Considering that this unofficial series of net-books was not around when FASA first mentioned NERPS, it'd be a good bet that they are not the origins of NERPS in canon.

You have it backwards. Ancient History's first post (with the spoiler) was correct, as he well knows. It is the net-books that are incorrect as far as the origin of NERPS is concerned.
