there's also that one depressing movie, Jin-Roh.

Didn't get to see that one. Just finished Witch Hunter Robin a while ago and haven't gotten around to starting up anything else (course, having to fight with the wife to spend money on nearly anything doesn't help either).

Man, how could I forget those....Witch Hunter Robin rocks, as does Samurai Champloo....and I completely forgot one of the first animes I ever saw and it rocked so much...Ninja Scroll!!!!!!

Samurai Champloo I can take or leave and I haven't seen Ninja Scroll (yes, I know, I'm deprived).

Witch Hunter Robin makes for a great SR storyline though, with the proper modifications. Works especially well with this Myths in Miami story. Trick is determining which side of the Hunt you're going to be on, that Blue Lady makes a pretty tempting target (or foe...)

ok guys, wandering far a field here. Bring it back or let it go.

I cannot believe that a thread started about a story like this one turned into an anime discussion. [shakes head]
Kyoto Kid
...I agree. That story is still haunting to me.

Normally this sort of thing doesn't get to me, but this did for some reason. It may be a decade old, but it says alot.

All kidding aside, I didn't find the mythology they came up with that interesting. It's an amalgamation from all kinds of different sources, and that gives it some interest, but it's not any more complex than many other childhood mythologies (though it is more detailed). There's little uncertainty, no moral ambiguity, just a self-assurance that they are special and that their actions affect the larger world. It's your standard youthful wrapping around magical thinking.

Heh. That would be funny. A group of kids running around in the Barrens with their own Wendigo orchestrating them.

nyuk nyuk...
