The first four are only in Chinese (subtitles) but, damn do they have a great SR feel to them.

You forgot A better tomorrow 1&2. They're nowhere as good as The Killer, but they've some pretty good scenes. And the finale of the second is awesome.

How could I forget? You are completely right...More gore then a civil war medical tent in both of those films.

Full Time Killers

Maintaining my promise to not create new movie threads, I'm bringing back this one to inform people about an interesting Canadian/South African series called Charlie Jade.

The show revolves around a parallel-universe concept, rather than being purely cyberpunk. It is essentially about a hard-boiled PI from a cyberpunk universe with mildly superior technology (no implants except for a tracking chip which everyone has, but drones and some other stuff) and a terrorist freedom fighter from a perfect hippie utopia accidently getting themselves stuck in our world while attempting for fight against an evil-ish megacorp which spans all three universes.

Much of the plot concerns happenings in the "Alphaverse" the hardcore dystopia from which the title character hails. It is a rather interesting place. People are implanted wich microchips at birth which allow the megacorp to track them where-ever they go in the world. It is also required to pay for goods and services and is illegal to remove.
Everyone is also assigned a citizenship rating, for which there are four possible ratings. The C-3, the lowest class of citizen, is essentially a slave, though the terms "employer"and "employee" are euphemistically used in place of "master" and "slave". When Charlie is declared legally dead after his vanishes, the government claims all of his property, including his girlfriend, and sells her to her previous "employer" who used her as an unwilling sex toy. The C-2s are your average middle class citizens, allowed to own property and even run their own businesses, such as Charlie's P.I. office. The C-1 rating is reserved for high-ranking corporate employees and the very wealthy. The C-1A, just a little bit higher, is limited only to the top ranking megacorp officials and their closest family members. C-1As are essentially above all laws and can murder without consequence, as is the case with the antagonist 01 Boxer, a sadisic rapist/torturer/murderer who enjoys immunity due to his status as a former CEO's son. Upward mobility is possible (Charlie was born a C-3 but earned a C-2), but suitably difficult.

And, being South African, it takes place in Cape Town and is filmed in Cape Town, which is rare enough to be a reason to watch it.

Oh yeah. This movie has just been released today. I immediately thought of DNA/DOA, and the various "bughunt" modules. It's called "Alien vs. Predator: Requiem". Watch the trailer here.

I was rererading Threats and Loose Alliances, looking at all the Humanis/Free Human Brotherhood/National Aktion/Alamos 20K stuff. There are a number of good film inspirations for them. I assume everyone knows about American History X. They may even know about Romper Stomper (Australian) or This Is England. But there was a real gem back in '96 called Mother Night, based on the Kurt Vonnegut novel (he also has a cameo in the film). Watch the trailer here.


Particularly relevant to the Free Human Brotherhood, a number of documentaries on the Aryan Brotherhood have been done by National Geographic, History, and Discovery. I did'nt search very far, but the National Geographic one at least in on youtube, in several parts. The most informative are the bits with Michael Thompson (a former Council member) and Casper Crowell (who still believes in "the Cause", but left for his own reasons).

While not a movie, a good TV Show for ideas for Shadowrun:

The A-Team: How could you not list the series where the term "Face" comes from? This is where, in fact, I think we get the true idea of the perfect team: A leader(who can do a little bit of everything), a Face, a pilot/driver, a techie/heavy weapons operator.

Although this next treasure was made in'75, I first saw it in the early 80's, when HBO played it occaisionally. It scared the crap out of me when I was a kid. The title is "Recorded Live", and it's a short film about experimental video tape coming alive and eating people by "engulf"ing them. Some Aztechnology experiment gone wrong, perhaps? If you like it, you can find it on the dvd "Tremors 4" as an extra. Anyway, enough blather. Watch it here.

Requiem: Paris 2054.

It's a long days journey into night, but that's the French for you. The ending makes it worth it and it gives a futuristic look without losing it's noir appeal. Ideal to get you to that Shadowrun place in the back of your head.

Sorry to thread necro, but I recently watched two films which I mentioned earlier. Teeth dissapointed me. It was an innovative concept for a horror film, and began strongly, but then fizzled. Maybe my expectations were too high. As for AVP: Requiem, it blows; don't waste your time. I saw it for free, and STILL felt like asking for my money back.

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet (I'm too lazy to go through all the pages), but Harley-Davidson and the Marlboro Man is perfect for a Ghetto-Run with bad Corporate Consequences.

Also gives a good idea for a drug, too.
