The "dragon" gun from Robocop WAS just a Barrett 50 cal, same as was being discussed earlier in the thread, just with doodads stuck on it.

*shrug* Barrett .50 cal. I was amused, personally.

I've always run Assault Cannons as being something along the lines of an Aerotek 20x82mm rifle made more ergonomic, or something firing the 25mm ammunition for the M242 that's been talked about earlier. I figure the enormous barrel shroud we usually see in pictures is part of a hydraulic recoil reduction system similar to that used in the Barrett.

SR4's Panther is really not something I have a huge problem with. It's big, it's scary, it's long range, it fires one shot a pass, and it's the ultimate in nonconcealable mag-fed firepower that a big dude (read, borg or ork/troll) is going to fire from the shoulder. Frankly, it's one of the ONLY borg-class weapons in Shadowrun, a fact which greatly disappoints me (where're my 14mm handguns, dammit?). Grenade launchers are argueably more lethal to infantry.

Under the RAW I don't believe we're allowed to load specialty ammo types into the Panther... one of the listed types is Assault Cannon ammunition, which would seem to be figured into the existing damage/AP code.

Now that you mention it that seems correct by RAW. embarrassed.gif That, coupled with the huge power boosts assigned to the ammo types means an PJSS Elephant Rifle with APDS and firing both barrels has the same net damage coding as the same the PAC, DV 10, -5 AP. No clip though, so that is the trade-off from an easier to obtain pairing, 16F for APDS versus 20F for the PAC, and having a weapon that at least looks registerable until you crack it open and inspect the ammo. Of course Ex-Ex gives you even more DV, 12, but only -3 AP for the same net penetration and Avail 12F. wobble.gif

So the one weapon where it actually makes sense a lot of sense to have multiple exotic types of ammo doesn't have it? LOL, did I mention I consider SR4's ammo fubar?
