Okay, my character is fixed.

Out of curiosity, how are we going to do rolls? Will you be rolling them, or will you be trusting us to roll them, or will we be using an intermediary (e.g. Invisible Castle)?
Cthulhudreams
If FFBA is on, are we using the entire armour section from that book including mods, or can I just by BBB legal armour and tack on FFBA?
Tabula Rasa
Do you have enough players who are "company men" to fill your quota or do you still need one? If so let me know and I'll pm you with a few possibilities.
quentra
I trust you guys, but I want the format to be like this:

Sample Test

6 (skill) + 6 (attribute) + 2 (modifier) = 14

Rolling 14 die:

1 6 1 6 5 6 3 2 3 4 3 2 4 1 = 6 Hits

We'll be using the cinematic optional rule ( 4's count as a hit)

And FFBA and drone mods are the only thing from Arsenal I'm allowing.

As for 'company men,' I don't have any backgrounds yet, so once I get those (just a paragraph or two), I'll decide. Like I said, a lot of the plot will be based off backgrounds and the characters themselves.
Professeur
I'll be posting my background & revised character sheet somewhere along thing afternoon. I've still got to think about it.
kookyjeld
quentra approved my mentor spirit idea so, at the very least, I should have a draft of my character sheet posted by this evening. wink.gif Thanks for being patient, everyone.
Aaron
Okay, character's fixed, starting nuyen rolled. How much background do you want?

Do we get free contacts?

Strike that, just read the intro.

First, you have 30 BP spare in your special attributes ! Magician automatically gives you 1 Magic, so bringing it up to 5 costs 40 Bp, and as a human you start with Edge 2, for a total of 50 BP for your special attributes, not 80. Use these points to bring up your agility to 4 (so you could have significant dicepool in infiltration and pistols, and agility is probably one of the most useful attributes in this game)

You might want to cut the 30BP in stealth, because it will only give you a dicepool of 5 (7 if you make my tweak, which isn't significat). Take 16 bp and build up Infiltration up to 4, maybe with a spec if you feel like it. With the remaining points, either put it in sorcery or influence group.

You could also take the 10 dice from your influence group and take the Infiltration spell. You'd save 7 BP, so you'd only have to find 3 more BP to gain 1 more agility point. You would use the remaining BP to augment your firearms skill, at least up to 2 with an semi-automatics spec.

My 2 cents !

EDIT : I just counted your BPs, and your total is really 420 BP. So you only have 10 BP left from your special attributes mistake. My other suggestions still stand though, so do whatever you feel like !
kookyjeld
Thanks for the input, Professeur! I used Autarkis' excel spreadsheet for the mathy portions but it looks like some of it is a little off. I'll take a look again when I get home from work. wink.gif
Professeur
I used Daegann's character generator myself. It works pretty well, except for a few minor details. It does the math alright though, and it includes Street Magic spells (but not augmentation cyberware though, but that wouldn't interest you). Don't remember where I found it, maybe you could search for it on the board or on some site like Knasser's.

If I were you, I'd probably recount every singles nuyen and BP on that sheet, you don't know what else slipt through your chargen sheet. And quentra wanted to price-tag the stuff you bought so you'll have to count it anyways wink.gif. At that point, the best option would probably be to tweak it without any other program once you're sure of your BP total.

Yeah, I think I'll be overhauling it with another sheet or program .. oy!
Professeur
Here's my revised character sheet. The background is mostly in my head right now. Will work on it later tonight, because it will soon be Hockey Playoff time here in Montreal ! I've written up the contacts though, so you can have a basic idea of the character. Any comments ?

Eep! TR, mind spoilering your sheet? Its a bit long.

Anyway, I have suggestions for most of you, and sheet inconsistencies, so I spoilered all the sheets I have so far below, with individual suggestions in each. Tell me if I got your sheets wrong, and I'll fix em.

Spoilered my post. Couldn't figure out the right tag at first... I guess it's pretty obvious what the tag is though.
kookyjeld
Thanks, quentra! I didn't notice those BP inconsistencies, but it looks like I didn't fully transfer over the skill list from my spreadsheet, either. That's what I get for trying to do too many things at once. smile.gif

Changes(with your approval):
[ Spoiler ]
quentra
Heh. Actually, 396, so you can bump another skill a point or specialize twice. I modded your charsheet to reflect the changes.
Aaron
Background and stuff sent.
quentra
Right, put suggestions down for everyone, hopefully modded charsheets correctly. If they're wrong, tell me. All I need now are some backgrounds (already have a few), and Cthuludreams to get his stuff together, and we'll be ready to rawk and roll, people.

EDIT: Put two news stories up, more upcoming.
Professeur
Quentra, I noticed just a few things with the numbers on the sheet you pasted. Your numbers give a total of 407BP. Here are the two mistakes you made while counting my BPs. It doesn't change anything, but I thought it would be better to dissipate any misunderstanding if anybody else notices it.

First, you listed my negative qualities balancing at -30BP, but you didn't count the Adept quality in there, because you already listed the BP cost at the beginning. I have -35BP worth of negative qualities, plus the 5BP adept positive quality, which balances at -30BP, and not -25BP.

Second, you listed my skills as worth 108BP, when they really are worth 106BP. 30BP skill group, 64BP skills, 12BP specializations.

Just thought I'd warn you wink.gif

EDIT: where are the stories you speak of ? RE-EDIT : no matter ! found'em !

I haven't found them. Where are they?
Aaron
Never mind, I found them, too.
Tabula Rasa
I'm going to post an updated character soon.

Just a note, I'm currently just finishing the equipment for Dagda, then I'll send it and his background through, probably later today.

Fixed. Should be putting up some more articles today. Also, you still have to choose a geas.

If I messed up on anyone else's sheet, let me know.
Cybergirl
If you ever need an alternate, or someone drops out, keep me in mind, ok? I have played a lot of Shadowrun, though not a lot of PbP, so that facet might be a bit clunky for me, but I would definitely be interested.

I changed some things around in my cyber/bio. Changed a few other things around too. The reason I got the pimped out eyes and ears is mostly because its what you don't see coming that tends to kill you. I also liked it for the potential rp and that I'd never done it before. I plan to finish off the package when I get the yen for the Attention Coprocessor to enhance my perception even further. Let me know if you see anything amiss or want me to make any changes.

Please note, I will list what ammo goes with what when I send in my background later today.

This is the updated sheet:

Since Cybergirl threw a note in, I'd like to be in the running so to speak for backup runners for ya. Just PM me if it comes up.
Tabula Rasa
PMed you my character background. Let me know what you think. If it's okay, I'll write in my background skills and finalize my character. After that I'm ready to go.
quentra
Coolios, guys. I'm gonna be gone for most of the week, (Spring Break) with little chance of interwebz, so a small pause. I'll get as much work done as possible today/night, so hopefully when I come back, I'll put up IC and OOC threads, and we'll get the ball rolling. Cthuludreams, you have your chara done?
Cthulhudreams
Yes, will be with you when i get home from work.
Professeur
Sorry about the delay with my background, it's basically half-written, I just haven't had the time between the school and the job to really stick to fleshing out the character. I should PM it to you hopefully tomorrow, maybe thursday.

My entry:

Dagda €“ Mage

Street Alias: "Skriatok"
Fake SIN Name R4: Tuatha De Danann (Irish immigrant with permanent residency in Europort) UK Citizen
Fake SIN Name R4: Vasilii Ivanov Gubin (Russian immigrant permanent residency with in Europort) Evo citizen
Fake SIN Name R2: David Kievlianin Zorynich (Russian immigrant from kiev) Russian Citizen.

Real Name: Dagda Sviatoslavich syn Miasnikov
Age: 26
Origin: The Urals, Russian Federation
Nationality: Russian
Metatype: Ork
Meta variant: Skriatok
Sex: Male
Location: ????
Height: 2.1 meters
Weight: 140 kg
Hair: None, completely bald.
Eyes: Pale blue, almost grey.
Lifestyle: High. To feed his geas Dagda drinks heavily and accumulates gold possessions like some sort of gold based magpie.

[ Spoiler ]

Some observations:

Obviously the meta type is a custom job, but I've based it on orks mechanically. It is jut designed as a unique look and feel designed to tie in with his Geasa and tradition. If you are unhappy with this, I can easily revert to being a regular ork. I've also taken an extra disadvantage (incompetence: swimming) but given myself no points for this, however I do intend to drink beyond all reason and I'm hoping thata I won't be staggering around drunk as a side effect of this smile.gif

I've also gone with a tradition that is loosely based on buddism and earth elementalism. I debating moving earth to guidance and putting fire in place in combat, because a relationship with plants gives you a relationship to the sun.

Also, I have shape metal. If you don't think ferrocrete and plastisteel are affected by shape metal, or that paint or similar blocks LOS for effect, please tell me and I will change it for another spell.

Description

QUOTE
Description:
Dagda is big, tall (2.1m) and powerfully muscular. He is recognizably an ork meta variant, but lacks the signature tusks. Dagda has ambitions of being bigger too, and is prone to wear boots (cowboy or combat) whenever possible, and the cut of his clothes reflects his desire to be even taller, while close cuts show off his well defined physique. His skin an unusual grey colour reminiscent of marble with a faint patina and sheen. Unlike other Skriatok Dagda keeps his lichen confined to his chest, legs, back and arms, opting not to wear a shirt and going for shorts when he is at home relaxing.

Dagda dresses smartly in good quality clothes, again reflecting his desire for status, although he never really follows fashion trends. On the street he goes for casual jeans and a shirt, always with thick soled heavy duty combat boots and usually with his armoured jacket, but will 'dress up' the occasion with his auctioneer suit if required.

On runs he typically uses his augmented chameleon suit, with a hood and his bulky mage sight goggles obscuring his face.

Same here! Damn 25-page client proposals. sleepy.gif

I'm hoping this won't be too big a deal, but I just want to let you guys know that a month from now I'm going to be moving 2,000-ish miles. I'll be locked in a car for about four days and I'll be lucky if I get internet access, so I'll be mostly out-of-commission for those days. Just giving a heads up!
Tabula Rasa
Will our characters know each other before the game starts? If so I'll post a redacted version of my background that the other characters would know and a decent character description. If not, I'll wait for the IC thread.
Cthulhudreams
My theory on that is you an post your background and then rely on people not to suck and (ab)use that knowledge. Admittedly I may think that just because I like reading what people come up with smile.gif
Tabula Rasa
I guess that's true. Now where did I save that thing...
Dakka
Throwing my name out there also. Have a B&E expert , more of a thief feeding his Bliss habit.
Abschalten
Questra contacted me and asked me to play a hacker-type character. So I submitted my charsheet for my face/hacker, Void. We'll see how Europort goes.
Aaron
Er ... I thought I was playing a hacker-type character. Perhaps we need to be Matrix-heavy.

We'll see. He was asking me as a last-minute sort of thing, I gathered. If we don't need redundant specialists, I'm happy to step aside and let you guys have fun.
Tabula Rasa
Do we have a rigger? Maybe could use one of those.
Aaron
Right now, my character is a Matrix specialist and rigger, but I don't mind being redundant. I've got options.
Tabula Rasa
Okay, I got an even better option, and I'm pretty sure no one is planning on playing a Rocker.
quentra
You wanna convert rules for em? nyahnyah.gif

Anyway, I got everyone's charsheet. About Abs, I did say you guys would need at least two matrix people, and I have my reasons. I'll put up threads tonight. So keep an eye out.

In unrelated news, I have more Internet than ever! So yeah. Win.
Cthulhudreams
Can I just clarify that you think shape metal works like I think it works? Otherwise I would like to change it.
quentra
How do you think it works?
Cthulhudreams

Basically that the predominate building materials in SR4 per the books are affected by shape metal (they are described as alloys rather than a concrete/plastics.) and that 'coatings' like paint, plastic wire casings etc don't block LOS for line of effect for spell casting, as long as the 'object' is predominately metal based and you can see it.
