Ok feel free to post, it is Tuesday, June 12th, 2063. You are in a Escape and Evasion training. Currently youare completeing the classroom portion, so you are at Baker Field, its 90 degrees out side and very sunny.

Ronin, your pager/cell/implant just signaled for the team to assemble at the "Lecture Hall" in the HQ building.

I will open each of my posts with the current time and location. For you guys just the time will do. Please post it in millitary time, bolded. No need to put in seconds, just minutes.
JackRipper
Ahh refresher courses.
PBTHHHHT
Africa?! Oh man. smile.gif
Shadow
I thought long and about what continent to send you guys too. South America, China, Australia, where oh where. Then I saw a map of Camaroon smile.gif
JackRipper
I was in Somalia ( 1st Mardiv 9th Marine Regiment), and in Sierra Leone. I can still smell those places in my head....welcome home i suppose.
JackRipper
I see by the Bio "Church" believes in loose organization, that mean L T (El Tee) is appropriate field talk? As part of the team i believe we'd have that knowledge as to if he feels its appropriate.

TheOneRonin
Yeah. Church believes that all of you guys are professional, and thus can leave the "Yes Sir!" at the door. He still requires respect as the mission/team leader, and his word is final on all matters.

But if you are curious as to how your characters will refer to me, I'll suggest the following:

On Post/Base

Boss
Chief
El Tee

In country

Church
"cover name"
Bravo Actual (comm callsign)

@ Shadow: How long have we been training together? I'm guessing this is our first op as a team?
Shadow
This is your third rotation together. The rotations go, Field, Atached, Training. You guys are in your first training rotation together, you have bene deployed once to San Juan. That op lasted three days and it was a rescue mission. It was succesful, no casualties.

You guys were attached to the Border patrol and spent 3 months fighting border skirmishes. Now you have been in a training rotation for two months. You are being pulled out early cause the A-team is deployed and the C-team is on a border rotation.
TheOneRonin
Gotcha. So that means the team has had plenty of time to get familiar with one another. Good deal.
JackRipper
Suggestion: Maybe if its allowable (by GM) we could vote on a team karma pool once we make some karma. Its for being a close knit group, that we'd cover eachother. Like i said just a suggestion.
PBTHHHHT
Aye, that sounds good with me, you have my vote for it if it's allowable.
I do like it that we are familiar with one another.
Shadow
I am fine with it.

Here how karma works by the way. You get 2 points for every week that you have posted once a day (that being Monday-Friday). The award is given on Sundays. The points may be spent immediatley. No training time is needed to raise skills.
PBTHHHHT
Sounds good. Sorry, was away from the computer all of yesterday and right now I'm at the office frantically getting stuff for my deadlines on Monday. I'll be ready to post away after that. smile.gif

edit: oh yeah, any thoughts of what nickname my character would be given by the group? I thought it'd be more interesting than picking a nickname and instead have y'all decide on it. nyahnyah.gif
TheOneRonin
Hey guys, I just opened up a myspace site: Check it out!

I've posted up some links to a few web resources you guys might find interesting, and I'll try to upload some pics and other game relevent things as time goes on.

Shadow, if you need any visuals or other data available that you can't put on the boards, let me know and I'd be happy to throw it up on my site.

Shadow
Nice Ronin, I adde dyou to my friends, I am Jeff.
JackRipper
Tommorrow (Tuesday 13th) I'll be posting later in the day, evening to be exact. I'm helping my folks get ready for hurricane season and the impending storm now.

Just a quick shout out to let yall know i'm not flakeing
Shadow
No problem, the game didn't even officially start till today. I do apreciate the heads up though.
TheOneRonin
Hey, I've posted some new pics on MySpace. I've got an illustration of Church, plus some pics of Bravo team during some training exercises.

Let me know if you guys want some specific pics...I have plenty.
Shadow
Hell yeah!

Outstanding. Man looking at those pics is almost enough to make me want to re-up.

I am going to give you guys till the afternoon to make any posts you want. Then I am going to move right along.
JackRipper
"Buster" will look at the LT for permission to ask a question.
Shadow
You all have till noon tomorrow to ask any quuestions. The SM has given everyone permission to speak their mind.

How about "Saint"? I figure with you being a medic, a mage, and a Catholic, it would be just about right. And how many bullet wounds do you have to heal before you are sick and tired of hearing people say "Man, you are a saint"?

Whizbang
lol at the Saint nickname. Yep, that sounds about right.

And Shadow, do you use your Gmail anymore? Wondering if that's just your ghost I've been seeing idle....
Shadow
I do, I am usually on at night. I can check my gmail during the day but I can't use the IM feature.

kelvaris AT gmail DOT com
Whizbang
Ah. Been seeing you idle, and not getting any response. Guess that explains it.
PBTHHHHT
K, Saint it is. Awesome, well, I'll start using that now. smile.gif
Shadow
I am running a little late at work, I will get the post out the door today though.
Shadow
Picture of facility

Ok in my head I broke the pic down iin Quadrants. Starting from the top left to right, it is Alpha, then Bravo etc. The Facility is in Echo. It is the one with the big half moon shaped field. There is a rail yard that rune diagnally up through it from right to left.
JackRipper
I have a DSI agent as a contact (which is the CAS version of the CIA, my assumption that's Atlanta), is it within acceptable operations limits to contact?

oh is cameroon still famous for its coffee in this time period?
Shadow
You would need to clear it with Frosty or Ronins character, but I don't see why not. Just keep it vague on the details.

Thats pretty much their cash crop atm.
FrostyNSO
Where are we staging from? (Where will the C-160 be taking off from before we do the insertion?) Canary doesn't have a preferred loadout so he'll have to choose from what's available there....so he might try and call the general to see if he can pull some strings and get some equipment rushed to wherever we're heading out of before we get there.
Shadow
You guys usually stage from Cherry Point. Any and all equipment needed can be provided. Ask and you shall receive.
FrostyNSO
Canary will present his list to the CO after briefing then...
JackRipper
Cherry point? any chance Saigon Sam's is still there? lol
TheOneRonin
400 miles? My math is a bit rusty, but if we are moving non-stop through jungle and other terrain, won't that take us just a hair over 4 days to cover?

Can someone with real life experience check my math?
JackRipper
40 is the max i've been pushed in a day and that sucked....time to do a little GTA in country...or we can rent a car/truck. oldest wisdom of infantrymen is....why talk when you can sleep, why stand when you can sit, and...why walk when you can ride. (of course it never works out that way)
JackRipper
40 wasnt in dense jungle either...you're looking at maybe 15 to 20 a day....maybe a helo flying NOE can get us within 4 days

*NOE Nape of Earth= inches above the tree line
Shadow
Yeah my thining was you guys would "borrow" something to help you out. You need to get a vehicle of somekind to help you. All part of the job.
TheOneRonin
Yeah, I was considering "indigenous vehicle acquisition" myself, but that isn't exactly low-profile.

Even dirtbikes and ATVs are loud, and can be heard for miles away.

Trying to get friendly with the natives and getting them to provide transportation isn't a bad idea, but it means THAT many more people know about us being in-country.

So what sort of ideas do you all have?
TheOneRonin
Shadow, I'd like to make a roll for Church's "Geography and Terrain Studies" to see if I can get a good idea of the fastest route to get to the objective from our insertion point. That cool with you?
Shadow
I was thinking a train....
JackRipper
public transportation is for losers man....ha, in my years of playing i've never jacked a train lol. We're going to stick out something serious, unless heavily armed caucasian men regularly use the amtrak in cameroon.
TheOneRonin
Actually, there is a train track that runs right through the center of that map.

Maybe not jack a train, but stow away on it?
Shadow
Ripper you make me smile smile.gif

Actually I was thinking you guys would use those stealth skills and sneak on board. There is bound to be a passenger section of the train, and a cargo section....
JackRipper
You know first class is rarely full
TheOneRonin
<taps microphone> Is this thing on???
JackRipper
or ride on top, as long as it isnt a bullet train
