Well Greasy's moving him and his now (I hope) loaded van back out of the area along with the lower sensored condor so that all the hiddeously illegal combat drones aren't there if LS show up, but the high sensor condor is going to follow the others so he can spot trouble heading their way......
But if no-one has a better idea we need to finish the meet with Mr. Kiteo don't we? Well finish in that we need to see if he wants us to do more, failing that farm anyone? *8->
Oh and Gunner I was thinking more of Gold, gold, gold, gold, gold that famous dwarf hit not to be confused with Gold, gold, gold, gold, gold or Gold, gold, gold, gold, gold the other two classics *8->

OK, I'm going to be gone this whole weekend on vacation, unfortunately. Don't slow down for me, Ace at this point is magnanimous enough towards his new best friends to go along with pretty much whatever plan they hatch, as long as it's not completely insane... but if we're just meeting with the bossman, that's no problem. I'll be back on Monday, and I'll check up on the thread today before I leave.

I think the issue came up before about the skill used for remote craft. AFAIK, there's a remote specialization for most vehichle skills, but using a vehichle remotely simply requires the relevent vehichle skill. Thus, a fixed-wing drone is controlled with the fixed-wing piloting skill. Is this the way we're doing it, or are we doing it abother way? I remember a dispute over it, but can't remember the outcome, if any.

All DB's own work. Made me smile too, but I was just the typist.
BTW. Does Ace have a `Contact' who can fly a plane? And is it possible he/she can acquire a Cesna or antique Military jet or similar?
It would need to be adapted, perhaps at the Farm, for remote control. Presuming that Ace & Greasy have the know-how.
Silverspur_2020
May 25 2004, 03:40 PM
if memory serves... Ace can more or less fly anything with wings, so that shouldnt be a problem! Also to do with the contact... im not to sure, I will have to dig out his charecter sheet for that (or if Gunner knows he can say so).
And as far as the rule regarding remote control rigging, I think we did decide on using the relevent vehicle skill...
GunnerJ
May 25 2004, 04:51 PM
Yeah, that was a coy reference on Ace's part to his own l337 skillz. No, he doesn't have any realy way of getting a plane; one of his contacts is now a PC, and the other is a decker, a role more than adequettely covered by another PC. Best chosen contacts evar.
Silverspur_2020

"Also, as the air taxi's are so paranoid about people hi-jacking, I know for a fact that they have sealed pilots areas which have bullit proof plating... they probably have panic buttons to the Star as well"
Boss, DB sussed that would be the case, which is why Flip did the `hard look' at Bluebird to see if she had an `in' with Mr Kitao so the Team could get a plane.
I'm just the typist - don't shoot me.

I am going to need a better list then that... anyone else can help him OCC... but I want this bit of decking to be carried out entirely by Codec. Feel free to take a leaf out of Rakashasa/DB's book and do some creative writing. Just try to think about who might have planes, who might work with them or on them or anything like that.

Security guards have to have limited passes in airports.
Seattle International has Security guards.
Baggage handlers, particularly those in the bonded warehouses, would have computer access at a reasonably high level.
Then there's always the maintenance back-door I suppose.
Try booking an `Easyjet' seat and go in from there?
Aircraft museums. A Catelina flying boat or, even less likely, an old Sunderland. Must be a research facility on in the Matrix, for a student of aerodynamics or astrophysics etc.
I can't remember the service name of the US submarine hunter aircraft used in WWII, but one of them would do. Research submarines and come in from way out in left field?
There we are, a few ideas for ya!!

Jun 4 2004, 03:33 PM
No, no, a mis-read I think. A seaplane which used to hunt submarines during WWII. Actually, I think it was the Catalina type. Twin engine double pontoon with gun bisters on each side. She could drop depth charges if, and as and when, she found the enemy on the surface and he crash dived.
But nicking a sub's just as good.

Here is the following info to help make a decision.
Bell Boeing V-22B Osprey
The Osprey mounts two large, wide propped engine nacelles at the ends of long, high-lift wings. The engines can be tilted from a forward facing direction to a vertical position, allowing the aircraft to take off and hover vertically. The wings can be folded back along the body for better storage (takes 1 minute to fold back, and 5 minutes to deploy before flight), making the Osprey a perfect vehicle to work from rooftop airpads and unprepared airstrips.
Ospreys can be found as commuter vehicles between city centres and hub airports, or as corporate aircraft operating from rooftop pads atop headquarters skyscrapers.
Speed
170/510
Seating: Twin bucket seats Access: 1 + 1 standard + 1 double-sized
Economy: 2 km per liter* Fuel: IC/450 liters
Cargo/Storage: 10 CF storage + 45 CF cargo
Landing/Take-off Profile: VTOL/VTOL
Options: The Commuter variant has 40 bucket seats in a 2-aisle-2 layout. The Executive variant has ten individual bucket seats. The Cargo variant has ten folding benches and 10(+40)CF cargo, 10(+50) if seats are removed.
* = VTOL economy .5km/liter

Before I can make an IC post on Ace's opinion of the craft, I might need some info on it, as I can't find it in R3. The basics of what type of craft-- fixed wing, rotor, vector-thrust-- should be obvious, but would anything require a skill roll? The only thing I could think to use is the active piloting skill, which I recall reading somewhere gives a background knowledge skill equal to half its rating, but I don't know...
EDIT: duhhh read the thread... nevermind.
RE-EDIT: OK, what do the two speed thingies mean? IS the first one VTOL and the second coasting?

From Running Gear for SR2:

As to the dual speed thing, I have no idea, never was a rigger *L*
Silverspur_2020
Jun 8 2004, 06:18 PM
Being that I am almost ALWAYS playing a rigger in shadowrun I can answer that question about the speed rating with confidence (only to be proven wrong at a later date!

)
It is displayed as 170/510. The first number is always the crusing speed of the vehicle, which in this case is 170 klicks per hour. The secound number is the top speed which again in this case means 510 Klicks per hour.
and I hate to mock anyone (gunner

) but wouldnt a VTOL speed actually be 0, as it would be hovering in the air?! hehehe...
Rakshasa
Jun 8 2004, 07:24 PM
I may be wrong but, don't the engines tilt, so the craft can even go backwards - think Sea Harrier here.
Hence, there would be a forward or backward speed facto depending on the lift to forward/backward motion ratio.
I had another thought, can we rig the Osprey with machine cannon? Be nice to intimidate the Ship when we catch up to it.

Not necessarily. It could describe the vehichle's speed while the rotors are keeping it hovering. Actually, since the "TOL" in "VTOL" stands for "take off and landing," its speed couldn't be zero, unless it never took off or landed. Which would sort of defeat the purpose.

Simple theory from Flip, what knows more'n I do about such things.
Codec, shouldn't you be able to leave a little `smart frame' prog in the Harbourmaster's system to notify you when, and if, the Ships' Captain logs his intent to sail?
DB's out rehearsing a Summer Show, which is why I'm posting this.

Codec - can you place the smart prog in the Harbourmaster's System?
Ace - Can you confirm you're OK on flying the Osprey?
Greasy - Can you confirm sending out drones to watch the Boathouse for Lady Jane to appear?
All - confirm a night attack, or day time?
Please, pretty please.

Jun 20 2004, 12:21 PM
Yep, saw that.
So all we need to know is whether Codec needs to roll for placing the alarm and the warning of an impending Inspection in the Harbourmaster's system and for renting the Osprey.
That Greasy's drones are on overwatch and, finally, that the the Eighty Eight's are going to respond to the Inspection without a second thought so that Lady Jane sails on the midnight tide.
