Get a gauss rifle. The "halves armor, then applies armor piercing modifier" errata makes it very nice to shoot such critters with.

Hence the use of the words "up to". And please note the edit - it's up to 18 just to summon the spirit, and up to 36 to bind it.

Yes, youre right. So you gotta use a potent Binding focus for drain resist.

QUOTE
No you can't. Drain damage can't be healed by magical healing. It needs to wait on natural means (which by RAW admittedly includes the use of first aid, which I personally have house ruled against), so you're going to be spending some time with a nasty injury.

? I didnt find any rule in which is said that you cant heal drain magicially. Isnt it only true for stun damage?

QUOTE
The manabolts, on the other hand, are going to be resisted with twenty dice (possibly plus edge), so you may end up taking more damage than this thing with those. Not that this isn't one of the best ways of trying to take it down, but I'm still betting against you if the GM plays this thing right.

So try it with a weapon focus and Analyze Device.

QUOTE ("Official FAQ")
Can Physical Drain be healed by magic?

No. Damage from Drain must be healed by regular mundane medical care and/or rest.

In my opinion, this monstrosity is just him fucking about with the rules, not something he has an intention to play. If players went through my GM folders they'd find Powerful AIs, an insane cyberzombie assassin with kid stealth legs, a german accent and the "lost loved one" quality, a genetweaked amnesiac Jason Bourne-esque bio-sam, a novarich teenager obsessed with shadowrunning, manipulating runners and spending her father's fortune on her hedonistic and dangerous games, a schizofrenic street warlock who grew up with gypsy magic and circus caravans who believes that his jealous and coveting totem (the seductress) needs him to kill women for her and sinister, manipulative mystic adept face mages (It's something i've been refining for some time). Funnily enough, the teenage girl is probably the most dangerous of all of those.

Never underestimate a teenage girls ability to wreak havoc on the world at large. eek.gif

Oh, sorry, Im afraid, I've never read the FAQ. So you'll have to have the First Aid skill, the Analyze Device spell and a good MedKit in reach.

Errata then.
QUOTE (SR4 Errata)
p. 167 Drain [4]
Add the following sentence to the end of the final paragraph:
“Neither Stun nor Physical damage resulting from Drain
can be healed by magical means such as sorcery or spirit powers.”

Included in 4th & 5th printings of the BBB.

I have four magic. I am the team's sole magical asset.

And it was open on the seat beside me, with the character sheet section open to there, and this poking out slightly, thus the paranoia. I haven't looked at the rest, as I've said, and won't be, since he has the sheet now. He just shrugged when I told him that I saw that godawful thing, and nothing more was said

QUOTE (Hagga)
I'm afraid the point is moot, now.

He just called me and said he's taking it out, had found something much better. I could, however, hear the cartoon "Madeline" playing in the background, possibly leading to something just as horrific.
(Bolds for emphasis)

This smells like a GM psyop to me. I think the plan is for the group to be worrying about what is better than a freakin' Balrog.

Not a bad psyop, though...

Well it's nice that he took that character out. It seemed like he made it a dead mages spirit or something stupid like that. He broke the only 2 rules in the SR setting that has been definite. No respawning (when you are dead you are dead no coming back allowed,) and no teleportation. If I had seen this character sheet I would have fessed up, but at the same time I would have told the GM to change the concept of the character/villain a bit. Seemed like a corrupt version of Andariel from Diablo 2 and that sword was made of fiatium.

I mean shame on you for looking at his notes, but hell sometimes human curiosity will always get the better of anyone especially if you are a SR geek. Although I would also say shame on the GM for making such a 2d villain that breaks the few core rules of Shadowrun. In my book you should both get a scolding, but hopefully the GM made a less lame villain.... oh yeah and the big thing about that "spirit" is it's kind of hard to ambush something that can walk around and shit kick on the astral before ever having to cross over into the physical.

I mean seriously like a sword with 5 reach and does 1/2 str + 10 which is 19P on that thing with no additional hits? Why not just have the sword do sonic damage while your at it?

Reach 5 makes it approximately 4-5 meters in length, meaning this is one-handed for the thing - slightly larger than a short sword. What damage code do you think a 15-foot bladed I-beam would do?
masterofm
Twice the amount of damage that a claymore does maybe? The weapon rules are a little odd when looking at the damage code for certain weapons. My comment is more geared toward the fact that it is a lame concept more then anything. A 30ft flesh form angel with wings from the plane of torment who is a dead summoner... yeah... like thats not going to have every player think of Diablo while at the same time thinking "lame."

Why not name it Damion Lucifer Daemon-Mcevil (Jr.,) while your at it? The backstory is that this fleshform is actually the son of Damion D. Daemon and Succubus Mcevil. Damion always wanted a son so he named the child after him and since the couple were more progressive then most of their underworld counterparts decided to use both of their last names. His middle name is to honor his great great grandpappy the lord of hell... I mean lord of the plane of torment... yeah thats it... torment...

Got to remember to use that somewhere.

I dunno, don't think it quite matches Donovan D. Diablo.

I think it's more likely that it has a dead summoner. It would appear to be a former ally spirit.
