Global Fame (20) - Noburo may not be the best actor out there, and he certainly is not winning any awards beyond those Horizon buys for him (don't tell him that), but he took the world by storm in the years following the Crash 2.0, hitting the global mediascape right along with Horizon's ascent to Mega status. He not only has one major franchise of sims, but two with NinjaForce III making the rounds, and the sequal to Rising Sun (his near-future Sci-Fi blockbuster) in post-production. Noburo has an entire PR department marketing his image and trademarks on everything from shoes to designer weapons, and while his fanbase might be slipping after so much saturation, he still enjoys the good life wherever he goes.

Day Job (15) - Some people maintain a P2.0 feed for enjoyment, some because they want to revel in their fanbase or find one, Noburo is contractually obligated to lifeblog. Every event he appears at is hand-picked by his Horizon, even the runs he takes. The fact he is a globally active Shadowrunner only adds to his action-simstar cred as far as the corporation is concerned.

Micheal Vinces has his dirty little hands in the affairs of so many of Horizon's acts that it is hard sometimes to reckon how he knows all of their names. In truth, he doesn't, he just runs facial recognition software to clue him in and give him enough info to pretend he cares. But Micheal is viciously competant, and his contacts seep into all levels of the entertainment industry and beyond. Until recently he has acted as a Horzison Johnson and Fixer for street level runners, but by the grace of some juicy paydata has scored exclusive handling rights for Noboru. He is loyal, but only so long as the 'kid' keeps making him money.

A gifted mechanic and mad-scientist, Bobby was the boy-genius who helped Noboru design and over time refine the Rising Sun jetpack. He is an MIT&T graduate, and a closet Adept Savant with technical abilities that are a marvel. Bobby and Noboru actually have history prior to Noboru's approaching Horizon, though the corporation is unaware of it, as they are unaware of Noboru's true past.

Byron is a worldly British Expatriate whom was hired, much to Noboru's chagrin at first, as his bodyguard and personal driver. Though Noboru did not wish to have personal protection assigned to him, the British man's man has proven to be a stout companion, and the two have developed quite a friendship over the past few years. As it were, Bryon has spent a good deal of time campaigning in Africa, and while it has been some years, he has contacts with the local mercenary elements, as well as some diplomatic ties.

Located and hired by Noboru's street team, Kibwe serves as a local guide, with ties to the Area Boys whom Horizon has employed as guards for some of their ventures in the city. It was with Kibwe's assistance that Noboru has learned to speak the local cityspeak of Lagos.

It may be the fool that crosses a ninja clan, but they are even more vicious when it is one of their own that they perceive as having betrayed them.

BACKGROUND

1) Where is your character from?

According to his official biography Noburo Mochizuki was born on the island of Kona, in the Kingdom of Hawa'i. He was raised in the Kingdom, but moved to Neo-Tokyo when he came of age, embarking on a sojourn to discover his ancestral roots.
In truth the man known as Noburo Mochizuki was born Saburo Nakamura, in the Prefecture of Mie, Japan.

2) Does your character have a family?

Noburo's bio lists his mother and father as living in Hawa'i, and Horizon has even provided actors to play the elderly couple. The two live in a private senior's enclave, tucked far away from the prying eyes of the media and all but his most dogged fans.
Saburo Nakamura's parents have both long since passed, and he was estranged from the rest of his family well before re-inventing himself in the aftermath of the Crash 2.0.

3) Does your character have an ethnic background?

Noburo Mochizuki is ethnically Japanese, of pure blood traced back many generations, all the way to Japan. This is perhaps the only true part of the background provided to and perpetuated by Horizon.

APPEARANCE

4) What does your character look like?

Noburo is 5'7", and possessed of a well defined musculature, jet black hair kept long, and dark brown eyes. He has a thin scar running from the base of his skull around the left side of his neck, ending just under the hinge of his jaw. While he often appears heavily tattooed in simflicks and in public appearances, these are intricately re-created make-up effects, pattered after traditional Japanese designs with more modern, Hawa'iian inspired patterning.

5) What does your character dress like?

In public Noburo always dresses ultra-chic, with surf-inspired fashions being at the forefront of his wardrobe. He also cuts a mean figure in a designer suit, and several premier labels provide him with tailoring services for major events.
In private, which is a rare and sacred event, Noburo prefers simple running wear and loose fitting casual clothing.

6) Does your character have physical quirks?

Even while he is making public appearances Noburo carries himself in a manner which, to the trained eye, speaks volumes. He may seem casual, but there is an energy about him, a cool predatory poise that says he is thinking of ways to kill just about anyone around him.

7) Where did your character learn their Active Skills?

The man known as Noburo Mochizuki is an accredited and tournament hardened Karate black belt and champion, however Karate is only a smokescreen for his true martial training. From an early age he was fostered and trained by the Ida ninja society, where he refined not only the deadly, but the subtle arts of infiltration and observation.

Under the instruction of the society's elders, he joined the Imperial Navy, where he was screened for pilot training. It was during his service that he picked up his training with pistols, his aircraft piloting and mechanical skills.

Since adopting his new persona Noburo has taken to the skies in another way, not only helping to refine the design of, but becoming the first pilot to master the heavily modified jetpack which he donned for the lead role in Rising Sun. He also learned to wield laser weaponry for the role, and has since used both in his Horizon sponsored shadow-career.

8 ) Where did your character learn their Knowledge Skills?
The majority of his knowledge skills can be attributed to the same venues where he learned his active skills. It is only his knowledge of the Los Angeles jet-set that has come outside of these institutions.
Noburo has always had a facility for languages, and has gone out of his way to learn dialects appropriate to any region he is spending extended periods of time in. Horizon is more than happy to indulge him by obtaining native speaking tutors, because a star that wants to learn is a star not going out and causing the bad kind of scandal.

9) Where did your character get his goodies?
While the majority of the gear Noburo possesses has been furnished to him directly by, or through Horizon and his handlers the ancient sword which serves as a foci for his martial talents is in fact a family heirloom, and was passed on throughout the generations of his family.

10) Where does your character live?
While Noburo's official residence is in Los Angeles, PCC, he spends a good deal of time on location and around the world. Of late he has been living out of the Hilton Executive Suites, on Victoria Island, Laos.

Given that he, himself is Awakened, Noburo's attitude towards magic is understandably open minded.

PERSONALITY

14) What are your character's likes and dislikes?
Noboru's public face is listed as liking sushi, surfing, and the samurai arts. In truth he has developed a preference for a more subdued life of quiet meditation in the past several years, but he is devoted to Horizon's mission to put him in a place of enacting social justice, even if it is more often than not at the expense of their competitors.

He has grown weary of the media at large, and the jet-set lifestyle, but maintains it for appearances, and out of dedication to his fan base.

15) What is your character's moral code?
Noburo was raised on a code of loyalty and dedication to the martial arts. While in the eyes of his former society he has betrayed them, there is still an honorable core to his being. His dedication now is to his fans, and to the pursuit of justice where traditional measures have failed.

16) Does your character have goals?
Noboru has everything he could ever ask for, except for peace. He looks forward to the day his contract runs out and he is able to fade into obscurity again.

17) Does your character have personal beliefs?
He believes in upholding the honor of his family, and in seeking justice by the sword. In his heart he knows that he is destined to die in combat, though he would rather it not be the case.

18) Does your character have personality quirks?
There is a duality within him, and while he is the face of a media sim-sation, he is quite reserved when out of the spotlight.

RUNNING THE SHADOWS

19) Why does your character run the shadows?
He has become a Horizon sanctioned and sponsored shadowrunner in the pursuit of social justice, and to right wrongs, much like his character in the Rising Sun series. Most of his pursuits are sim-corded, and he maintains a running P2.0 lifeblog of his activities.

20) How does your character view his/her role as a shadowrunner?
Noboru views himself as a defender of the weak when they have no voice, even if he is really just a corporate shill.

Yeah, it sounds like a load of horse-drek, and really when you get down to it, that's exactly what the NinjaForce and Rising Sun movies are. But that has not stopped Noboru Mochizuki from becoming a household name world-wide. While the sims he stars in may seem formulaic, there is just something about riding along in the emotions of a nova hot martial artist as he does his thing.

Naboru, the Rising Sun, child of Hawa'i and wise in the ways of his Japanese ancestry, hit the media scene shortly after the Crash 2.0 and he has been on the cultural radar ever since. With half a dozen simflicks to his name, he has branched out, and along with being ambassador to several charities and spokesperson for countless products (including his own brand of footwear), he is a Horizon sanctioned runner with a massive P2.0 following. With Horizon looking to expand its market share in Africa, they have been setting up a series of appearances around the continent for Noboru, with his current home base in Laos.

Of course before the Crash things were different for Noboru. Take his last name, and the service number that went missing along with it. For the better part of ten years he served the Imperial Military, only to defect along with Protector-General Saito and his occupation force. This defection was engineered by his true masters at the time, the Ida ninja society. In recreating himself, Noboru drew upon the martial skills imparted upon him by his ninja clan, who, having discovered the truth of his deception, hold him in the highest contempt as a traitor.
