Ok, tossed down a bid on Mydnight's cards smile.gif Is anyopne else here interested? If so, I won't fight them. I'm mostly interested in this lot as trade fodder and deck fodder for at the convention, but if they're going to a good home, more power to you smile.gif
Aaron
I'm in there.

I'm in there.

This may be a shot in the dark, but perchance is your post a refrence to the wonderful Sci-Fi comedy Red Dwarf? The episode it'd be refering to would be the one with the alternate universe where the gender roles are backwards.

I am also thinking about dropping by and getting to know everyone as well. At the very least I could get a good idea about the system and what I can do with it.
Aaron
Actually, it was a response to the post immediately preceding that asked if anyone else was bidding on the SRTCG cards on eBay. The reason for my terminology is spoilered because I imagine it would bore most people:

[ Spoiler ]

I am now out, as somebody else topped my bid and while I'm interested, I'm not more than US$35 interested.

Sorry to hear that you got knocked out Aaron, and should things go bad I'll keep you in mind. I do understand though about not wanting to pay too much smile.gif
Aaron
No worries. I hope you get as much as possible for it.
Bull
I'm out for now as well. I might see where the bidding is in the next day or two, since if you're going to be at Gen Con, I can apply what I'd pay in shipping to my bid as well. But only if no one else is interested in them from here. Like I said before, since I don;t have a real vested interest in them for myself, I'll be happy to let them go to someone else who'll put them to good use wink.gif
Mydnight
Again, thanks to everyone for all the support and I do wish all of you guys luck.

I'm really looking forward to Gen Con and I have the inklings of a Shadowrun persona starting already, even though I have no idea about the system ^^'
Adam

Another thought, we need to cover some etiquette points up front. The first being the use of paper and pen/pencil to write down stats on challenges as they are reconned. This was standard operating procedure in the games that adamu and I played. I don't know if the rest of the SRTCG world rolled that way. We need to reach agreement on that point before the event.

Well I will make an executive decision and agree us all right now - I am showing up with pen and pad. After three back-to-back four-hour SR sessions that day, I will be wanting to RELAX and HAVE FUN, not rack my brain trying to remember all the Challenges I look at!

@Adamu. I have some experience in the hotel industry (having worked in limited service hotels for four years) and if you have any questions or inquiries or need some help please feel free to drop me a line. It looks like you've got things covered for the most part (didn't know you would need insurance for the alcohol, most people in limited service hotels BYoB), but if there are any loose ends I'd be more than happy to help smile.gif

Wow - that is a really kind offer, and I much do appreciate it. As you say, though, things at this point are pretty much all sorted, but if any other weird problems pop up, I will definitely run them by you. Thanks.
LazarusReturns
Wow I haven't played that CCG in years. Maybe I'll stop out. I'm running events 3 of the 4 days but if i can dig out my old cards I'm down.

Even if you can't find your cards, stop by anyways. The more, the merrier, I'd like to meet as many folks as possible from onine and stuff, and we're gonna have extra decks to either hand out or let you borrow as needed smile.gif

Oh yeah, I'm all ready for the con now. My Predator just got delivered today... I can keep all sorts of order with this thing. I was fully impressed, and airsoft that dwarfs my Desert Eagle. Might have to use it for the Scramble as well wink.gif
Aaron
That's the one you showed me, ne? That is an awesome piece. I'll be sad if it's not at the Scramble.
adamu
So - drifting totally off this thread topic --- are they all hardcore at the con about toy guns being neon orange and so forth? Or do we get around that because the Scramble is not at the convention center?

In fact, if it is not at the convention center, are all the rules off? (Laser pointers???)
Caine Hazen
This is why I carry all mine around in cases.. cause it depends on who you run into and how they feel. I take the Airsoft usualt view of thing (which is equal to federal limits) Orange tips on all my weapons (except my DEs when playing, cause the stupid things fall out anyway). Most airsoft folk I know have extra tips, ones for transport and ones for play. I've seen Stormtroopers get hassled at the doors fo rtheir fake weapons... I wish they'd do what they have at SWCelebrations and just have a check in booth that gives you a badge sticker saying its a replica weapon.

Final Confirmation

This will be my last post on this thread.

The Hilton has given us final confirmation on the room.

The event will take place in Circle City 3.
It will start at 11:00 pm on Friday night, and run as long as people can stay awake (or 7:00 am, whichever comes first).
See you there.
adamu
Ranneko
Synner mentioned this at the Catalyst Game Labs booth, I am totally in for the meet and greet.

I don't own any Shadowrun cards though.
eidolon
If you showed up and the doors were locked come back. We're up and running now.
adamu
Thanks eidolon for making that post.

Apologies to all for the very anarchic first hour. Although I talked to catering face to face on Wednesday, they still totally dropped the ball. The work order was overlooked. At a little before 11:00 we pointed out their error and they quickly opened the room and set up some tables (although the attendees ended up doing most of the work).

End result -
Some people thought it was cancelled or something and missed out.
A lot of people had to endure a late-night hour of confusion as we got things sorted.
A lot of good meet & greeting did eventually get done!
And I guess about 30 people - mostly first-timers - learned and played SRTCG!

Many thanks to all that brought refreshments.
Special thanks to Bull and Jack Robustus - I had decks for folks to USE, but they had lotsa good decks to GIVE to people. Way to go guys.
Thanks also go to Bull, RaccoonDog and Jack and others who provided a great first experience to the card game by teaching all the first-timers.
Random Voices
Thanks all for the Meet and Greet and learning how to play the card game. I'm bummed that I didn't buy any when the game first came out, it's lots of fun. Thanks to Bull and Jack for providing cards! Thanks Adamu for organizing things to begin with.
DireRadiant
I loved getting to see everyone and getting to play the card game!

I look forward to the same thing next year!
Aaron
I am extremely bummed that I was only able to make the very beginning and a chunk of the end (middle?) around 03:00. I was looking forward to meeting people in the meat.
Time
Thanks for the fun at the SR Meet & Greet all.

It was awesome to actually see the SR Card game, I was rather amazed at them.

Thanks for the cards as well Bull, I look forward to giving them a good home and hopefully able to finish a game smile.gif

Next time definately need to get there before 2 am!

BishopMcQ
It was great to meet everyone face to face, some at the Meet and greet, others in events. I look forward to seeing you all next year.
john_doe
I had a great time learning an old card game, while putting some names to the faces.

Special thanks to adamu for getting the event registered and going, despite the troubles you faced from the Hotel.
Special thanks to Bull for the cards. Myself and Time will be sure to annihilate each other on Shadowruns in the days to come.
Thanks to all of those who played at the table i was at, whether you are here on Dumpshock or not. I had a wonderful time.

Looking forward to that again next year.
Redjack
For the short time I was there it was great. I want to thank Adamu for teaching us to play (sorry I didn't have time to finish the game). It was definitely cool. If I'd have realized Bull was giving decks away I would have snagged on. wink.gif

After seeing the transformation of Eidolon this year, I'm almost afraid to imagine how dramatic a change he will make for next year.... (I'm expecting either a sex-change or UGE... Of course if its the latter, he'll have to change his handle to 'Spike-Baby')
Critias
I forgot to go to this. Plain old forgot. No elaborate reason, no complicated but amusing story, no ninja attack or UFO capture...just plain tiredness to blame. frown.gif I ran into a few DS folks at the vendor's hall, and might've seen a few guys when my buddies and I got in on a Grinder session in Battletech, but that was about it.

Running four sessions really pretty much wrecked this year's Gencon, for me. Not because I didn't have an okay time, not because my players didn't have a good time, not because it in and of itself was unpleasant -- but because it ate two whole days out of a four day (three and a half day, really, Sunday's always weak) convention. This Gencon flew by for me.
Bull
Indeed. Thanks for putting this idea forward, Adam! It was great fun, and was nice to teach folks the game, even if I didn't have much of a voice to work with smile.gif

For everyone who was there, thanks for coming! I had a blast, and it was cool to get a chance to really hang out with some fellow fans.

Oh, and AdamU... I think I have a line on those COrp War cards... More when I know more wink.gif

Bull
adamu
Bull - you KNOW I wait with bated breath for any movement at all on that. Let me know of anything I can do to support that mission.
Adam
Man, I'm so sorry I missed this. Somehow I got it in my head that it was in the Hyatt and I didn't have anyone's phone numbers on me. Thanks so much for organizing it, Adam.

Critias: next year! smile.gif

I've been Considering buying up a few boxes of product and running a sealed deck in a fashion similar to MTG at a future GenCon... How much interest would there be?

Had absolutely of making it this year as I Chose MTG Nationals instead two weeks Prior... Damn my multi-flavor Gamer status.

I'm searching for infos about this game, what isn't that easy so its out of print for more than a decade. More so suprisingly to read about a meet and greet that took place in 2008. So, what happened to you people, did you manage to make such a meeting regularly? Maybe once per year?
Are there still some internetsites, where you arrange meetings, maybe in a international way? (Well I'm from Germany, so a short trip to gencon is not possible to me).
