Um... did we ever figure out how or what we are being paid for this? Are we being paid a set rate for time spent as a mercenary or by each mission? Just some questions we should address.

hmm... it seems as though we stepped out of the tent with details still sketchy on a number of issues: payment, when to strike, what exactly our employer expects from us for this job to be complete. Maybe our team leader should find this out and fill us in.

The job is a 500,000

for "services rendered in the establishment and formation of a facility designated for the emancipation of the region. The contract is not to exceed 2 months, any time after that will require a new contract. Food and lodging are assumed, other costs are removed from the contractual amount."

Since you can conjure forest spirits and didn't critically fail, you remember their power list as: Accident, Concealment, Confusion, Fear, Guard, Materialization.
You also remember that they are durable and strong, but slow.

Just to ruin your day with the rules, watchers can't find anything that doesn't have an aura.
Shadow
Mar 9 2004, 10:39 AM
Why does that ruin the day? The driver has an aura right? And if a watcher doesn't work send a spirit. Or he can go astrally himself.
Herald of Verjigorm
Mar 9 2004, 06:04 PM
The original instruction was "find a truck" and the only ways a watcher could find a truck are:
1) if it has been enchanted as a focus
2) if it has somehow been pushed into the astral plane (like the astral constructs mentioned in awakened lands)
By the new instruction, the watcher does have the potential to find something. Watchers are very limited in what varieties of abstraction they can grasp.
broho_pcp
Mar 9 2004, 06:50 PM
Most of this I just learned: Spirits can move amazingly fast astrally, however they cannot search much faster than you or I could run. It may take longer for the watcher to find anything than I thought. In addition, many watchers are stupid and usually screw up the instructions. Most spirits do not have a "search power" that watchers have and are therefore less useful. As for scouting by projecting, I will probably do exactly that because I am impatient and won't give the watcher much time to find anything.
broho_pcp
Mar 10 2004, 05:17 AM
To explain my search method: I will start on the road and look down it for anything suspicious. I will then zoom a Kilometer farther down the road (more or less) and look both ways. Repeat until I pass the river and go about the distance to the edge of the map we have (yes I do know a lot of this is guestimation).
To GM: Will I need to continue to make perception tests every mile or should I do something else? And is there anything else I missed in my description?
Really out of character: Would cyberware (gaes taken to offset) still apply when projecting?
Herald of Verjigorm
Mar 10 2004, 05:20 AM

J. has the overwhelming desire to get far away!
Howl + sense of overwhelming terror. If one creature, it could easily be a barghest. kludde, or fenrir wolf. Whether any of those would live in this area is something you can't remember.
If it's just a case of bad timing, there are plenty of non-dog-like animals (including metahuman spellcasters) capable of causing fear, and there are plenty of dog-like animals that howl.
