Only to reach Aurora, we'd have to go through the CAS (maybe through Parker). Otherwise we find a security hole from the PCC district into the FRFZ (Front Range Free Zone), possibly contend with the Zone Defense Force, go around to the UCAS side of the fence and find another hole there...
(actually that's probably our best bet, anyone have a helicopter or such)

Well, I like the fact the J is offering us guides. I don't have any Coyotes in my contacts, and though Reg knows the holes, the Coyote's knowledge of patrols would be a great help.
Reg will put in a vote for guides across the borders when I next pose.

The guy has a brag sheet a milelong (close on 10 years in denver shadows)and has no major shadow enemies, the Yaks dislke him, and he's had issuses with a range of corps, they say he's worked for about four great dragons (well thats what the rumourmill says) and The other odd thing is that he is well liked by most of the local runners, apparently he has a history of helping the helpless. He has a regular team but used to work with along side the Pack a Sioux based team. he has a rep as a bit of a street doc too. Along with the search digets you get a message from Foofles, "hey kid, why the interest in Metatron?"

Coyotes (often known as guides) are professional border hoppers. They know the weakpoints in the zone walls, the guard patrols, etc. If you don't want to mess with border guards, a coyote is your best bet to get you across town.

@Ankle Biter:
Not sure, if you got the right idea of what a skinlink is... it's not possible to run a network over skinlink, unless you stay in constant touch contact (and those in touch also have skinlinks on their comms). That's the whole point of skinlink, that it does not go further than your physical body (or whoever you touch).
You could use the skinlink to request a network connection upon touch (with other skinlinked commlinks), as you did, but once you break touch, the connection can only persist if it is wireless, otherwise it will be broken as well.
Therefore, the network we are using can only be wireless. Your commlink must be connected to it in a wireless fashion as well.

Apr 23 2006, 11:24 AM
I pretty much took it for granted that the skinlink was the original request, then established a tight area wireless network... Something Reggie created if it wasn't there, and how I beamed the signal to Felice. I guess we could have had a combination skin/wireless depending on who was still touching Shiver. I'm not about to be picky about it, as Reg will skip from one to the other as needed, and the wireless was encrypted among those I polled from Shiver's subscription list.
Otherwise it would look like we're all one big happy family holding hands.
Ankle Biter
Apr 23 2006, 12:05 PM
I'm just toching somebody next to me as I have no encryption on my box, so anything I broadcast can be intercepted, I am assuming the commlinks with encryption are then retransmitting as necessary.... If I have this wrong I guess I don't follow how commnets work, sorry.

It's clearing a few things up for me too. I assumed initially that it was a skinlink request, then a wireless signal network that got established.
Thanee
Apr 23 2006, 01:59 PM
That actually sounds like you got it right initially... the skinlink request can only be meant as a subtle way to set up a private wireless communication network. Basically a means to give you something to connect to without broadcasting it for everyone in the vincinity to see, since you usually don't have any means to target a signal at a specific commlink without having some sort of 'handle' or 'address' for the commlink in question. I suppose technomancers can do such stuff, but a simple commlink most likely can't, without previously sniffing on the various commlinks in the area and filtering out the one to send the request to specifically, once you find something to identify it by (if there is anything even).
What Shiver did (IMHO) is to broadcast the request to set up a network into the skin's energy field, hoping for a skinlinked commlink to pick up on that request (which is also why it didn't work with Felice, since she has no skinlink on her commlink).
Something else worth of note... all the awakened (and everyone else without any implanted DNI (i.e. cyber-commlink or datajack) or technomancy) will need trodes to actually use the private communication channel like we do.
You need a way to translate thoughts into data for that, which is exactly what the trodes and datajacks do.
Hope I got everything right there.

Bye
Thanee

Apr 23 2006, 02:26 PM
yep, thats my take, however, subvocal mikes or just using text would work fine and be fairly subtle. Trodes let you do it with no sign of activity

Apr 23 2006, 02:33 PM
As an aside, is it possible to maintian one physical and one 'trode conversation' simultaneously?
Ophis
Apr 23 2006, 02:38 PM
Not without effort, speaking and using DNI are both under free actions, so as long as your only walking or doing simple actions it's possible, try actively thinking and speaking about different things, you get a bit distracted right?

Just a note to everyone, there are 6 of you and I know two of you have no transport of your own, and racing bikes handle like pigs with passengers.(they've always been one seat inprevious editions and I see no reason this would change).
The team does have enough transport, I checked. But you should sort that IC.

Ophis

No it was to anklebiters question about if they gave any bonuses to the test. Rereading it it is awful. Thermo and Lowlight, cancel or at least reduce various light related penelties to vision, rather than giving bonuses. I that clearer?
The -2 is due to the distracting nature of a night club(or indeed anywhere crowded/noisy/weirdly lit).
