Hmm...for exfil... I assume they have ambulances in Nigeria.... say we're taking our sick/injured patient to proper medical facilities?
JackRipper
Jun 20 2006, 04:35 PM
Hey great idea whiz...along those lines why not travel as a medical aid/relief team?
Whizbang
Jun 20 2006, 04:39 PM
question is, where to find an ambulance in an abandoned city, or how to have one waiting for us on the way out.
TheOneRonin
Jun 20 2006, 04:44 PM
That's a great combo of ideas. I'm sure we can even disguise some of our gear as biohazard stuff so it doesn't get checked too thorougly.
Shadow, I'd like to make a Global Current Events skill check to see if Church knows about any epidemics or something of the sort going on in Nigeria.
Skill: Current Events (Global)
Dice Roll: 1, 3, 3, 4
If I can spend Karma to re-roll failures, I'd like to do-so.
Karma Re-roll: 2, 3, 5, 11
Slightly better.

Shadow, is the WHO still around?
JackRipper

you kidding me that band is half dead now...lol
World Health Organization...i know
TheOneRonin
Jun 20 2006, 05:06 PM
Holy shit...I completely missed that!
Well, if we can get some WHO covers, it would save us a LOT of trouble, and even keep nosy militia out of our gear (WARNING: BIOHAZARD!).
Plus we can bribe people with things like painkillers (hello morphine!), and other type of drugs we would have available.
And carrying such valuable medical supplies would require us being armed. I like!
I still think we need at least 50k nuyen worth of local currency (cash) for bribes and whatnot.
What does everyone else think?
PBTHHHHT
Jun 20 2006, 05:32 PM
Oh gawd, disguising ourselves as NGO's... you know in the news those groups have complained about government folks disguising themselves as NGO's would undermine their neutrality status... I like it.

Shadow, just a heads up on my upcoming disposition. I will be at a conference in Indianapolis from the 26th through the 29th of this month. I won't have any internet access during the day, but I should be able to post a little in the evening.
From the 30th of June until the 6th of July, I will be on vacation in SC with my in-laws who also don't have internet. I will try to come up with some way to post at least intermittantly (dial-up...ugh...) during that time, but won't be able to make any promises.
If the game gets stuck waiting on me, I would like Frosty to be able to post in my place. failing that, Shadow, you can fill in for me if you don't mind.
As it gets close to my travel time, I will keep you all updated.

The real question is if all our gear requirments (special non military stuff) is available.

British Special Forces (and pilots) carry a few gold coins (5 I think), issued to them by the Ministry of Defence, in case they get into trouble behind enemy lines.
Do U.S. forces have a similar system?
JackRipper
Jun 20 2006, 11:38 PM
Not since WWII, thats what the big patch on fighters jackets were (Blood chits) it was a promisory note to bring them back to friendlies in order to get a reward. This was in the China/Burma area. The U.S. uses it's SAR (Search Air Rescue) capabilities.

Jun 20 2006, 11:47 PM
U.S. pilots operating in a hostile theater are given an evasion map which shows local terrain, has a number of useful phrases on it in the local language(s), i.e. "I require food/water/medical assistance", and also has on it detachable numbered 'chits' which may be turned in to US or Allied forces for reward money for aiding the downed aviator.
PBTHHHHT
Jun 21 2006, 02:43 AM
I don't think we want chits though, more than likely we'd like to make sure they don't know who we work for. Maybe cold hard cash?

I will be unable to post Wednesday and Thursday, I might get a chance, but I doubt it.
TheOneRonin
Jun 21 2006, 02:26 PM
Cash for sure, in local currency would be ideal.
Also, if we are traveling as a medic team, drugs should work as bribes as well.
JackRipper
Jun 21 2006, 02:40 PM
we should find out the exchange rate...if its worth more as TP we should use Yen or another currency.
Shadow
Jun 21 2006, 06:47 PM
Ok let me answer the questions, but first, Grendel, you so rock, post in my threads any time

Honestly, when is there not something killing people in Africa. At the moment it is Asiriius Silasicious. A very deadly genetic plague that turns the body immune system in on itself. There are some cures but mostly it is a make comfortable till they die disease.

My understanding of the plan so far is to get in country, disguise yoruselves as healt care workers, steal or purchase an ambulance and go from there... correct?
As for you bieng out Ronin, I don't think it will be a problem. The 28ths i smy birthday so I wont be posting that day anyways.

I like the health worker idea, its great cover that we may be able to use to flex on guards also due to the political angle (Screw with use and your aid money gets cut)

I think no matter what the Op is called, the team would refer to it as Op Jelly finger as an inside joke. (if we went with the Doctor staff cover)

PBTHHHHT
Jun 23 2006, 06:36 PM
Ok, things to get/do.
*Civilian clothing for our cover
*ID's for posing as a medical NGO group, probably on a field fact finding operation (best cover I can think of right now)
-Saint acting as the medical personnel
-LT as a field administrator/analyst/team leader
-the rest acting from either security or other technicians
*get a few extra medical equipment to further hide that fact.
*cash for bribes, getting a vehicle
*Plan route for driving to the location
-contingency plans for leaving the area in a hurry
-Plan for other routes if driving there does not work out.
*We need to go over the map some more and plan for approach path and such. How to deal with the various troops there.
*handling of mage
-magemask (for transportation)
-tranqpatches (for transportation)
-stun grenades/gas grenades/nausea gas grenades (subdual purposes)
*Too bad we can't get communication for a missle strike, that would make things easier in some way if we need it. Just paint target...

This is very sad circumstances to return to. Does anyone know if there is a way we can contact his family and share our condolences?
I will say prayers for him, his family, and all others who share in this loss.
