Jacob lets out a low shrill whistle.

What does

Woot! It was either that or some guy who holds the Canadian patent for a "METHOD OF COVERING A BASE SURFACE WITH DECORATIVE TILES".
Damn! I knew I forgot to add a certain background knowledge...you got me there.

Times like this I wish dumpshock had a user based karma system.
Just write it down and apply when you GM a game for me.

Regarding names. I guessed 'Doppler' was related to the scientist, only I wasn't sure how it related to drones, but in light of the music (sound waves) theme, it makes sense. As for 'Hieronymus Graf von', it wouldn't come from Hieronymus Graf von Colloredo, acknoledged as the first patron of Mozart, would it? I think I'll leave the rest of his families first names, they could come from anywhere.
I take it then that you gave up on finding the primary and secondary (read: important) reasons for 'Alexander N.(athaniel) Dorn'?
Regarding the other stuff:
I wanted an (slightly) aristocratic background and I just happened to choose the title 'Graf' (sounds better than 'Herzog', 'Freiherr' etc.).
The first names all start with the same gender-specific letter
Heinrich,
Hieronymus,
Hagen for the male line,
Johanna and
Josephine for the female. Seems to be an important aspect for the parents...[all the names are 'normal' for the era, most of them old-fashioned from our point of view (in time).]

Son of a... I have no idea where I got that extra 2 thousand from. This is one of those "but my character wouldn't have made that mistake!" moments.
Just be glad I didn't write that in cyan (was
really considering it)...

Now I can barely speak English. *sigh*
At least your victorian age gangster slang still works fine.
And now for something completely different:
Every time money comes up, the numbers seem to be way off the scale for victorian era pound sterling. I can accept that money value is different in your alternate universe, yet paying £5000 per month for a medium lifestyle feels just wrong (even considering the ridiculously high rents in 2007s London).

Heeding your request:
(improved stylistic consistency over pm version)
Casting Spell: Analyze Truth
Force: 4 (max possible without overcasting)
Target: myself
Here goes: Magic (spellcasting part): 4 + Spellcasting: 4 + Detection Specialization: 2 = 10 dice
->[3,3,2,5,2,1,5,1,4,3] Geh, only 2 hits.
(
rolled)
Drain: F4/2=2 Wil 6 + Log 5 (forgot about +2 dice for fetish restriction)= 11 dice
->[2,3,1,4,3,1,5,4,6,1,5] 3 hits, enough for zero drain.
(
rolled)
Obviously the 'muffler' interfered with my 'vocal stress analyzer' *cough*I want more hits*cough*
Going to drop the first and cast again ...err, filter out the noise by increasing gain and compensating the sinus modulated...you get the point.
Casting Spell: Analyze Truth (2nd try)
Force: 7 (overcasting for increased hit cap)
Target: myself
Mag 4 + Spellcasting 4 + spec 2 = 10 dice
[6,6,5,5,2,4,2,2,3,5]->Sweet, 5 hits this time [glad I raised the force].
(
rolled)
Drain F7/2 round down = 3
Wil 6 + Log 5 + fetish restriction 2 = 13 dice
[4,2,4,4,6,2,3,6,2,4,1,4,4]->Unlucky, lousy 2 hits means 1P drain. Ouch. [force 5 would've been better in hindsight - or just buying my hits (not sure how you think about that...)]
(
rolled)
End result: sustained 'Analyze Truth' with 5 hits, got 1 physical damage
Keep me informed about the the truth in his words, will you?
P.S.: now that you got time to fetch your gm notes, any more/more detailed info?
