Or, alternately, a geas of a specific trigger to be given by another: both to turn them on and to turn them off. It would then require specific initiations for River to re-learn some of these abilities without the geas: ie. to bring them fully under her control.
Curious question: would such re-learning supercede the previous version entirely? In other words, could she still be controlled by someone who knows the trigger?
If we drop Pilot Aerospace and Escape Artist, that drops required Negative Qualities to -37: still over, but not as bad.
I wonder if that single spell (currently breaking canon by requiring "spell knack" in an adept) could be adapted into some variant of the adept's Improved Sense or Magic Sense? That would also free up some Positive Quality points.

An Adept Power version of Area Thought Recognition would likely be better than relying on the Spell Knack Quality. It would free up a lot of build points (24 from spell knack, the spell cost and spellcasting skill). If you get rid of Pilot and Escape Artist, that would be 32 free pts. Enough to reduce Negative Qualities to 35 pts and still have 22 pts left to spend.

She is not meant to be an RPG character. Statting her is like trying to stat Sauron from LotR, or the Reavers from Serenity, or Galactus from Marvel comics. She is Deus ex Machina, or Deus ex Whedona, whatever. |
One thing at a time, Ronin. One thing at a time.
