I think that with some of the equipment each person carries, the IC decisions will be easily based off of what they see.
Example: John Eagle Eyes (me) has eyes that give off a dull metallic sheen for color. Obvious equation gives you some tricked-out eyes. You'd probably also see the pistol at his side with a wire linking it to his head. Unless you have Int 1 with Oblivious, you'll probably wind up figuring that I can hit anything with any gun.
Although, this is, as always, up to the decision of our good GM, moose.

Well a certain amount about Jared Red Eagle is public knowledge (within the forces), mainly with regards to the fact he can throw one hell of a punch, since he served a stint in prison for beating the tar out of an Anglo who spoke ill of him. I'm all for the sheet sharing... it's not like they're secret in this kind of thing... you get to know people when you work in close quarters with them... especially in the military, because if you don't, you're dead...
Ol' Scratch
Nov 23 2003, 01:25 AM
Exactly. There are no secrets in this sort of an organization. We've spent years training together to work as one.
I'd normally agree with you in a standard game, Tanka, but this is a special case.

My guy is a shaman but I don't know how ovious it is. He doesn't have a bunch of crap hanging of his hair or anything. He's big, but not Hulk sized or anything. He has a 5 oclock shadow at 5:30 in the morning and he tends to speak in a low baratone you swear is more a growl then words.
I'm all for telling people eveything, but I think a certain amount of privacy is needed, just so that we have some suprises during the game.
Ol' Scratch
Nov 23 2003, 01:55 AM
You're not supposed to carry it all.
Just what you need on the specific mission. If it's a big mission, I'm sure we'll be issued a vehicle or two to help out.

The Sioux nation provides jackpoints, silly.
System for knowing about each other is- send moosegod stuff. moosegod selects which stuff goes on awesomely uber site of doom. Then it is concidered "known to all".
Anyways, you are a unit that has just been formed, so you know each other by sight from training, and you all know the Master Sergeant well.
What happened to our rigger, anyways?
Free gear? We'll cross that bridge later in the campaign. Take what you think you'll need to start, unless you think something special needs discussing.

Correct, moose. Has it all zipped up and ready to go for you.
I really do wish there was something cleaner than NSRCG (That I don't have to code myself ;p) in terms of viewability. Everything mashed together is just so unpretty. (Yes. That's a word. I made it up just now. So, therefore, it's a word.)

My character is done for the most part, unfortunately, I don't have access to that computer at the moment and won't until Monday. I can role play him for now though if you want to start the game before then, I just won't be doing much dice rolling.
One more note for everyone. I have a BattleTac Master Unit, so if you guys can get recievers, that would be great.
moosegod, what are our options as far as contacts go? And can you give us a brief rundown of the Sioux Nation and how things work? I don't have any of the sorcebooks on the native lands.

Oh, one thing I thought you would want to know. My character is an Orc named Master Sergeant Joseph Wolfbrother. His weapon of choice is his Ranger-X bow.
HMHVV Hunter
Nov 23 2003, 11:19 AM
I have officially named by character Jonathan Wildheart.
He's a wolf combat shaman whose weapons of choice are a Morriessey Alta (for silent ops) and a Mossberg CMDT (for when things get shot to hell).

Wow, the new M&M errata make my character (Jason Runningdeer, stag shaman sorcerer and medico grunt) need a couple of changes. Of course, I was only about 2/3 of the way done in the first place
Also, MG, how do you interpert the Detect Enemies spell? The way I read it, it's nearly useless in military applications (where your foes wouldn't actually intend you harm until they know you're there, etc.), but you might have a different reading
moosegod
Nov 23 2003, 06:55 PM
I'll rule that if you are on opposite sides during a war, they'll work. However, we'll stick with normal rules for "other" ops the OMI might put you in.
Give me a day or so to put up Sioux stuff on the uber site of major slaughtering plus a lot.
Contacts should probably be Government or military. Remember, your two freebies are used up.
Jason Running Deer-
You look good so far. You might want to consider a specialization of your medicene. Or not, it is you character after all.
I'd suggest swapping Salish and Cherokee skill levels. You don't get the three points for Day Job, yo. Compulsion (neatness) at -2 and something else might be appropriate. But you look good otherwise. Welcome aboard!

Oh... Can we buy insurance? I'm worried that somebody'll blow up my van.
moose knows why this would cause me worry. I think.

Nope, I noticed the Day Job bit, too.
And a van? Pfft. You should have made something cooler! We get all the fun toys. Any runner can have a twinked out van.... but an APC, Heavy Transport, or Thunderbird... aww yeah, baby!
(I'm just giving you a hard time. I bought a friggin' bike myself.)
moosegod
Nov 23 2003, 08:53 PM
Yes, you can buy insurance. Look up today's vehicle insurance and report back to me, and I'll do some thinking because I'm really lazy.
And, you know you can keep that stuff on base, right?
Tanka
Nov 23 2003, 08:59 PM
Yeah, but who knows when I'll need the heavy artillery? I mean... That missle launcher could come in handy...
Ol' Scratch
Nov 23 2003, 08:59 PM
They have a simple rule in the Sprawl Survivor's Guide for insurance. Basically, just take 10% of the vehicle/lifestyle/whatever and bam, there's your insurance premium per month. For vehicles, I'd personally rule that it only applies to the base cost of the vehicle, but that's just me.
moosegod
Nov 23 2003, 09:01 PM
That sounds rockzors.
Consider it done, but I'll apply it to the accesories as well, since, you know, you'll want those back.
Tanka
Nov 23 2003, 09:06 PM

OK, OK, so not that much. But still quite a bit. =\

Ol' Scratch
Nov 23 2003, 09:10 PM
Is it a personal vehicle or one the military issued? If the latter, why bother with insurance at all? As long as someone steals it while on base, the military should be compensating for any damage/loss occured on a mission. Or at least I'd imagine so.
moosegod
Nov 23 2003, 09:14 PM
And you are so right.
Tanka

Digital Heroin
Nov 23 2003, 09:27 PM
You realize no insurance company in the world's going to insure the van and the explosives you carry in it... heck, most won't touch it with a ten foot pole if they know you carry explosives. They'll cover the van itself, and not even that if it's got obvious mods...
I mean, if they insured boom boom, I'd make sure to cover my vehicles, then car bomb the enemy
moosegod
Nov 23 2003, 09:27 PM
Well, that is a point. But you don't need to insure everything on it.
Tanka
Nov 23 2003, 09:32 PM
I'm talking military insurance, mainly. Will they replace my gear if some guy manages to light it up just right?
moosegod
Nov 23 2003, 09:37 PM
Military does off insurance, but not of gear you're going to use on a mission.
If you use personal gear and clear it with the Quartermaster, they'll get a replacemetn.
Ol' Scratch
Nov 23 2003, 10:03 PM
Outside of things like his bike, personal lifestyle, daily wardrobe, and walkman, is there anything on Joaquin Laughing-Snow's equipment list that wouldn't be covered?
moosegod
Nov 23 2003, 11:15 PM
No. But keep in mind that the coverage only applies to stuff that the military is taking care of- stored in the Inventory or used, with Quartermaster's approval on a mission.

Hey, a question:
What's the difference between the Lakota, Dakota, and Nakota tribes?
moosegod

They are really three different tribes, united by language. That's about it. In the Nation, they are considered one tribe.

Nov 24 2003, 03:43 AM
From SoNA, the tribal affiliation breakdown (63% of the total population having one) is:
35% Cherokee (Tsalagi)
21% Sioux
9% Choctaw
5% Creek
5% Chickasaw
5% Blackfoot
20% Other (Arapaho, Crow, Seminole, Cree, and Cheyenne, as well as fragments of Ojibwa, Mohawk, Apache, and Navajo)
Languages are:
90% English
14% Dakota
11% Lakota
10% Cherokee (Tsalagi)
Seeing as how I'm fairly familiar with the Cherokee (location, location, location), Jason Runningdeer is one of them
