QUOTE (Meriss)
@Marghos: who do you wish to talk to first? or are you just fishing?

Edit: Hehehe, oooopsies biggrin.gif Forgot Karma, 4 Karma to all for some excellent RP.

I'll think that first Marty will write and send a note both Sir Edward Woodward (this company guy and family friend (L 2/C 3) and Basil Channing (Bobby the Streetcop: L 3/C 1) meeting and talkin should to be next morning/day, then he will go to home and rest only a little (sustenanse) time with his lovely wife, he will also check these bullets he got before and after these he will go fishing.

First. Marty will make some inquiries about these adresses we got. Buildings, floorplans, security and possible sewers (places to go when searching knowledge: Town hall/City techical department(?)/Library and contacts)

Second. Peoples who lives in these given adressess. (Places to go with these inquires: City hall, Library, News magacines, Church, contacts)

Fishing: Marty will do some low profile inquiries about our belowed employer. (contacts both sir Edward and Basil, knowledgeskills)

So what skills and rolls?
Charisma 4 + kinesics 3 + influence skillgroup 2 +/- ???

QUOTE
Han's going to go home and chase the dragon for a little while, get some sleep, practice his kung fu, and then meet up with everyone at the appointed time and place. He's not really a "legwork" kind of guy.

QUOTE (Meriss)
You are one "meta-team" right now.

I like that. Very ..diplomatic.
And including an inherent anagram.

QUOTE (Meriss)
I got a reaction, but not the one I expected. And we stalled hard. I'm sorry, mea culpa what ever.

For your consolation, I'm quite sure that we had already stalled hard before your suggestion (took us only few posts to bash it down and then realize that we're still stuck).

QUOTE (GMeriss IC)
Finally after much bantering and wrangling, the new team of "mutual associates" return to their respective sleeping arrangements.

Certainly not the most elegant resolve for our teambuilding discussion problem, but efficient nevertheless.
Looks like *gasp* we can actually leave the initial meet and move on to the second day now, after only 1 month of playtime.
Let's hope we'll survive this murderously insane speed and not break apart from the sudden shock of acceleration...

QUOTE (Meriss)
Tell me your leg work plans and whether you want them IC or OOC.

Sure.
Alexander will visit the Library and, with the help of his contact there, compile info on the White Star Lines and their ships, especially The African Star.
Afterwards he'll get his cabbie to drive him around the 4 target locations for a thorough scientific observation.

GM only spoiler!

QUOTE (myself @ 1 week ago)
On a related note:
What about Lex managing the money? So far Han, St.North and Spencer agreed (Dorn accepted the proposal as well), no word from the remaining 4. It's still lying on the table and we should reach an agreement here as well before we leave.

*cough*

@Zen: I (Or Dr. Seb. biggrin.gif) have no objections to you holding the money.

That leaves 3 gents to retroactively decide on that matter.

fistandantilus4.0
For Alex and me, I'm thinking of scouting the locations, and seeing if we can get a gander at an of the inhabitants. Any ideas on how to swing that Alex?
ludomastro
Jacob is a PI, so he would have reasons to move around. We could throw out the idea of investigating mysterious goings on in the area. We need an IC post to get the characters together.
Meriss
Give a body a few minutes. biggrin.gif

Edit: Alex who do you want to talk to first?
ludomastro
Let's take a look at the Baker's. Oh, and I assume that Jacob has some idea of what plans he was able to get from the friendly folks at the planning office?
Meriss
Sorry alex, Not as on top of things as I should be. Jacob got fully detailed plans for all four addresses, including sewage, electricty, and comm lines. Also forgot to mention it earlier, there was a 200 pound "filling fee"

You said you wanted to talk to your street contacts, which one first? Or did you want the scans out of the way?
ludomastro
I'm thinking general scans first. Then specifics from the street contacts.
Meriss
Alright by me. Posting you calling on Spence.

@Gaslampers: I am assuming all of you exchanged contact info. Please speak up if you didn't want to give that out.

Edit: @All: Zen brought up an excellent point is one of his spoilers. Edge. Edge refreshes every In Game Day. Except if you do not get a solid six hours. (and yes I will be doing this vegm.gif )

@marghos: I figured Basil First then Woodward, since Woodward is more likely to keep "gentleman's hours" ie late mornings and evenings.
Fresno Bob
Oh, I have no problem with Lex handling the money.

As for how Bismarck spends his two days, I suppose he'll case the addresses and look for anything unusual around them.
ZenZen

Oh, I have no problem with Lex handling the money.

Check. Check.
That leaves only TEBO now.
I can already see all the fights that will erupt over distributing the meta-team-money that Lex will have to face now... *sigh*

QUOTE (Meriss)
@Gaslampers: I am assuming all of you exchanged contact info. Please speak up if you didn't want to give that out.

*speaks up* Unless there is some sort of non(or at least hard)-traceable way of communication in our cabled world (suggestions appreciated) then Lex won't have compromised his legal life yet, knowing that he'll meet the others in 2 days anyway.

QUOTE (Meriss)
Edge refreshes every In Game Day. Except if you do not get a solid six hours.

Are you talking about six hours of sleep? What about Adepts with Sustenance (or mundanes with Sleep Regulator Bioware, for that matter)?

@Meriss
Before I answer IC:
Horace Peabody? Is this a deliberate attempt to confuse me by introducing other librarians that share his first name or just some weird namewarping that will be edited out as soon as you read this (hint: my contacts last name is Argyle)?

That leaves only TEBO now.

I didn't object in character, so why should I now? Oh right, to be difficult... no, the dwarf having the money is all good. This way the group can get Bismark or Han to literally 'shake him down' by his ankles when they want it, which is always fun.

Also, what's the 'T' for?

@Meriss: Now I have find a test to use my edge on before I go to sleep! And now I have 10 whole Karma, what are the chances of saying that my glitched roll and dealing with this lot caused my etiquette to increase?

If I can manage it, I'll visit contacts tonight, especially Tom Squire. How much to bribe a cabby to not record a passenger or trip?

Speaking ofvisiting Tom I'm thinking that with the proliferation of the steam locomotive and it taking over from canal boats as a major form of transportation that the canalside warehouses are largely abondoned and constitute the slum areas. What do you think?
ZenZen
QUOTE
no, the dwarf having the money is all good. This way the group can get Bismark or Han to literally 'shake him down' by his ankles when they want it, which is always fun.

Especially when he returns shortly afterwards to return the favour. biggrin.gif

Seriously: that's about the third dwarf joke so far, guess that's the price to pay for playing the only meta in this round (no, Critias, sporting pointy ears doesn't qualify).

QUOTE
Also, what's the 'T' for?

ork.gif Always happy to help a chummer unearth his deeply repressed memories to put them through all the mental pain again.
The answer you didn't look for is: Trini.
Meriss
@DEBO: What? I'd say if you don't need Edge don't use it (Save it for something more lethal devil.gif ) And yes dealing with and learning from mistakes is an excellent IC reason to pump stats. Go ahead.

@Zen: Mail is fairly untraceable. You just use General Delivery. Most Posmasters don't remember all their customers.

Namewarp editing

[ Spoiler ]

@All: Yes edge refreshes if you get six hours of sleep *sigh* apparently more than I'm getting.

Adepts and Bioware do not affect this.
DuckEggBlue Omega
I'm going to get attacked in the 4½ hours between leaving the meeting and going to sleep? I hope I get bonus Karma for that.

Excellent.

Rules Question: Do specialisations disappear if a base skill exceeds them, or are they always the base skill plus 2? I can't find rules on increasing specialisations, so wishful thinking has me hoping they increase automatically when you boost a base skill.

Ofcourse looking at the rules reveals so many OTHER options - increasing stats is ridiculously cheap compared to increasing skills.

@ZenZen: I told you, it's "Initre".

QUOTE
Seriously: that's about the third dwarf joke so far, guess that's the price to pay for playing the only meta in this round (no, Critias, sporting pointy ears doesn't qualify).

2nd by my count, and it's not as if the "HAWT elf chick" hasn't gotten his fair share.
Meriss
@DEBO: I suppose I can arrange a minor mugging, if you really want to spend some edge. Up to you.

Rules answer: eh? Lemme take this to more learned mind then mine.
DuckEggBlue Omega
You're the GM. It honestly wouldn't bother me either way as I can see both benefits and drawbacks. If Arthur's residence isn't too far from Tom's (which I'm guessing is the case Tom being a local), Arthur will probably walk back to his house, and it perhaps is not the best area... if that sways your decision either way.
Meriss
@DEBO: Answer to the Specialization question. It would seem as though the spec is always there as a bonus to your dice rolls.

@Voorhees: Working on your IC post right now.

@Critias Do you need an IC or will "Han spends two days in normal activities" suffice?

marghos
@Meriss:
While talkin to Basil Martin uses his known powers (like kinesics) and of course negotiation with judge intentions so he's sure about Basil's loyalty but still he will not fuck up his longtime friend/brother.

lets see what I'm rolling or do I roll anything...
If
Roll:
Judge intentions 8 + kinesics 3 = 11 die +/- GM modifiers
Judge intentions 8 + 3 kinesics = 11 die (4, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 2, 2, 3, 2, 2 = 0 hits O_O)
I'll use edge (and roll bad luck first)
Bad luck edge roll: (1d6=1) This I call bad luck frown.gif. So edge is used but results are opposite.

- - - -
Negotiation/
Charisma 4 + kinesics 3 + influence skillgroup (negotiations) 2 = 9 die +/- GM modifiers
cha 4 + influence group 2 + kinesics 3 = 9 die (5, 6, 4, 1, 2, 3, 2, 3, 3 = 2 hits)
Meriss
@Marghos: I took your rolls and twisted my IC a bit. Everyone's reactions are a bit skewed (At least as Marty sees them) A highly stressful conversation containing a very normal set of reactions. Thanks for the fun! vegm.gif

@Gaslampers: Alright I'll come clean. I've been sitting on a peice of OOC info that might help you guys get a bit more into the world. Edward Peirce is in fact a real person. He is the man known to all of England (during the eighteeenth century) as the one who made the biggest pull in the land. For more details on Master Peirce I suggest reading "The Great Train Robbery" by Micheal Crichton. Suprise! vegm.gif

@Alex and Fist: Excellent RP both of you, take an extra Karma and CSP. If you two are done chatting, did you want me to move you along?
ludomastro
I'm game for moving along. How 'bout you there fist?
marghos
@Meriss: No problemo, I'll try to do same again whenever its possible wink.gif

Karma and its usage:
All this karma Martin now have, I'll think that he will use his free time to trying figure out how the hell hes forgot all about how to navigate, and in the same time he will try to learn navigate again, like he did in the army time. So Martin will have new active skill: navigation 1, sometime in near future.

Let's roll.
Meriss
@Marghos: Sounds good to me.

@Alex and Fist: Kay working. Molsons first right?

@Rest: I did post ICs for everyone except Critias (who said that Han is not the legwork type) and DEBO (PM gameing till he's ready to post IC). Feel free to jump onboard.

Edit: Alex roll me a Investigative methods to find a nice alley.
Fist, logic roll for same.
marghos
@Meriss: After this meeting with Basil, Martin will go to city hall, maybe in OOC, hes looking for some info about these buildings, layouts and floorplans with security, maybe info about sewers. Then he checks these buildings location on maps and those security co./police locations this because he would love to know how long it takes to police or security co. to come in place, if alarm should go off.

After this he quickly visit home and changes clothes, not so casual anymore. Dark suit and all, if hes gonna meet this company guy, this Sir Edward Woodward.
Critias
Back from DragonCon, and should be back onto my normal amount-of-time-spent-on-line schedule starting tonight.

And, yes. I'm fine with Han just getting a "Han does normal Han stuff for a few days" post, like I said two or three times in order to minimize the disruption caused by my temporary absence. wink.gif

@DEBO Hmm do not gross the line here! And you may watch your next steps very, very carefully you are on very slippery surface. cool.gif Do not mock Martin and his wife's lifestyle untill you have tried it yourself. wink.gif
But seriously was there something that mislead you to think someting hmm beautifull and maybe littlebit nasty... I'll hope that you know what I meant by that post or do I have to think that you know everything about these kind of activities wink.gif
Meriss
@DEBO: Which one? the last one I got was this. Spoilered for breveity (Others no peeking)

[ Spoiler ]
DuckEggBlue Omega
That's the one. I was reading through another thread and someone mentioned PM's weren't working at the moment so I thought I'd check.

@Marghos: Oh, I know what you meant, wink wink, say no more, say no more!

Seriously - though I was fairly certain there was no hidden meaning to what Martin was saying, the wink, potentially puts a different meaning on things. I blame Monty Python.
ZenZen
Time to catch up on things:

QUOTE (Meriss IC for Spence)
Spending the morning calmly and rationally trying to peice together last nights events, Spence comes to the conclusion that all of the men he met were highly dangerous and extremely well versed in the area of criminal endevours.

Heh. This had me chuckling....
Lex and 'highly dangerous'? Maybe... but Lex and 'well versed in the area of criminal endevours'? No. Just no.

2 from you, yes, but let's not neglect Critias again. He mentioned dwarf-chasing first.
But good to know you're counting too.

*really big grin spreading on face* Thanks for the reminder on The Hot Chick Rule™ though. Still has me chuckling. ME-OW!

QUOTE (EBO)

You just do that. But I won't be the one to mop up your smeared remains when The Great Foot From The Sky comes down upon you to exact his divine squashing justice.

@Meriss:
First of all: sorry for the posting delay, I'll try to atone.
QUOTE (Meriss)
@Zen: Mail is fairly untraceable. You just use General Delivery. Most Posmasters don't remember all their customers.

True, that (although they might remember the dwarf with the messy, grey-patched hair).
But GD still needs some sort of ID to be presented, and he only got his 'Dorn' one. But if he gave away his full name to his (not yet trusted this far) teammates, then he might as well give them the address to his home as well, as his shop is registered with that ID and thus easily found (telephone book or address register or whatever).

Regarding my librarian contact: I initially wanted him to be from the Brititish Library (BL), but as that didn't exist until a century later (at least in our timeline), I went with The British Museum instead, as this held the major part of the collection that would become the BL. So don't be confused about the 'museum' part.

About Lex's shop: It's "YE Shoppe of Mechanical Aides and Devices", although "Shop of Curiousities" certainly is a fitting description.

[ Spoiler ]
Meriss
@Zen: Glad you liked it. To be fair Spence (from IMs with Fist) is a completely new runner. So he sees things differently than the rest of you do. One of the things I'm trying to do is present London differently to each of you. Thus Lex sees the world differently than Spence, hopeully.

Edit: You have essentially all the info you could ever want on the White star lines. Roll Logic + intuition the seperate the wheat from the chaff. The Times article is minimal and spoilered below. I'm retconing the ships name to be in line with the naming conventions of the White Star Lines.

@DEBO: ooopsies embarrassed.gif I'm the one who is holding up the PM chain. Working.

@Marghos: Kay roll me an extended Negotiation test. Intervel is two rolls Threshold is a secret. Mods are +1 to THR if you uses force or threats, -1 if you have a potential good reason. (ie National security) Roll dem bones!
Fresno Bob
So is it the Regency Warehouse thats on the docks where Bismarck is, or the White Star Lines?
Meriss
@Voorhees: The Regency warehouse. The White Star Lines is an actual office in the downtown core.
Fresno Bob
Roger. Doesn't really change my post though, I guess.
marghos
@Meriss: Roget that. I'll roll them bones. rock'n roll those bones...

Martin will use his military trainin' and tries to use that in backbone of his "performance" which includes by the way something about national security, those nasty frogs (france) and off course the Queen and the Country.

Except that guy was more a move-by-wire-4 cyber-zombie ninja than the walking battleship that is Bismarck. Ofcourse now that you've brought it up, "gas mask and cyberedness", I can't help thinking of Darth Vader, no offence.
Fresno Bob
Logic 4 + Engineering 3 test

6, 6, 5, 4, 1, 3, 6. 5 Hits.

Figures my 6s waste themselves checking out a warehouse, as opposed to you know, not dying or something.

As for Bismarck being based on something, I'm not going to argue his aesthetic is original by any means. Yeah, theres Darth Vader, but mostly I modeled him after the German soldiers in WW1. I probably would have given him a flamethrower too, had there been rules for them in SR4.

And Kroenen is much faster than how I envision Bismarck working, which is to chug forward, absorb gunshots and blows, and then tear his opponents limb from limb.
Meriss
@Gaslampers: Guys you'll have to forgive me I've been preetty busy and stuff. Sorry.

Okay. *sigh* Back to the coal mines then?

@Zen: If you feel you're done and ready to move on. Go ahead, where are you bound next? You can try again if you wish, Horace might be able to find the real stuff this time.

@Voorhees: IC posting. And I utterly forgot. Roll a Perception for me please.

@marghos: Does Sir Woodward have any quircks or kinks to play with?

QUOTE (Meriss)
@marghos: Does Sir Woodward have any quircks or kinks to play with?

@Meriss: Nothing quircks or kinks that I'm, or could I say Martins not aware of, but if you can invent some, thats fine for me and Martin.

@marghos: if you want to make it OOC, I don't mind. I was just trying to puzzle Woodward's mind set out.
