As the transmission began, Johnson quickly encrypted the connection before accepting the transfer. He then took another second to begin recording a new message to Fortunato as he eased his bike out of the garage. Before sending it through, he made sure to establish another encrypted connection with their already paranoid mage.

Rocky had been surprised at the fact that Higgen's was going to be able to do anything for him. Even if he couldn't go back to his old life at least he would not be looking over his shoulder as often, and the plastic surgery would take it even further, assuming he ever got time to get it. The best part of the deal is it should get the heat off his parents so they could try to get back to a normal life and maybe he could get word to them that he was ok once the heat was off.

He loaded in to the van with Cerberus wondering exactly where they would end up to plan for the mission. The biggest thing for Rocky, was to make sure he didn't accidently kill someone on this run.

Smiling, the girl quickly made her way to the beast of a cruiser. With a silent nod of thanks, she just as quickly strapped on the set out helmet and scarf, knowing that it would be rude to not use them after Sledge had just set them out for her. Finishing, Caittie scrambled onto the back of the bike as the brown haired ex-construction worker ignited the engine, sending a quick roar out.
Once the technomancer was safely mounted on the passenger pad, she balanced herself by putting her hands on Sledge’s waist. “I’m ready, she sent over a private channel. She didn’t receive any real response from the woman in front of her, but the teenager could feel the ork take a deep breath before easily backing the bike out into the street.

The back tire slipped a split second as the engine was gunned again, combined with the popping of the larger females left hand off the clutch. Startled a bit, Caittie leaned forward a bit more and wrapped her arms a little farther around the ork. After a bit though, as Sledge expertly balanced the bike on the way down the street, weaving only slightly to avoid an opened car door, Caittie relaxed her grip. ‘Way different than riding with him’, she mused as she felt the larger engine rumble beneath her.

After a few blocks, the red head decided to finally ask what was on her mind. Taking a breath to organize it in the best way possible, she nodded to herself. Then, on the same private channel from before, she spoke her mind, “Are you ok? You seemed… upset… back there…

Fortunato had whiled away an hour of the afternoon making certain that he was not tailed and then had settled down on a park bench unsure of what to do. He looked at the fake hands staring back at him and felt moved by the spirit to try his disguise on a few unsuspecting passers by. He passed the time lying, skulking and tricking for the fun of it. It was a throwback to younger days. His CIA training had always been hasty and had rarely stuck, he had practiced like this before. The old exercises and tricks took him mind of the multinational conspiracy that had been closing its nets around him. He stopped seeing FBI spies lurking in the shadows conferring with CIA satellites lorded over by Jeffries.

He had worked his way back to his own apartment when Johnson's call brought his focus back to his teammates along with a sharp rise in his level of concern about being observed. Shutting the blinds and sealing the door he started to review the video. The meeting was brief, the agents professional and Cerberus was his usual tactful self. The thought of favors sent Greg's mind spinning. These two were privy to governmental information he could only dream of. He figured that he could have an excellent working relationship with the pair if they weren't out to get him (he imagined that there were a lot of investigations that would be easier with someone of his talents that was largely unaffiliated with them) ... a shame really. He contemplated talking to Lonestar with no middle man as he composed a reply:

<<@Johnson: I'm in, especially if you've got those spells realdy. We should meet someplace private. More private than last time -- We'll want to ditch the network and talk, very frankly, about doing some very incriminating things.

He though about his previous career.

I don't suppose you know anyone who's unaffiliated with our business and owns some kind of back room where we can be unobserved.>>

Johnson stayed quiet. He was interested to see how Sledge handled the suggestion and, quite frankly, enjoyed being relieved of the responsibility of keeping everyone happy - even if it was only a temporary reassignment. Cerberus had a point. Johnson was no Angel, but if he wanted to listen in on a conversation like this, he was pretty sure he could. The question was, would anyone care about what they had to say? Johnson sort of enjoyed double-speaking about business, recently - but at the same time, if Sledge knew of a quiet place to talk, he wouldn't mind having all the facts laid out on the table, for a change.

Before we get into details, some basic tips to fill the air time. Not an expert, but here still, seen both sides. Nothing secure, ever. What is done is make it harder for anyone to mess you up. They like having everyone in one place for pickup, cheaper, easier to send one group to pick up, then one for each. Systems and procedures are designed to flag and catch the stupids. They know who you know or place you like, they watch and send the wagon when you show up. They wait a long time, waste of money, so they stop after while. First time you do anything, freebie, second time, you get countered. Always change what you do, where you go, what you look like, keep you a step ahead. You can go old stuff again, but different way if you need. They never forget you, so even after along time, need to be different.>>

Overall, Johnson was impressed by Sledge's sudden take-charge attitude, but her seeming nonchalance to letting Cerberus walk away over a misunderstanding worried him. He quickly put together a carefully worded message that he hoped would help put him at ease.

<<@Cerberus:: "Take a deep breath, big guy. Sledge isn't setting us up - she was more afraid of the feds than we were. You're probably right, though, your commlink is insecure. Try turning your signal strength to minimum, and forward your messages through the Love Machine. Whoever put that thing together knew what they were doing, and it is going to be a heck of a lot more secure than your commlink. Rocky too, probably. Ask Angel to set it up for you, if you need it. Oh, and just make sure you don't say anything that you wouldn't say if you thought someone might be listening in - we haven't really talked about doing anything wrong, yet, and the only people who have been keeping tabs on us are the ones who want us to do this.">>

If we tip our hands early, during a dry-run, the job will be that much harder, when it is showtime. Right now, we're not prepared to go in, but they're not prepared to stop us - if we give them a heads up, both sides of that coin can change. Also, even though we have two days to pull it off, we should assume we have one try - not two. if we fuck up the first try so bad that we need a second one, we've probably lost something or someone that will invalidate whatever plan we put together, ahead of time. Does that make sense?">>

Johnson was a little bit distracted, while driving and talking on the phone at the same time.

<<@Team:: "Since you both mentioned gear, I'll work on that, and anything else Sledge says we need, but what is our budget? Just whatever is on those credsticks? Or do we all want to agree to gamble a little of our savings accounts to up our odds at getting these favors?">>

Another turn demanded his attention.

<<@Team:: "I also think getting in and out becomes harder, the more of us we bring along. I think 'getting in' falls under Sledge's department, so I'll leave it up to her to decide who she wants underfoot, but knowing how many people I should plan for the escape will be important. From my point of view, if you're not handling demolitions or carrying bodies, you probably shouldn't be on-site.">>

His point, during his last comment was a little bit veiled, but he hoped he got the idea across. If Sledge got his meaning, and agreed, she would say as much - but if nobody else had thought of it, he didn't want it going unsaid. The finale of their previous mission had been a prime example of the sort of situation that he would expect some people to be more 'baggage' than 'help', but since his intention was to see them all in action, and see the job done (at whatever expense) he didn't mind so much, then. This new mission was different, in his eyes, at least. There was a certainly a point where it was not worth the risk, although that bar seemed to be set fairly high by whatever promises Higgens had made.

Cerberus listened to the brainstorming session and decided to add his thoughts to, "I think as far as gear goes, we should definately make sure we have a MAD scanner and area jammer as powerful as we can get so we can locate the corpses and keep the guard on duty from radio'ing out on our initial entry in case we cant take him out fast enough. I think once inside we will just need some shovels and picks. Picks just in case there is a layer of cement. I think we should just steal or buy a cheap van for the insertion and rent a refridgerated truck to actually hold the bodies because they will be ripe. Other than that some places to stay would be good."

"As far as insertion and extraction, I think the two biggest problems we will face is the guard, specifically if he has to make check in's, and the place has to have every square inch covered in cameras from offsite considering that the whole building got taken out before. The camera's are going to be extremely tough to overcome, magic is the only way i can think of. Thats going in, coming out lets assume under a worst case scenario is that whole sec team gets dropped on our heads, are we going to commit to non-lethal force? When and who would decide if we can start using lethal force. I have to imagine my IWK would help clear a path or help an escape. If we go non-lethal I'd really like to get my hands on a grenade launcher and load it up with smoke and stun grenades."

"If and when we do get out of there with our packages I think we should scan the headware asap and then meet up with the refridgerator and move the bodies and ditch the van, everyone else can take the love machine back to the hideout while somebody with a bike drives the corpses to a nuetral location stashes it and then meets up with the rest back at the hideout. I really don't think we should carry the corpses in the love machine lol."

"As far as recom goes I dont know how I can help out there I stick out like a sore thumb, I'd rather help out getting all the gear we think we need. As far as money, I wasnt expecting to get any of it unless there is some left over somehow, but as far as pitching in from our own bank accounts mine is on zero unless anyone knows somebody willing to risk hacking the money out of a frozen account, even if they want 50/50 I had 1800+ on my old SIN."

Cerberus went back to his thoughts, If a person's goal is to not get caught does using non lethal force really help? It only helps if you get caught and then they can tell the judge how you werent trying to kill anybody. If you truly didnt want to get caught though you would make those mother fuckers fear for their lives and think two or three times about moving in on your or trying to corner you. That's what the cops do, they use the threat of force to get compliance, if the bad guys didnt have to worry about getting hurt why would they comply. Why the hell would any security force give you any room at all if you were only tossing water balloons at them. If I use lethal force though and still get caught I would be extremely screwed, I'd be screwed anyways though as soon as they find my cyber. "Nope, doesnt sound like it. I dont know about you but I'm not really into prep work anyways, I wanna be knee deep in action, that might not be the smartest philosphy for a shadowrunner but thats my nature. So are you still wanting to get that facial reconstruction done asap or do you wanna hold off until after this job? You might get to inherit the love machine and do whatever you want, I just got a message from Higgins and Lowell and they are getting my bike released."

"Hey you want Rocky and me to go get some locations set up? We just need a couple of motel rooms for maybe four days? Thats like what 800 nuyen. Maybe another location for after the run so like another 800, or maybe 1600 for a hotel. We have enough cash on hand to take care of that but we want paid back. That way those of us that dont have that much to do can chill out and wait and not be driving all over town in a vehicle we have no business being in..."

"I've got 2,000 of the 2400 we might need and I know you couldnt have possably blown your wad yet lol. You dont have any problems frontin some money do you until we hook back up with Johnson?"

"Yeah I got cash to cover some rooms for a while." Rocky digs in to his pockets just to make sure it was still where he left it. It would suck to not have it when it was needed. Flipping through it he saw he had enough to easily cover what Cerberus couldn't.

"If they really have nothing else that we need to do, getting the ball rolling on my makeover would be good. And don't worry, I know what you mean about the planning stuff. Thats why I had a manger to take care of all that shit. I trained, I showed up at the fights, I beat dudes and made sure I made to the press events sober." Rocky smiled at that, "Well at least close to sober. Anything beyond that my manager took care of. Anyways, its not like any of the others actually expect us to be able to do anything more than hit and shoot shit. Why change that? It could come in handy someday down the road, you know what I mean chummer?"

"Yeah I sure do. I think the advantages of being a troll far outweight any racism or stereotypes. Let em think we are just big dumb brutes. ...Hey since you are bringing up the whole sober thing...thats something I could never get into once i got into martial arts and fighting. How did you get mixed up in it, and what kind of shit do you get into? Haha you dont have to answer if you do not want to, I don't really know how to ask in a more polite manner. Did you suffer some kinda injury and get hooked or just like to party to hard? You dont seem as bad as a couple of days ago. If you need any moral support I'll help you out. If I was gonna over indulge in something it would hands down be BTL porn though holy shit!!! I just really hate the thought of using drugs to altar my brain so that it can have fun, if you have to do that is it really worth it? Can you even remember those experiences? Im probably really boring to most people but i've been happy for the most part until here recently."

Rocky thought about Cerberus question for a few seconds before he decided to answer. It was odd, he had only talked about his problem once, and that was the night his life fell apart.

"Well, being sober and what got me in to this mess are actually really two different things. If I'm out to party, which believe me I did my share after I started winning fights. I'm usually good with the old school alcohol, developed a taste for the good stuff. I had to keep my drinking limited, which was usually right after a fight and maybe the next night, but then it was back to the routine, getting ready for what ever my manager had set up for me next. Which oddly enough was never a problem for me." He stopped again, but figured what the hell, a little help from someone might help him kick the habit that much faster, and at least Cerberus would understand the long term pain that comes from fighting.

"The reason I'm here with you right now and not enjoying being the world champ is I got a problem with pain killers. I started taking them after fights so I could go out and party and such. And well one thing led to another and then I needed them even when I wasn't hurting. Then I needed to take them or I would start hurting. The addiction just fed its self from there, and well while I don't think they made a difference in my last fight, the fight commission and Japanese government probably wouldn't have felt that way, so here we are. I've been trying to fight the craving, but its a real bitch some days. The last few have been ok, but I'm guessing this weekend could start to suck. But even if I have to start over, I'm going to make sure it doesn't keep me from being able to cover my part, what ever it is for the weekends job."

Mentioning the job brought Rocky to a sudden stop with could only be described as a look of fear on his face, getting very serious he asked Cerberus a very direct question. "Your not recording this? RIGHT?"

"Dont worry bro.......I will split whatever I make off selling it to the tabloids 60/40 with you...." Cerberus kept his face straight for as long as he could before bursting out into laughter. "Ok I did just snap a picture of your face so you could see the expression on your face just now! Don't worry I only record business related stuff, in case I have to hunt people down or just to augment my memory, and hot women. I hope and pray I never sink low enough to have to exploit others just to get by, I'd rather get a shit job and make lowsy pay than rat out other people and kick people when they are down. And besides I told you that I owe you for saving me back at the clinic, it probably would have taken me a few more seconds longer to kick those guys' asses solo." Cerberus let out another big laugh, "Hey seriously, you want me to video capture a few minnutes of your face before you get it reconstructed. That way you can always carry it with you or something?"

Johnson's reply went first to the team, <<@Team:: "I'm with Fort on the jammer. Great idea if things go bad and we need to cut off their communications, but otherwise it is going to announce that something is going down - same goes for opening up with a machine gun. Unless we're expecting a full security team to air-drop in the middle of our mission, it seems like lugging that thing around, along with the bodies, is just going to slow us down. If we get to the point where we need it, we've already lost. As for the guard. I want to hear some ideas where he still gets to see his kids come home from school on Monday - but I won't know how best to deal with him, until someone gets more information on what he does as part of his job.">>

Next, he addressed Cerberus's last idea. <<@Cerberus "Yeah, that would be great. If you guys have the cash, that would free up some of my time to focus on gear, and I'll make sure you guys get paid back for the rooms, when we meet back up. If you have any questions, I should be online the whole time.">>

<<@team:: My turn. Have till midnight sunday, that's the scheduled turnover time, so we need to be out before then. Tonight we start looking for GSSI Ground penetration radar sensor equipment or seismology gear, Husqvarna or Matsushita 75 cm Concrete saw w/extra blades, forklift or lift rated at 2,000 kilos, may have the lift already in the basement, if not we need to bring one, heavy duty power drills, cement eye hooks, 50 meters spool of high strength 2 ton test ceramsteel cabling, industrial waste bags, 20 liters industrial cleaner, duct tape, shovels and picks for dirt digging, wheel barrow, probably one there already, food and water, maybe some long haul or meth stims, hard hats, gloves, breathers or masks, boots, working clothes. Fortunato and Angel can check the place out their way before we go in. I know the place, no need to eyeball unless there's something in particular we want to check before we go in. Maybe Fortunato can help there if we need to be sure. Angel and me dummy up a work order, Sugar Lips, me and the trogs dress up, bring the gear, and we pull the last minute fix routine. Always need fixing last minute on these jobs. Sugar Lips pulls the engineer in vut story, pick a legit contractor already in system as our cover, sending a crew in to fix his mess routine on the guard. Me and the trogs do the crew working OT on the weekend to cover his mistake. Looks like sewage pipe pressure check showing a leak in a spot we need to rip some floor up. No one likes broken sewage pipes. Smell bad. Bad smells and dust keep guard out of way, explain why we got the gear, rush job. Then we run scans, we got four spots to scan, take an hour each one, need GPR to get through 30 cm concrete floor, when we find we start cutting and pulling out 2000 kilo concrete blocks, might need to do smaller blocks if we don't have enough lift. Then we start digging the dirt out. Couple hours cutting, maybe an hour digging. Find what we need, then we leave, carrying our waste bags. We run like a real crew doing a real job. No way to cut down on site time easily. Could crack the floor with charges, but we'd still need to lift the floor, dig the dirt, won't take less then an hour, and the charges, after the last time, someone in UW seismology will hit panic button. Not on crew, you be lookout, take shifts to be alert. we have any trouble finding spot, might need to dig 4 holes, means saturday and sunday shifts. Tonight bar time good time to find some loose contractor gear, maybe even a truck. Most contractors get ARO signs for truck fleet, can dress up Love Machine that way too. Jammer be good we need to pull out in hurry. Mostly we got to look and act like a real crew, this building downtown, the Star got eyes everywhere, they can come real quick. Best they not see anything strange. So?>>

Fortunato was breathed shallowly as he chalked a delicately curved Sperenthiel character on the wall. His coat lay on the bed and his sleeves were rolled up. He hadn't yet changed out of this morning's flats.

He stood up and wiped his face the looked despairingly at the rest of the room. He had a long way to go. While waiting it struck him that, although the last time he'd tried to bind anything it had ended very poorly it might be time to try again. His life was on the line either way.

He leaned into the next character and spoke into the commlink sitting on the side of the bed:

<<@Johnson: It'd be nice if you could scare up some extra materials for me. Specifically I need some old snake skins, a live canary (or other small bird, whatever's cheap will do), a hand carved whistle and the attached list of incense and more standard supplies.>>

Thinking a moment he added.

<<@Johnson: I could also use a new business caliber SIN, I like to keep personal and private lives separate. This one's not urgent though.>>

<<@Fortunato:: "I'm planning to look into your last magical order, tonight. I'll add this to the list. You sure you wouldn't rather I just put you in touch with a talismonger, and you hand-pick the stuff yourself? I don't have a very good eye for... skin. The SIN sounds good, though - I'll be talking to my ID guy soon enough, it looks like. Since yours is personal, expect a bill.">>

He then put the team's conversation into another channel on his commlink, so that his voice no longer went out to them, and opened up a new connection to Nym's messaging-service. At the sound of the tone, he left his message. <<@Nym:: "I had hoped to manage a little longer before needing your services again, but I suppose that means more business for you. If you're interested, get back in touch with me. I've got a rush order that I need an estimate for, and I think I can make it worth your time....">>

After leaving his message, Johnson switched back to the team conversation.

"I'll ride along wherever, unless you don't want me to go", the elf replied back to the woman in front of her. "It's not like I really have anywhere to be right now", she continued with a slight tinge of mirth.
"I'm planning on checking out what type of security they have, unless anyone has a problem with that. As for the actuall event, I'm not going to be anywhere near it. I can handle my magic from afar... That is, barring anything out of the ordinary", she messaged out to the team. <<@Team:: "Sounds good, just be careful. I'm hoping you have a lot more to do before the job, than during, and there is a lot of information that you might be able to find, that we need. Think you could fake together a message informing the guard on duty that we're coming? Our cover won't have to be nearly as tight if he's not suspicious because he was given plenty of advanced notice by someone he trusts. Otherwise, maybe compromise any connections he might use to check our credentials - then when we need to, we just green-light ourselves in. I have no idea how secure that place is, you'll have to be the judge of that, yourself, but anything you can do, to make that part of the job easier, will probably save us a lot of money in last-minute construction-permits, waste-disposal clearances, vehicle registrations and fraudulent company affiliations.">> His voice took on a humorous tone, clearly indicating that he was smiling while finishing his comment. <<@Team:: "Also, see if you can let me know how that goes, before I go purchasing all of those things.">>

<<@Team:: "Sledge, does all of that sound like stuff we need? Is that the sort of stuff we would bring to a job, like this - and expect to have it double-checked? Or would the guard just wave us past if he bought our story, and assume we would have our ducks-in-a-row if he asked for them?">>

<<@Team:: "Okay, I just set up a meeting with a guy to talk about new IDs.">> Johnson partially wanted everyone to be aware that work on the mission, had begun - perhaps to signal anyone still waiting for explicit direction to begin. <<@Team:: "Anyone who is going to need them, needs to come with me - I want to get this done right away, because I want the majority of big purchases to be done with this new ID, as soon as it arrives. So, I'm assuming I am going to need a pretty decent one, if I'm playing foreman. What about the other three? Think it fits our cover if they don't have fake IDs? Or would it be less suspicious if they had bad ones? I'm inclined to cover our bases, and see if we can get them, even if we don't need them.">> He turned his bike away, no longer trying to follow Sledge's. It didn't matter, since he knew, by now, that it wasn't going anywhere in particular. Instead, he needed to make good time to Dirty Dick's.

<<@Fortunato:: "Looks like I'm going to be meeting, regarding SINs, sooner than I thought. If you want a good one, why don't you meet me there, before you get too busy tonight. The guy is going to want to talk to you, and will need your biometrics - but he does good work, and fast. Rocky was about to reply to Cerberu's outlook on things when the team channel came alive with people outlining plans and getting things moving. He listened quietly waiting to see how things would shape up.

Friday 8/22/70 17:37:14

When Johnson mentioned the need for the additional Biometric data for the new ID's Rocky opted to speak up.

<<@Johnson: You using the same contact that got you my new ID a few days back? IF so, he should still have the bio data that way Cerberus and I can get the rooms taken care of like he mentioned earlier. Let us know. >>

Shot down twice. Johnson decided he had better check on the terms. <<@Nym:: "One is for me, and I'll be there. Another two might be for the same guys as last time. You need them to come? Possibly two more. New data. Busy folks, though. It a problem if only one or two can make it, tonight?">> It felt terribly unprofessional, but it probably wouldn't hurt to ask. The truth of the matter was that any preparations that the team was making for the mission were way more important than jumping through hoops to satisfy Nym's curiosity - except for the fact that Nym was the only guy Johnson knew that might be able to handle a rush-job like this with any competence. Hopefully he could be sated by being introduced to at least one new personality.

<<@Team:: "Checking on the exact 'terms' of this arrangement. Sledge, you down for a quick meet and greet? Half hour to an hour, tops. Greasing the wheels of productivity.">> Johnson hoped it wouldn't run much longer than that. He had to meet with Deerwalker in two. <<@Team:: "Hell, Angel if you want to come, you're invited.">>

Johnson hadn't changed course, though. Even if nobody else could come, he needed Nym to get started on his new ID right away - like, last week. As it was, he wasn't even sure that Nym could help him out in the timeframe he needed.
