Reloaded)
Jason Statham - Rigger (Transporter)
Jean Reno - Gunman (Leon, Wasabi, many others)
Ron Perlman - Ork Street Sammy
Rachel Weisz - Face (Mummy, Runaway Jury)
Al Pacino - Fixer
Gary Oldman - Backstabbing Johnson who dies (he always dies)
Joe Pantoliano - Decker (Cypher in The Matrix)
Abstruse
Director of Blade 2 = Benitio del Toro

The Abstruse One
Kurukami
As long as we're discussing orks, how about this guy? I used him as a character-image for a Creole mulattoe ork shaman, and the build seems just about right to me.

Unfortunately, I have no idea what the actor's name is. ork.gif However, he did play a role opposite Jet Li in "Kiss of the Dragon", and seems like a very competent martial artist.
Raptor1033
yeecchhh keep Quentin Tarantino as far away from this as possible. he's known for taking a good story and twisting it a bit too much to be good any more. Gary Tuffy sounds like a good choice for now. I'm tryin to think of the names of some good espionage flicks so i can pull the directors from that. maybe the guy who did the original ocean's eleven?
The Dastardly Deejmeister
QUOTE (Hot Wheels)
Ever see Clint Eastwood in "Unforgiven?" He was old then, but pour a bottle of Jack Danials down his throat and William Munny becomes "the man with no name" real fast.

I think Clint would be an exellent cast for Fast Jack, seeing as he's like 60+ in the game.

By the way folks: this little exercise is the basis of what my game group has dubbed "Bodycasting", the choosing of celebrities to represent our characters' appearance in game, as well as for major NPCs. It's a powerfull tool for roleplaying that we've been using for about 17 years. Try it, you'll like it. biggrin.gif
Shockwave_IIc
If your wanting some BIG to play a ork or troll. Micheal Clarke Duncan, he's the HUGE black guy in thr green mile (john coffee) he's also in Armageddon (bear).

He's about the biggest actor i know.
Connor
Troy Duffy, definately a good choice. At the very least he could do the soundtrack smile.gif

Clint Eastwood as FastJack, that's a very cool suggestion, one that I think is going to stick in my head far too long...heh

Director of Blade 2 = Guillermo del Toro

I believe that David Fincher would direct a fine Shadowrun movie.. a mixture of Se7en and Alien 3.

Alien resurrection has the perfect team:

Ron Perlman is obviously an orc sammie.
They even have a dwarf rigger.

Oh yeah... and sigourney weaver as the mantis shaman...
HMHVV Hunter
Hmmm....never thoguht of David Fincher, but now that you mention it he could probably do a good job of it.
Cain
You guys must have missed it. I mentioned Michael Clarke Duncan on the last page, plus Robbie Coltrane as possible trolls.

My choice for Harlequin? John De Lancie.

Re: John de Lancie as Harlequin:

BRILLIANT! smile.gif

Tyrrell
Immortal elf >> Alan Rickman
snowRaven
Johnny Depp - gunslinger adept
Christopher Walken - hermetic mage on the verge of burn out due to too much cyber (with dancing as centering - used rarely)
Hugh Jackman - face
Guy Pierce - snotty elf rigger
Kirsten Dunst - vampire-on-the-run
Sean Connery - old school street sam turned fixer
Ron Perlman - ork mercenary
Tom Waits - crazy spider street shaman
Robbie Coltrane - dwarf weapon specialist
Colin Farrel - psycho with guns
Halle Berry - Aina
Adrian and Neil Rayment - twin wired-to-the-teeth bodyguards
Collin Chou - adept martial artist
Ed O'Neill - corrupt and evil corp exec
Cate Blanchett - street sam
Rutger Hauer - corrupt and evil company man
Sophie Marceau - mage assassin/sniper
Anna Paquin - young shaman
Michael Ironside - corp security cheif
Orlando Bloom - combat decker
Gary Oldman - assassin/hitman (Blackwing?)
Robert Duvall - FastJack

that leaves the hugely muscled samurai/street brute and the troll... can't find suitable actors for these
Connor
How about this twist? Christopher Walken as Ehran the Scribe...

btw, nice recap list there snowRaven
thunderchild
the guys from Rammstein as russian mobsters.

The main cast from the sopranos as the italians.

the asian gang from the fast and the furious as the yakuza..

the guys from cool runnings as the yardies. biggrin.gif

Me as the head of the Ancients.... (i ride like a fucking madman, and look like one too....) short of me... Ethan Hawke.

Bruce Willis - as Dirk Montgomery

<snip>

Surely they would better portray "Der Nachtmachen" since, IIRC, Rammstein are all German...
Grimtooth
YOWZA!

I hadn't thought of it before but Bruce Willis would make a GREAT Dirk Montgomery.

Buzzed
If you put a beard on Danny Devito, he would look like the dwarf on SR pg. 47.
Especially on Danny's final scene of Get Shorty. grinbig.gif

well he plays the drunk down and out PI/copper so much, and does it so well.

and as far as rammstein being german, i know that, but they could pass for russian skull breakers just as easy.

Drain Brain
Granted, TC, I'll give you that... but why bother when there are so many unpleasant German policlubs just ASKING for Rammstein to beat heads for their cause!?!
Sahandrian
Keanu Reeves as our resident munched physad / security diversion, Epoc. Epoc is a Neo wannabe already.
Nephyte
For some non-human roles:

Both Danny DeVito and Rhea Pearlman (I believe that's his wife) as Dwarves. For some reason when I look at the Shaman in the BBB I think of Rhea.

I'd tap Vin Diesal, The Rock and Brock Lesnar as Orks (Brocks from WWE)

The Big Show (whatever his name might be) and Vim Rhanes (not sure how to spell his name - played opposite the Rock in The Scorpion King.)

For Elves I'd like Liv Tyler, or Jason Isaacs. I'd like to cast Isaacs in the role of Dodger if her were to make an appearance in the movie.

I have to agree with Bruce Willis kicking some major mojo as Dirk Montgomery.

I know he's hated, but I like the idea of Keanu Reeves. He has the look for a Cyberpunk movie. I know that for years before the Matrix ever came out a lot of characters I've seen in my gaming region that played SR were modeled on Neo types. (Black Leather with the trenchcoat - nothing amazingly original but he fits the look)

I like Eliza Duhksu for a "militiant" type roll.

I'd love to throw Alyssa Milano in there as a Hermetic. That's a pure hormonal thing however.

Jason Statham, Val Kilmer, Ed Norton, would all be some of my other choices.
Tiralee
Janeane Garofalo - Fixer, Mage (Imagine her snarling at someone, then ripping off a force 9 toxic wave...) and all-round hard-ass.

Face it, she's a raving nutjob loony who looks like she could litrally rip precious things from various parts of anotomy and keep them for later.

Elvira, Mistress of the Dark. - Waitress or street-mage.

Sigourney Weaver - Rigger. I mean, she's all sniew and tendons and attitude.

Whoopi Goldberg - Face or fixer. Go a bit grungy and have a rant.

Gov. Arnie - Cyberzombie. Hell, he's got it down pat by now cyber.gif And it/he doesn't need to speak much...

Rene Rousso : Assassin. Typecast, but oh so believeable.

Stallone - Washed-up Corp security advisor. I.e. - meat-on-legs.

Hugo Weaving - Well, Corp Suit. Or fixer. Or Face. Or pure evil. (Out of interest, who though he was going to ask Frodo in LoTR: "Will you...cooperate, Mr Anderson?" I've asked about 30 people and the answer is "yes")

Gillian Anderson - Rigger, oh yeah.

Lance Henriksson - Face, fixer or mage. I mean, he drips outerworldly menace or what?

Roseanne - Shaman. Probabily Bear. smile.gif

Did anyone see Weaving in Proof? He'd make a great blind magical investigator or something crazy like that.
And we want his real accent!

Gary Oldman - assassin/hitman (Blackwing?)

Okay, I'm just joining this conversation, and I'll confess to not having read the entire thread. However, I did read this. And I'm hurt.

The Blackwing personality in Corporate Punishment is based on my character. Although Gary Oldman is like unto a god where acting is concerned, he would not be the one to play this role. Only one man has the physique, look, and mannerisms to properly play this role. That man is Adrian Paul.
Drain Brain
I only just thought of this (having seen Ghost Ship yesterday reminded me) - Gabriel Byrne! He's a great actor, capable of doing any role you push at him, and so his "face" could potentially fit any character! I'd probably go with a Johnson, though. Others from the film:

Karl Urban (Munder - also Eomer from LotR:TT) as a street mage/shaman. Real grungy feel to him.
Ron Eldard (Dodge) would make a great combat worthy Face character. He was a Golden Gloves boxer, you know...
Isiah Washington (Greer) would make a great Company Man - former or otherwise - complete with SUBTLE™ cyberware.

And Yet More, at random:
Takeshi Kitano (Takahashi, Johnny Mnemonic) as Yak Oyabun.
Don Francks (Hooky, Johnny Mnemonic) Dwarf Rigger.
Dennis Haysbert ("Chief" Billy Graham, Navy SEALS) as an Ork Sammy...
Daniel Dae Kim (various - Angel, Voyager, The Jackal etc) Corp Cuit/Physad/Yak... take your pick.
Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa (LOADS, including Shang Tsung from Mortal Kombat) as the Johnson from the shiny page pictures in the BBB - "Mr Johnson... and friends"
Richard Jordan (Logan's Run, Dune, Many others) - Corp/Maf BIG BOSS
Brad Dourif (fragging EVERYTHING!) Aged, whacky mage!

More to come!!!!!!!!!

In the first LotR film when hes talking aobut the strength of man failing and all that , i was half expecting him go off on his "human race is a virus" thing from matrix.

Speaking of Fellowship of the Ring. Did anyone else notice the elvin bookcase? How the heck do you get to the books that are on the ends of the shelf?
