I'm curious.
emo samurai
That's me, with the "I'll give it a try."

Yeah, yeah, nail that sticks up gets hammered down and everything...
Kagetenshi
Every person I can move from the "yes" or "I'll give it a try" column into the "no, definitely" column is a personal victory for me.

YOU LOSE HAHAHAHAHA!!
FanGirl
If I somehow get an XBox 360, I may rent it. I may possibly buy it if I like the game well enough. But I doubt that I'll get any gaming consoles in the near future, so I most likely won't get the game either.
stevebugge
I'm a no, since I am not going to go buy an Xbox just for a SR-like game. That and I hate FPS video games in general, greatly prefer strategy games.
PBTHHHHT
meeep, well I'm open to trying but then again I'm a FPS fan. Though, I'd much rather wait for the new Battlefield games to come out and play those than this Shadowrun game.
mmu1
I don't buy multiplayer-only FPS games.

I'll play the occasional WWII-themed CTF game like Call of Duty multiplayer, or Day of Defeat (both of which came with single player games I got) but outside of that, I don't even have any interest in the multiplayer aspects of any other shooters. I played enough Quake and Team Fortress back in college to last me a lifetime. Maybe if something new like Planetside, but with a setting I'd find more interesting comes out, I'd give it a try, but otherwise... meh.

And since I really hate the fact this game has nothing in common with SR but the name, I really have no incentive whatsoever to give this game a try.
Butterblume
I voted No.

But then, i am not a fan of egoshooters.

WyldKarde
Mine's an obvious 'no' as my PC isn't up to the task of running any game less than five years old and I don't own an X-Box.

Even if I did, I doubt I'd go for this one though. If it ain't set on the polluted streets of Seattle with at least one urban shaman, it ain't Shadowrun.
James McMurray
I'm amongst the "I'll try it" crowd. I'm sure someone know will get it so I probably won't have to.
mintcar
Obvious no. I can honestly say that I would forgive a game with "Shadowrun" printed on the cover almost anything. If it was a multiplayer FPS in the Shadowrun world, well that would be the first game of that kind I payed money for. If it was a story based first person shooter with this distorted storyline they came up with, I would propably give it a chance. Obviously if it was a Shadowrun RPG I would buy it regardless of what crazy things they did with it. In short, they managed to bulls eye perhaps the only combination of gameplay and handeling of canon that leaves me with absolutely no reason to buy the game.
Moon-Hawk
When I found out about the SR video game, I thought to myself, "Wow, I guess I'm going to have to get an Xbox 360 sooner than I thought." But after seeing the demos and everything else on E3, I just want a Wii. I'm sure I'll get a 360 eventually, and when I do I'll check out the SR game, and if it's decent I might pick up a used copy.
mintcar
I agree, Wii's the wiinner. (Say what you will about the name change, but the possibilities for puns are endless wink.gif )
ShadowDragon8685
Mintcar summed it up nicely.

Had they set this FPS shooter with a plot, I'd have bought a 360 just for it.

Had they set it in Seattle, in recognizable Runner places, I might have.

Had they set it in Seattle with a plot and as an FPS, I'd have bought a 360 for it.

Had they made it an RPG, I'd have bought it no matter WHAT they did to it.

This? I'm gonna save up for a Playstation 3.
L.D
Heh... the same goes for me.
emo samurai
What if they made a Dragonheart Trilogy RTS where you coordinate hordes of runners against hordes of Horrors? Would it be worse then?
ShadowDragon8685
Pass. I'm not a fan of the Horrors. Besides, "Hordes" goes against the concept of runners.

Now, if they made a Shadowrun RTS where you coordinate Knight-Errant forces or UCAS miltiary, or Saeder-Krupp forces against Horrors, maybe. With Shadowrunners as elite special units. smile.gif
Sicarius
having the license may give you the ability to slap the word "Shadowrun" on it, but that don't make it so.

I had no interest in a Xbox 360, but I was all but on a waiting list when i heard there would be a shadowrun game.

oh well.

not money i needed to spend anyway.

No, but it probably would have been weirder.

Seems like your winning. No "Yes" votes yet.
eralston
I wish there was a "Try it just to laugh at it" choice. Otherwise, I suppose I'll try it if I can't completely repress the horrible memories of it by the time it comes out
Lagomorph
I voted to try before deciding, because it looks like it could have a fun gameplay, but considering that I probably won't buy any of the new game consoles, I'll probably not be buying any games. (though the "Console formerly known as Revolution" does look pretty interesting)
Rajaat99
I know it won't do justice to SR.
Laser
No, because I'm not too big on computer games, especially not console twin-releases. About the only game I'm looking forward to is NwN 2...
Catsnightmare
I vote No.

I don't own an XBox, don't want to buy one just for a game. Especially not for a FPS. Don't get me wrong, I like and and enjoy FPS games. On a PC. Because I hate console control pads as much as I hate SR4. It's nearly impossible for me to get anywhere on a FPS with the piss-poor sensativity of movement on a damn joypad. Give me my custom set sensativity-level optical trackball and my customized-to-my-hand key command setup.

Plus the vile and foul rape of the Shadowrun universe/story they inflicted on this game is enough to make me not want to even look at it.
blakkie
It is coming out on the PC too, assuming your machine has the cajones to run Windows Vista and you plunk down the cash for that to whenever that ships.
ChuckRozool
When I upgrade to a better PC and purchase MS Vista, I will prolly look for a, uuuh... "backup copy"? This way if I don't like it, nothing was lost except time. That's the wonderful thing about PCs and the interweb, you don't have to spend money on apps if you know where to look. Of course you all know this, but I'm prolly the only one dumb enough to say it "out loud" on this forum. Now I've been marked.

SocialChameleon
No reason to buy this game, as I've already played it. You know, back when it was called Counter-Strike.
mfb
someone say something i disagree with. this is weirding me out.
eralston
Puppies should replace cows as the #1 source of meat?

Neo-conservativism will ultimately cause oil to be as affordable as tube socks at wal-mart?

Socialism could work if we all wore more comfortable pants?
mfb

eralston
Maybe Shadowrun will only 99% suck
mfb
see, now you're just going off the deep end.
eralston
Sorry, Sorry. A rabid idiot broke into my house, posted that, and now my name is mud
L.D
The Xbox 360 Shadowrun game will be the best game ever!

Happy now? grinbig.gif
eralston
Dude, acid hurts your brain

Having watched quite a bit of the E3 stuff on G4, I think they would make an FPS out of anything
Jaymes
Maybe if the game was actually about Shadowrun and not just a poorly developed Counterstrike knockoff that straight up ignores all the SR rules and history then perhaps it would be worth a shot. But since I have yet to find one thing I like about the game, I hope they bury it in thde pit from where they discovered and excavated all those old Atari 2600 games.

All those old Atari games?
I thought it was just E.T.?

Anywho, whatever
BookWyrm
I voted Don't Know. I'll have a more definable opinion after I've read some reviews & seen the game in action.
But from what little has been released about it, it's unlikely.
Shrike30
I'll try it out, but don't expect to buy it unless i'm wowed. I'm not interested in sinking the grand or so into my PC that'd be required to upgrade it to being a decent gaming machine again, there's no way i'm buying a 500 dollar console, and honestly, the game doesn't look like it does anything really innovative, from what I've seen so far.

And i'm HAPPY with winXP, dammit. I don't WANT to upgrade to Vista.
John Campbell
Leaving aside any questions of quality... I rather doubt they'll be releasing a Linux version, so it almost certainly won't run on anything I own.

You are correct; it was just E.T. Sorry for the confusion. But on the bright side, I just read an article that claimed that the reason it was buried was because it sucked so bad. So I guess the reference is more relevant than I first suspected. ;D
xizor
Frankly, If somone gave* me an Xbox and a copy** of the game, I'd try it.

**Its intresting that the corect term for a legaly purcesed piece of softwear, like a game, is Copy.

I have a 360 (got it from launch), and i'll be getting the game. I'm not normally a fan of vs multiplayer (I prefer co-op, rather than going off against some pimply teen who screams "PWND YO MOMMA" down the headset at you every few seconds, and then when you beat him, how can you feel good about it, when he's only a kid? Hm.), but i think i'll try it out. I'm less concerned about what they've done to the game, and what kind of game it is, than how well it plays online, and if they have some decent servers (unlike EA's laggy-as-hell servers).
Taran
Pass. Even if it was God's gift to gamers, I don't have enough computer to run it.
Darkeus
No sir, I don't like it.. This game is not Shadowrun and it is not going to be good. I don't know when it happened in the video game industry but thic copy cat crap is getting tired.

Since they'll have bots you could set up a "co-op" game by putting all the humans one team and filling out the other faction with bots. But without a "campaign" of some sort to follow a storyline that sort of co-op isn't likely what you are looking for. While they do have the basic elements of a storyarc in place i don't see them talking too much about writing the code to string together a campaign mode across their multiple maps for single-player or co-op multi in mind.

rotfl.gif rotfl.gif Back in the early 80's i played Donkey King on the TRS-80 CoCo. This game isn't anything close to a copy cat to anything compared to that. So is it possible you didn't notice it starting to happen because you hadn't been born yet when it did? wink.gif
