Background: Azatlan has made some bold moves in the past few weeks on the corporate court further increasing it's economic strangle hold on the world. Strangely the normal opposition from the other mega's has been non existant.
Run:
The runners are approached on a rainy winter day in the usual means (fixer etc) by a man of untold years and covered in mayan tatoos. He seems crazy, keeps repeating that "white bird must fly, or she will die". He will ask the runners to retrieve a white bird held captive in a remote area of azatlan. The man will front some money but the lure would be the large cage made of "pure gold" that houses the bird, which the runners are more than welcome to keep if they bring the bird to him, the bird must remain in the cage until he can see it. Transportation subject to negotiation, ranging from fully paid, to "get there yerself". Small upfront payment, potentially large backend payment, medium to large karma rewards.
Legwork:
Some successful searching on magical channels will reveal that there is a rumor about a white bird who's life is some how linked to the fate of the world.
Whats Really Happening:
The bird's life is linked to the end of the world, when the bird dies, the world dies. Being in its magical gold (and oricalcum) cage, it can't fly and is slowly dying because it is not free. Azatlan has been using this bird as a big barganing chip on the counsel, because they're the only ones brave enough to toy with ending the world. The man who hired the runners is what could be considered to be the birds true keeper, he may actually be several thousand years old. And the bird has been alive since the beginning of known time, or atleast since the crest from the 4th to the 5th age (for those of you who're counting).
End game:
This is a pretty simple extraction run. If the runners find out all the details of what the bird is, (and it's world ending properties). Then they could use it to force more pay from the johnson (for less karma reward).
When the bird is freed, some strange world happenings occur, the winds slow, thunder and lightning strikes from the huge clouds that have manifested, and a joyous bird song can be heard through out the world. The man will smile at the sound of the song and leave the runners with the cage.
If the bird is freed before the man sees it, azatlan will capture it again and the man will ask them to try again.
If the bird dies some how, major earthquakes occur the world over on major fault lines, and a report about how the world is potentially slowing to a stop will be broadcast. Carry on citizen!
