which is dumb in the world of shadowrn.
armor is perfectly legal and a valid clothing option in a world where close to everybody around you can be armed up to the eyelashes without you even being able to SEE the built in guns and knives . .
walking around looking like you're a big strong robot means people think you're dangerous . . if you walk around with only thick armor but not looking dangerous

only like someone who armored up because he is afraid, people will think you're easy prey . . you're boned no matter what in most cases anyway i think . .
so if you're boned either way, armor up so you don't get hurt too much

Soo... most people walk around in power armor... Does that mean mages are known as librarians?

Seriously though, how do you take out someone armored at 30+ without magic. Gas, electricity, defenestration, grenades, and gauss rifles have been given as options.

How about instead the question is about destroying an armored vehicle. Say a BMP-2?
Shadow
Not all armor is legal, Milspec armor (which is what we are talking about) is restricted. Don't forget, this is Shadowrun. If your wearing so much armor that everyone in their brother's dog can see you, your not being very Shadowy. Note, not all runs require this kind of Shadow work, if your in the DMZ pile on as much as you want. If your in a C area or higher your going to get hassled by the Star. Despite what people think the Star is not bound by the same rules as today's police force. They can hall you in, take everything you own, beat the crap out of you, and let you go in the back alley behind 2PP without ever even charging you. So not being noticed by them is a High Priority for 'runners.

Also note, your effective body is the average of all cyberlimbs/natural round down.

unless it specifies that one round down, one always rounds up in SR4...

It states in the example that you round down (pg 335). That may be an errata'd thing though as my BBB is the an original 1st printing.

In SR4, you always round to the benefit of the PC unless the text specifically tells you different.

Nice thoguht, but heavy armor is just that. Anything more than a BPV and a armored jacket and your going to get noticed, especially if you have a helmet, riot shield etc.

There's nothing wrong with an armor suit or a riot shield when you're facing down a gang in a Z-zone, or in a shootout with security guards. Hell, the extra attention is a good thing in circumstances when you are trying to draw fire away from your team members. But you will get lots of (bad) attention when you walk down the street like that, even in the relatively bad parts of town.

But seriously - shadowrunners go to nightclubs and parties, they go to restaurants, they sleep - they're not going to be kitted out in their miltech armor 24-7, right? Shadowrunners are usually the aggressors, setting the tone of engagements, but sometimes people come after them, or something violent just happens, and then you have the tank without his toys, slightly more vulnerable. I'm not saying go out of your way to screw the players over, but don't have trouble only hit them head on when they're ready for it, either.
